  1. My wife has a hard time concentrating on the front sight, so I'm considering a fiber optic front sight for her 17C. I sure it will fit, but won't it get dirty rather quick because of the 'blast' throught the slotted barrel?
  2. I ordered 2 black Zytel's.......so I have a spare on hand when it's chewed up ;-)
  3. Since Krebs concentrates on AK's I guess his magwells are going to be hard to find, so I ordered 2 from Dawson ;-)
  4. No, I use the STI magwell with the Dawson 'wedge' pads and although it works, I would like to have a slightly smaller magwell which leaves more basepad to slam onto. But maybe it's just me, I just like to try all available options ;-)
  5. I've seen the pictures on the Dawson site, but I haven't seen pictures of the magwell on a gun..........
  6. Maybe I'm crazy, but since my gun needs to meet the IPSC box rules, I think the STI magwell is a bit big and I have to slam my magazines hard to get them in.............so I want to try something smaller. The Zytel magwell from Krebs seems nice (Dawson had them) and they seem to work with the Dawson 'wedge pads'.........but I've never seen those magwells on an actual pistol, so pics would be nice.
  7. I had some problems with my mags and since I live in The Netherlands, mag tuning is something that you need to do yourself. But with this info from the STI site: http://www.stiguns.com/cart/aboutmags.html and Grams 'guts' and a Dawson basepad I got them to work! BTW, my feed lips were very wide and after I got that fixed (with smooth pliers and a hard rubber hammer) most of my problems seem to have disappeared. But if I knew from the start that my STI would have cost that much money (about 2500 euro's, which is $3500+) I wouldn't have bought it.......althought I love shooting it.
  8. So STI is going to offer a .22 conversion unit by itself?
  9. I own a Ford Focus (European version) and I finally got it in the last week of october 2007.........after 26 weeks of waiting!
  10. The problem is that I live in The Netherlands and it's highly illegal to take your gun to just a plater, so the options are limited, since there are only a few company's that will plate guns. So, I guess what I have seen is triple chrome and I'll be better off with electoless nickel?
  11. I want to have my STI Edge plated, but I can't figure out what's best. My smith showed me a slide that has been hard chromed (matte), but on the front edges of the slide you could see the nickel plating that's under the chrome and I don't like that. So, I'm thinking of getting it done in electroless nickel?? I heard it's very rust resistant and has a very even thickness. BTW, anyone had pics of a STI done in electroless nickel?
  12. The rest of the world? Here in Europe a M&P9L would be pretty cool (if it gets approved for production), since a Glock 34 is to long for PD..........and I might consider buying one if it gets approved.
  13. My Edge has polished sides on the slides, but actually I don't care for them since it catches a lot of little scratches.......and when it's all matte I guess it will look quite cool.
  14. My gun is going to the smith this thursday! I'm not sure though if I want the sides of de slide 'shiney' or matte??? And that is an awesome 'before and after' example!!
  15. Ok, I've just send my smith (Van Mulekom here in The Netherlands) an email......and I want my gun chromed and I also want higher undercut under the triggerguard!
  16. I have a blued STI Edge, which is 'not so blue' anymore in some places and has some minor scatches on the polished sides and cocking serrations. Since I also have hands that make guns rust in a heartbeat, I guess I want my gun chromed.......but should I leave the sides matte or polished and will those scratches dissapear after the chrome job?
  17. I have one of the new Double Alpha belts and I like it a lot!I also have 2 CR speed rigs, but Saul's belt is even stiffer and according to Saul I was the first that got it ;-)

  19. I have a CR speed and I just received one of the new DAA belts a few days ago and its indeed even stiffer than CR speed!
  20. I know that here in The Netherlands they were made bij Artade and it was called the IBS system............
  21. I have removed the mag safety from my 22/45 Mark III, by replacing the hammer with a Volquartsen Mark II hammer and a Mark II hammer bushing.........in that case you just pull put out the Mark III hammer and magazine safety and replace them with the Mark II parts.Removing the mag safety makes fieldstripping much easier AND your mags become free dropping.
  22. I contacted Dillon and they think my press is not damaged and they also advise to leave the bullet also. If the press is cracked and I start having problems, they'll replace the frame for shipping costs! So I just keep making more ammo and I must say I'm very surprised about Dillon's offer: most companies would say 'you f*#ked up, so you'll pay'.......so they got another Dillon fan!
  23. I've made another photo (it's hard to get the camera there and still be able to get it focused) and I'm convinced my press is not cracked! There are some hairlines that look like cracks when you zoom in, but those lines are also visible at the other stations, zo I'm not worried and I'll leave the bullet where it is. BTW, the updated photo is in my original first post.
