  1. I'd proffer the one thing you might straight out dislike is belt rules. I can't wear my easy to put on USPSA double belt to an IDPA match. I'm spoiled on that thing now. A lot of that is due to IDPA frequently having a higher mix of lower level shooters. Thats why I do well. But thats not universal. In our area, probably a third of the shooters are also USPSA/ falling steel / whatever's playing today I am in shooters.
  2. Right, because the classification weighting is at the lower end. While a B rating makes Master generally in IDPA. Master is USPSA is also Master is IDPA equivalent. Schultz is also correct in that I believe the mix skews more towards lower level shooters in any IDPA match.
  3. Technically, the range is different. The classes are not perfectly in accord. Low C class is historically Sharpshooter. High C class is historically Expert. B at a certain level is the bottom rung of Master, but Master encompasses anyone from good shooter to great shooter. Its easier to classify as Master, but that class encompasses a larger range of shooters.
  4. Probably already answered in detail before I got here but the Legion is perfect for IDPA. Take off the mag well, SSP legal. Leave the Magwell on, ESP legal. Put on a CO, CO legal. The Glock is also legal for SSP without modification needed. Go with whichever one you want to shoot. You will need two mag pouches. Your first time you could likely do it without at a local match but you will immediately want them. Also, everything that Rowdy B said. *In addition, watch a youtube video on new shooters for IDPA. They should say the range commands. *Practice drawing and - more importantly - holstering at least ten times with an empty pistol. Look at the holster when you holster the pistol. This will get you familiar with much of what is really important: not shooting yourself in the leg. most people hate that. But bring the gear and don't overthink anything. It will be fun.
  5. Beltmen double hide belts, both for IDPA and every day. I can't recommend them highly enough. https://www.thebeltman.net/
  6. Also remember, at least in Texas, there are a whole slew of shooters that shoot both, as well as Steel Challenge, Falling steel, anything thats around.
  7. My goals have changed substantially in the last two weeks. August 1: Make B level USPSA/Steel Challenge, M in IDPA. September 15: find enough ammo to shoot matches...
  8. For the mentally challenged like myself...er how did you do the above? And second on asking what the weight is on that.
  9. It may have been mentioned, but you can also buy them at larger matches and its a tradition for shooters to get a shirt from the match.
  10. Its advantaged in that PreCovid, it was an inexpensive option vs. the competition, has ergos that are in line with a 10/22 or old school rifle, and frankly is less likely to trip an AWB limitation.
  11. If I had an RO tell me to "heat it up" I'd know I'm in for a fun day day of shooting. My kind of guy.
  12. For the same reason as you, to stay out of their way. 1. IDPA has a higher emphasis on new shooters and we are more worried about being swept. 2. USPSA is run and gun. IDPA is waddle and shoot. We're slow!
  13. This! This! This! One of the real differences between the two sports is that IDPA gives more weight to accuracy. Don't miss those shots or put an extra one in the target to make sure. Also you tend to see more head shots and things in IDPA stages. You can often tell a good IDPA shooter in a USPSA match qualifier because they are used to having to be just a hair more accurate. Interestingly if you shoot Production in USPSA often you are more accurate as well due to the minor factor impacting your scoring. Also, as an SO, if you are a real RUN and gunner, do them a favor your first time up and tell them you are going to boogie. They may not expect it.
  14. Speaking for use and not legality, those should be fine initially. If you enjoy USPSA and Production you will likely switch to individual mag holders because they are faster. As a side note it took a minute to realize the other things were shotgun shell carriers or something. At first I was like, does this guy carry ninja claws on his belt?
  15. Pretty well. The only time there are issues are when an older SO gets the old rules and new rules confused. Its no biggie.
  16. My you are a traveling man. Temple also normally holds matches once a month or so. APSC holds two matches a month and a steel challenge at end of month also. You've shot with Wade and Brian I imagine.
  17. Where are you shooting USPSA matches? Note, APSC is still shut down but when they open up again, there are typically multiple Ms and GMs at their matches.
  18. This looks awesome. Pity I'm an old fart and just bending down like that initial stretch would lead to a week of pain...
  19. 12 competitors per squad? Is that permitted under governor guidelines?
  20. I have to second, its quite excellent. The turn around time and service were excellent. I highly recommend.
  21. Sig Armorer trigger job. I put Talon grip tape on it, but find I like it better without it.
  22. Tell them to slow down. I will tell me guys to tell me to slow down if I am going too fast.
  23. So...was everyone but the one guy helping? I am an old geezer and can't RO a USPSA match because I can't keep up with the young guys (IDPA and steel I do).
