  1. Brownells currently sells EMC parts for 1911 pistols, are these parts any good?
  2. What kind of extended basepads did you use?
  3. http://www.doublealpha.biz/index.htm#top Double Alpha is owned by Saul Kirsch and he lives here in The Netherlands and I'm sure he'll help you out.
  4. Typical Ruger Mk-II bull barrels have drilled and tapped receivers to fit a weaver/picatinny rail. With such a rail, you also need an adapter plate as interface between the Docter sight and the weaver/picatinny rail. BTW, I have a MKIII 22/45 with LSP picatinny rail and an Ultradit 1" dot, mounted in Warne rings and that shoots and looks great ;-)
  5. I guess that a lot of not so great shooters tend to think they get better with a lot of mods.........
  6. If you remove the mag safety, your mags drop freely.....at least mine do ;-) I've removed the safety by installing a Volquarten hammer (a regular MKII will also do) and a MKII hammer bushing, which fills the space that's there after you remove the magsafety.
  7. You're kidding right? It's on page 24/25 of the manual, what's there to understand?
  8. When I got out of school in 1992 I bought a brand new 486sx with a 120mb HD and 2mb memory and it costed about $1500 and later I installed 4mb extra which costed about $400. And the first cd-rom players where very expensive, but I was THE MAN because I had one. Nowadays a computer is an appliance that you throw away after 3-4 years and the one that you buy then, is bigger better and a lot cheaper ;-)
  9. I drive a 2007 Ford Focus Tdci and it drives real nice! There's only some diesel-noise when you start it in cold weather, but when the engine is warm, you don't really notice it's a diesel. Here in Europe diesels are very common and diesel fuel is a little less expensive, but you get much much better fuel economy and a diesel pulls real nice from low revs...........man, I love torque!
  10. Yes it is......and sending it back to the factory is indeed not very viable.
  11. My shooting buddy has a S&W 686-5 with a broken rebound slide stud :-( This thursday we're going to the gunsmith, but is this easy to repair or is he in the market for a new blaster?
  12. There is a nifty tool to pull the bushing in the right position. I got it from Shooters Connection.
  13. Sounds like a Sphinx 3000 to me ;-)
  14. A few months ago I ordered 2 Zytel Krebs magwells for my STI (through CPWSA) and I like them very much. I would like to have the stainless version, but I've heard that they're actually sold out, or aren't they?

    STI GP6

    Is STI actually shipping them?
  16. I have a Edge in 9mm...............that didn't work out of the box. After tensioning the extractor and replacing the mag springs and followers with Grams stuff (and adjusting the feedlips) my gun is utterly reliable. It has fired about 8000 rounds now, without any faillures.............................................................but since a STI/SVI is much more sensitive, I would simply get a Glock for self-defense.
  17. Yes, I think I can. I was thinking of removing tiny bits of metal from the middle of the (underside) of the slidestoppin and doing so, at some point there must be enough room to make it cycle smoothly. If I cycle the pistol by hand, with the recoil spring assembly removed, it seemd pretty easy to 'feel' if things go smoothly on the inside...... A friend of mine told me to just shoot and this way the parts should 'wear in', but I'm afraid the barrel link is going to break.
  18. I've installed a new EGW slide stop (the cast $22 version) on my 9mm STI Edge, but I've question though. The EGW didn't fit completely, so I had to remove some metal to give the inside and underside of th slide some room..........but when I put everything together, it looks like the barrel link needs a little more room, since I have to close to slide with my thumbs for the last 2-3mm's. Should I remove some metal from the slidestop axis, or should I shoot it for some rounds to 'hard fit' it?
  19. I also have a Glock 19 and I love it. Shoot it for a couple of hundred rounds, so you can see the 'wear points' in the trigger system and polish those a little (or let it done by someone with 'Glock knowledge')...............then put a set of decent sights on it.
  20. Before I moved up to a STI I used to shoot a CZ-75B with the single action trigger and competition hammer from Angus and the trigger was awesome!!
  21. Ok, I'll be ordering the regular EGW item.
  22. I have a 10lb spring and a Shock Buff and it tracks real nicely, but I guess it shoots even smoother with a lighter mainspring...........I guess I'll order some and start playing ;-)
  23. Ok, this might sound stupid, but the slidestop on my 9mm STI Edge is MIM-ugly, so I want a nicer one ;-) But are all the slide stop the same or not? Wilson (and a few others) makes them in 9mm/.38 super and .45 ACP style. but what's the difference? BTW, for $20 the EGW slide stop seems tempting.......
  24. I've replaced my Recolmaster with a regular guiderod and a 10lb recoilspring, but it looks like the standard mainspring is a bit heavy (don't know what the standard rate is). I want to replace the mainspring, but should I try 15, 17 or 19lb??
