Ye, indeed.
As has been noted, an easy way to address this would have been:
ESP:
Weight, size maximum, power factor minimum, in addition:
ESP: excluded modifications: X, Y, Z
All other modifications are permitted.
Another interesting note, under ESP one can have magwells if it makes weight and fits in the box, but you may have a discussion about 8.1.7
and also apparently the match director rules states to watch out for brass weight magwells.
So a steel magwell of the same weight as a brass one is ok...
I have not seen any actual IDPA rules cited stating the OP cannot do this. There is a rule against it at the safety table, but there's been no cite one could not dry fire in another bay separate from the match yet, yes?
Evidently the company is also standing up a new plant in the US, beginning production 2nd Qtr (aka next month). I wonder if they will produce steel versions out of there.
Yes their info says shipping in July, so I would bet the same week as SHOT if not slightly earlier to have it in dealer's hands when the SHOT reports start coming out.
Yes evidently it weighs the same. Instead of steel S&W used aluminum. The very new "competition" version even has lightening cuts.
Why? This is a company experienced in using steel.
No actually. I envision the opposite due to legislation, but we'll stop there before this gets political.
On the flip side, I would not envision "fully professional" as being a net positive for the sport.
I am surprised they haven't put that frame onto their M&P long slide for a better competition gun. Additionally a metal frame for their 2.0 Compact would be a good competition frame for a CCP pistol in IDPA yes?
Talk to me when walking most days is a thing and you don't have a kid's vision any more.
I do also, but I am realistic enough to know I'm not going to beat that kid with the open gun, whom I'm old enough to be their grandpa.
If you don't want to be classified, don't be classified.
I disagree with that. Most local matches are made up of expendables like myself. I am not going to win a match, so in order to be interested I was to see how I do versus those with a similar skill level as myself.
