124gr MG CMJ @ 1.160" OAL, 5.0gr WW231, ~136PF (one of my two standard 9mm minor loads)

147gr Berrys Plated RN @ 1.165" OAL, 4.0gr WW231, ~138PF (a load originally developed for my suppressors some time ago, rejected in favor of a Power Pistol load)

Walküre, Your 147gr @ 1.165" OAL is the same OAL as my 9mm major load. For my 9mm minor load, I think I'll try your load without changing the setup of my press, since I've got some 147gr plated bullets from you know who.

FYI, my actual suppressor load (which that load was intended for, but this beat it out) is 5.0gr of Power Pistol with a CCI #400, yielding 155PF. Hey, they're still subsonic, and that's what matters. Well, that and the fact that they will cycle my 92FS+T9 combo without a recoil booster with 100% reliability (when the gun is reasonably clean, at least), unlike the W231 load posted previously.

More on topic for this thread, my now-standard Production load is:

124gr MG CMJ @ 1.150" over 4.7gr W231 with a WSP for a consistent 135PF out of my Shadow.

Adding my load data from Glock 34 on a 40F day:

147gr Plated RN @ 1.165" OAL.

3.5gr W231, HI 897fps, LO 876fps, 10rd AV 890fps, PF 131.

3.7gr W231, HI 945fps, LO 917fps, 10rd AV 930fps, PF 137.

3.9gr W231, HI 981fps, LO 933fps, 10rd AV 955fps, PF 140.

Last week I shot a bunch of 124 gr Precision Delta FMJ over 4.4 gr of 231 with an OAL of 1.12. Maybe it was just a good day, but it was the most accurate load I have ever shot out of my Glock. This is close to max in some manuals, so be cautious and begin closer to 4.0 and go from there.

115 gr Berry's plated round nose, 4.5 gr W231, either win or federal small pistol primers. Been using for about 3 years. Don't notice any difference in accuracy between this and factory 115 gr win white box.

My standard 9mm load for many years has been 4.6 gr of WW231 using a 115 gr JHP, not sure about the length. The bullets in the chrony info below are Zero 115 gr JHP, and I'm shooting them in a Beretta Model 92. Due to huge increases in bullet prices I will probably buy plated bullets the next time I make a bulk bullet purchase.

This is almost identical to what I'm getting. Tested up to 4.6 Grains of 231 with a Rainier 115 gr round nose out of a lone wolf conversion barrel in a G22. This might sound crazy but it will shoot 2" groups at 30 yards of the bench. Going 1100 FPS I was seeing pressure signs in the primer (FED) so I I'm loading them a little longer than before.

I don't know how much difference it might make, the Beretta has a 5" bbl, and I see that the Glock 22 has a 4.49" bbl. I have forgotten the OAL on my loads, but I have never seen any trace of primer flattening or anything else that might suggest they might be a little hot in my gun, your results may vary.

I think my results were due to loading to short.

Here are my "goto" 9mm loads for W231. The 124gr are awesome in my CZ Target. My 75B and Sigs seem to like the 115gr.

Are you guys running reduced power recoil springs? I'm up to 3.7 gr of hp-38 behind xtreme 147 gr bullets @ 1.15 oal out of my stock glock 34 and am yet to have a round cycle the slide. Got some 3.8, 3.9 and 4.0's loaded up to try this weekend. 3.7 felt hot enough to make pf, but was stove piping.

EDIT: ran out to the range before work this morning, 4.0 grains is still not enough to get the stock G34 cycling. No signs of overpressure, but I'm not sure how much further I'm willing to go.

I was curious if anyone had experience with Accurate No.2 behind BBI 147gr, or similar 9mm bullets? From what I have found the burn rate is similar to that of VV N320.

Why don't you reference the Hodgdon web site for loading data ? It is all there.

Sounds like you need to put a lighter recoil spring in. Run a 13# spring and the brass should cycle perfectly. You should not go any higher than 4.0 grains with that load in my opinion.

I know you said you're not shooting lead or coated rounds, but........

If you load 231 or hp38 in the 3 gn range you will need a lighter spring.

I'm running 124 LRN 3.6gn HP38 with a 13# spring and it cycles fine.

It's my experience that you need to be in the middle of the powder charge to work the slide. So

I'm assuming thier load data only considers standard springs.

I have used 231 as one of my 2 "go to" powders depending on availablity or lack there of. My other go to has to cross the ocean from Finland and is sarce most of the time around here so I have used 231 alot and I like it.

Brass : Mixed head stamps polished

Primers : Fed SP or Win SP Fed is my first choice

Bullets : MG JHP 124g

OAL 1.123

Powder: 231 4.4g

It is my favorite 231 recipe, it is accurate, not snappy, pretty clean, and consistant. I have become a big fan of 231 with JHP bulets. 231 meters very consistantly in my experiance.

A few 231 loads w/ 147gr FP from thebluebullet out of a 5" ADCO barreled AR15

It was about 45* out, CCI SP primers mixed brass,

1.143 OAL 3.3gr 935, 881, 902, 906, 885 Avg 901
1.143 OAL. 3.5gr 958, 958, 964, 969, 950 Avg 960
1.143 OAL. 3.7gr 989, 991, 1010, 1011 Avg 993
1.125 OAL 3.3gr. 921, 976, 911, 975, 901 Avg 937
1.125 Oal 3.5gr. 976, 983 Avg 979
For those that only have a few numbers sorry the chrono was acting up.
I liked the speed and consistency of 3.5gr @ 1.143 so that's all I shot for acuracy and it shot a 4 round 1" group at 25yards off rest.

I have been shooting 3.8 grains and 147 grain Berry's FMJ. This put me at a power factor of 135-136. That was more than I wanted especially at the tested temperature of 40 degrees. I just reloaded my next batch at 3.6 grains and that was 130-132 power factor. M&p 5" and glock 34 all cycled these loads 100% and accuracy was great with 13 lb recoil springs.

This thread got me motivated to try out 4 pounds of W231 I had sitting under the bench. I split a 8 pound jug with a buddy early last year just as a backup. Anyways I loaded 100 rounds to test out at last Saturdays local IDPA match 4.6g with a 124 Extreme RN at 1.150 CCI SPP.

This load turned out great, super accurate with my stock sprung 4th Gun G17.

Afterwards I quickly set the chrono up to test it. 10 shots averaged 1068 fps, SD was 22 with mixed brass. 133 PF

Really? I'm also running 147gr Xtremes with 3.3 gr of HP38 and I cycle fine. Glock 34 gen 4 - standard springs. Chrono ave was 850 - need a touch more to make minor PF, but no cycle issues
