  1. I removed them and when loading long (29,35mm) I have no problems and these rounds also fit my Glocks, so I'm happy without spacers ;-)

    Glock 19

But would a G17 spring be too long to use in a G19? And after you trim it to make it fit, hasn't it become weaker after the trimming job?

    Glock 19

I really love shooting my Glock 19 (it handles soooooo nice), but I want to play with some different recoil springs. I read the tech articles on 'custom glock racing' and I want to try a 13 pound spring, but here in Europe they're impossible to get and us-shops who sell them, don't want to export. But......CPWSA sells ISMI springs for the Glock 17, so can I just take a 13 pound Glock 17 spring and cut it to the same numbers of coils as the original spring, or is that 'too easy'?? Peter.
  4. I'm going to buy my wife a Glock 17C to use as a 'steel blaster' and I want to mount a C-more using a SJC mount. But..........does it install using the existing locking block and trigger pin holes or is some 'drilling and tapping' needed?
  5. My STI Edge in.............9mm! I shoot a lot more steel matches than IPSC, so I decided to get a 9mm ;-) BTW, upgraded the safety's and beavertail with Ed Brown parts and the beavertail is pinned, I really like it this way and oh boy, it shoots! Next gun is going to be a Glock 35, I just can't fork the money for a second STI..........
  6. When you replace the Recoilmaster, do you need a different reverse plug?
  7. I have a light RM in my 9mm Edge and I do like them, but I think I need to have a separate guiderod, in case it breaks. But if I get an extended guide rod, will it fit to the original reserve plug, or do I need to get something else?
  8. I bought some Grams spring/follower kit and made my ammo slightly longer (30,48mm) and it runs like a rabbit without the spacers ;-) To this point I've shot around 1500 rounds without a hickup and I've dropped the magazines on purpose quite a few times, so they might get shuffled it the mags, but it just keep workings, although I needed to adjust the feedlips.........there were very W I D E! BTW, the quality of the Grams stuff is way better than the standard STI follower/spring and with the original parts, its very easy to push down on the front and with Beven's stuff I guess it works how it should, although I had to modify my slidestop because it was activated with a round in the mag ;-)
  9. So I guess that isn't going to be any improvement ;-) I just received BUL basepads that I ordered from Saul Kirsch and they are attached with a pin, but are easily removable and quite sturdy. To make them work I only have to angle the sides a bit, otherwise they won't fit my STI magwell.........but that's easily done. BTW, I live about 225km from Assen, but 'up north' the roads are less filled, so I can be there in a little over 2 hours.
  10. Since a lot of basepads (for my 126mm magazines) are a pain to remove, I might try the +1 international pads from Arredondo. But before I buy them, I'd like to know if someone might have tried them??
  11. I have a fairly new Edge in 9mm, that needed some fiddling to get it working like it should. When I got it, the disconnector had some 'bind', which caused the slide to hang when I hand-cycled it, but after some reading and a bit of sear-spring tweaking that was fixed. Soon after that (and after firing about 500 rounds) I got a lot of feeding and extraction problems and I noticed that the extractor had no tension at all, so with a bit of bending I got that fixed.........and now it's working like it should and I think I have some understanding about the 2011 concept ;-) On the other hand, I found out that my pistol works perfectly without the mag-spacers and .38 super followers from Arredondo (or better yet) with Grams internals (I load my ammo to a 29,5mm COL). So if you just want to shoot and have little to worry about: go buy a Glock (I also have one of those), but I think that my Edge is a great pistol and it just needs some TLC ;-) BTW, my gunsmith is about 125km from my house, so I prefer to do these little tweaks myself, since driving to and from my smith, takes more time ;-)
  12. But is the basepad not going to fly off, when it hits the ground when you do a reload?
  13. The Dawson international pad works perfectly with the stock magwell! I was only a little puzzled, how I should get it off, but after some reading here, I've modified a small screwdriver, so it's flat enough to work between the magpad/magazine gap and push the sping coil down........and then it slides right off! BTW, I also bought a Grams spring kit and that is a huge improvement, since the follower doens't nosedive and is held in it's position a lot better, so I guess I 'need' to buy a few additional kits ;-) Now I only need to modify the slidestop, since it's activated a bit 'early'.........
  14. I have an Edge which has the stock magwell and the standard basepads fit flush with the magwell. But I think that slightly larger pads (wedge style) will work better, since bigger pads make it somewhat easier to slap the mags in. I have ordered a Dawson +1 international pad, to find out if it works with the standard magwell..........I'll let you know when I have it!
  15. I shoot an Edge in 9mm and with reloads using 115 grain bullets it's so much fun to shoot.........and I shoot a lot of A's, although I have to work on my speed ;-) And since .40 is quite expensive here in Europe, I like to shoot 9, because I can afford to shoot factory ammo when I'm lazy and losing some brass doesn't hurt. If I get better and get the feeling that my 9 is hurting my scores I might buy a .40 Edge or a Glock 35, but as long as I'm having fun and be competitive among my shooting buddies', I'll keep shooting my 9's. BTW, I bought my Edge brand new 2 months go, so '9' was a deliberate choice!
  16. Ok.........but will Dawson 'international' pads fit with the stock STI magwell?
  17. I want to replace my magazine basepads with something slightly larger, but I want my gun to still fit the box. But.......I also don't want to spend a fortune on basepads, so the polymer 'international' pads, as made by Arredondo and SPS look nice. Has anyone experience with them and will they also fit the original magwell?
  18. I also have an Edge, although it's a 9mm.........but if I replace the RM, can I use the original reserve plug with a FLGR, or is the diameter different?
  19. My Edge is still fairly new, so I still need to find out how some things work...........but I guess I'll be needing the spacers ;-) And thanks Mr. Grams, I just might buy some of your performance parts!
  20. But if I try to make my ammo as long as possible, I might end up with ammo that's close to .38 super length (although I might tough the rifling before I get that far).BTW, you don't seem to sell a FKS9-11 kit............
  21. I hate the spacers in my 9mm mags, can I just remove them and put a .38 super follower in it, or is the magazine spring different? Brownells sells Teflon followers from Arredondo and the Magtech ammo that I shoot has as COL of 30,35mm so I guess it works without those spacer-things.
  22. I've been shooting my Edge in 9mm for a few weeks now and I like it very much, but I want it to cycle a bit faster, since it feels a bit lazy now. Somewhere on this forum I read that the light recoilmaster uses a 12lb spring, so should I just buy a full length guide rod a a 14lb spring?
  23. I have an Edge in 9mm and it is indeed very nice to shoot! When I bought it the Tactical looked cool, but I have no need for a light rail and the Edge was 'cheaper'. Btw, it shoots insanely flat with 115 grain bullets, it feels like a Colt Ace on steroids ;-)
