    Dawson ICE

I have a problem with an Ice magwell on my brandnew Glock 17C. It seems that the brass plugs that needs to be inserted in the frame cavity, is a bit too small, is this a known issue? When I install the magwell as stated in the instructions, the brass plug is pulled into the direction of the 'gap', pulling the magwell downwards at the front, leaving an ugly gap. When the magwell is installed like this, my Dawson basepads won't seat fully, so something must be wrong :-(
  4. Just try them all! I shoot a Glock 19 and I like it a lot and it handles fast in my hands........and although I think I should shoot better with a 17, I don't ;-)
  5. I have modified my (Grams) spring so that the loop/bend is at the front of the magazine: that way it's easy to grasp the spring with a grinded down screw driver (through the slot between mag and pad) and just slide the pad off..........I read this tip somewhere here on the forum. With unmodified springs, the basepad is hard to remove though.
  6. I like to collect some spare parts for my STI........but is the plunger tube spring for a STI hi-cap (2011) the same as a regular 1911, or is the spring different?
  7. The Dawson toolless guiderod looks like a cool upgrade, but will it work with my Edge (can I push the lever with my finger)?
  8. I have a TomTom 3rd edition an I really like it and I like it that TomTom is a Dutch company ;-)
  9. My Edge came with the stock aluminum magwell, but I have fairly large hands and I don't like the way the magwell pushes my hand.I now run a plastic Krebs magwell and it fits me perfectly, but the stainless version is no longer available, so I need to find something else. But it seems that magwell only come in 'big' and 'huge' and that's not what I like. Hmm, maybe I should use my gun without the magwell.......
  10. I want a smaller magwell on my Edge and the magwells from SVI look tempting. But I have 4 mags with Dawson +1 'wedge' pads, will these work with the SVI magwell?
  11. I shoot a 9mm Edge and it didn't run out of the box :-( There was no tension on the extractor, so I had a lot of extraction problem and feedlips on the magzines where way off, so that needed to be fixed and the disconnector dragged heavy on the slide..........at 2100 euro's I had expected it would 'work' (my Glocks do). And I understand Stefano's point: here in The Netherlands there are a lot gundealers who can sell you an STI/SVI, but only 2-3 smiths who can 'fix' it if you have problems and in my case the nearest is 125km from my home. Don't get me wrong, but if I had known that I had to spend extra money to make it work (as I did), I would not have bought it..............

    STI GP6

Are there any holsters for the GP6 yet?
  14. Does removing chrome, nickel or whatever (I think it's called stripping) damage your gun, or more specific: how is plating removed?
  15. Thanks, that's what I wanted to know!
  16. I want to replace my STI rear sight, but how do I remove it? It seems that I need to take out the 'height adjustment' screw, so that I can flip it open and drift it out, am I right? Do I remove it 'left to right' or 'right to left'?
  17. I load 4,4 grains N320 and I use 124 grain FMJ Berry's (COL=1.155) and that does slightly above PF130 in my 9mm Edge.
  18. I think blue is good, since nickel is somewhat 'warmer' than chrome, so red might be a bit to much.
  19. I've done some photo editing, with the right colors............votes please ;-)
  20. I shoot 2-3 times a week, so that's not the problem.........I just want my STI to be pretty ;-)
  21. I have my STI done in electroless nickel, but I don't think it matches with the black grip..............so I guess I want a red or blue grip and a stainless STI magwell. Which looks better? And if someone has pics that would be great.
  22. I have my gun back from my gunsmith and it's done in electroless nickel. It's really smooth and even and it's very easy to clean. Hard chrome would have been great, but I couln't find anyone able to hardchrome........and the grip is going to be replaced by a red or blue one ;-) BTW, sorry for the Glock in the picture ;-)
  23. I have a STI Edge and 2 Glocks and I like them all! The STI shoots easier and is a bit more accurate, but once in a few thousand rounds my STI has a jam and those things from Austria always work and my STI is a bit picky about the ammo, but that's easily fixed ;-) I didn't want to own a Glock because I thought they were ugly (I consider a STI as pretty), but after shooting one several years ago, I had to admit that Glocks are great guns (if they fit you) and here in Europe they're very popular and about the cheapest IPSC pistol available. And don't forget: Glocks parts are very cheap and you don't need a gunsmith to work on them (although working on them is not really needed).
