  1. I am not sure what is your point, I thought the goal of this topic was to make the 3GNs more attractive. Back to your respond, basically what you said after the word "diluted" is somehow adding more divisions to the 3GNs makes it easier!?! So if we have more people shooting at a 3GNs match, all of a sudden it becomes "deluted"?! I don't want to make a general topic, into a personal debate. I made my points, and you expressed your thoughts. Good luck at your 3GNs match. One day, we may bump in one those matches.
  2. You are missing the point. I suggest you go to one of the USPSA/Steel_Challenge matches and you can see it is not about black vs tan gun.
  3. It is not about one division that I would like. This topic is not about one specific taste. You are missing my point. The more division you have, the more inclusive the system will be. This is based on assumption that divisions are designed right. For example, if USPSA/Steel-Challenge divided their divisions based on caliber, instead of PF, I consider that as a less efficient approach. PF gives the 9mm guys the option to compete as major 9 load or minor, but does not exclude them as a division in 3GN does.
  4. Thanks for the feedback. Two questions: 1. Which Timney trigger did you have that issue with, the 4.5lb (black housing one that comes with MPX-PCC) or 3lb (the one with the gold/yellow housing)? And is that trigger reset issue due to too much needed travel to reset, or the push weight? I read one benefit of the hiperfire trigger is the ability to not only adjust the pull, but also the push weight. 2. Your "4th trigger", does it mean you have 4 rifles that u installed one in each, or the MPX crushed them over time that you needed to replace them?
  5. So they don't not even provide a charged-service for their products!? In another word, after the warranty period ends, they basically dump the product. A portion of the premium price people pay for their product is because of the skill and level of craftsmanship their gunsmiths have. Otherwise, everyone would buy 2011 parts and give them to a gunsmith to custom fit and build a handgun. Handguns, specially open guns, are consumable products, and their parts are needed to be changed over time. And those parts are not drop-in type of items. They each needs to be hand-fitted. Thanks for sharing this. I honestly to this day though after the warranty ends, they still provide service, but charge a hefty fee.
  6. So are there only Rock Island, CK Arms, and STI that have lifetime warranty? Other manufactures (open gun) with limited time warranty: SVI 5 yrs D.W. 3 yrs CZ 5 yrs Atlas 1 yr! Akai 1 yr
  7. I will wait for some months to 1. see what are the feedback from people who purchased with them (not their immediate thoughts, but what they think about the new models after couple of months having them), and 2. let the price settle down. Right now they are "new design/flashy/black/I am a cool guy STIs".
  8. That is what I did. I did the calculation for how much I need to spend to make my G17 a CO gun (including adding weight, cutting the slide, ...). I had a Sig P320 full size (regular one, not the X5) and never liked it. After a match, I tried my friend's P320-X5 Legion. Within a month, I sold both of G17 and P320, and bought a P320 X5 Legion. It is an amazing gun. The weight balance is par with a full metal handgun. It is supper sweet to shoot with. Saying that, I still enjoy shooting with my G34, for which with respect to weight, I just changed the recoil rod with a SS one. I prefer to keep it as a light weight production gun. If you choose to go into the Sig route, P320-X5 Legion is a heavy gun (41.7 oz empty plus additional 2 oz. for the red-dot).
  9. For a transaction above $1k, I open an escrow. Saying that, I hesitate to purchase any firearm at or above that price range without inspect it first.
  10. It is a pistol. If you post it in a rifle section, you technically admit it is a SBR.
  11. For any transaction above $1k, I open an escrow. Gunbroker trick also works.
  12. That was a very strong and blind comment. What are the reasons to back your statement?
  13. Thanks a lot. That list is exactly what I needed
  14. A good gear set makes you smile every time you look at it; and everything else equal, it makes you gain a higher score/rank faster. The fallacy many fall into is this; when you want to analyze the impact of a parameter on the outcome (in this case the equipment), if you change any parameter other than the one under study, you basically just customizing/fitting the results to match your pre-defined narrative. Now if someone wants to compare the impact of high-end vs. average gear on achieving a same goal (lets say progress to the next higher ranking level), assuming every other parameters be the same (including number of hours of training, type/method of training, physical capabilities, and other factors), the higher end gear expedites the progress.
  15. Does not baking polymer part change their brittleness characteristics?
  16. I have a similar model. It is super nice (look and performance). Have you upgraded the trigger system? For me, it is the only downside part of the gun. However, the whole trigger system will cost some good number of green notes.
  17. Dry fire + Steel-Challenge + any type of sport that requires you to have a quick reaction with precision and control. From baseball to tennis/ping-pong, or even some types of the martial-art.
  18. What I have heard from people who shot at IPSC in Europe and Canada and USPSA in the US, IPSC stages are leaning toward defensive/military style shooting, and USPSA is more toward sport shooting style.
  19. It is not my job to define a division system comprehensive enough that can attract more shooters. What I expressed are the facts about how compare with the USPSA/Steel-challnge, the 3GNs has a limited number of divisions. In addition, one division is even more narrowed by only allowing one specific cal. (45cal.). The 3GNs organization should put efforts in analyzing different systems, and modifies their divisions. I just pointed out some of the shortcomings, and made a comparison between a successful system vs. 3GNs.
  20. Is it a crazy idea to shoot with SW 15-22? It is heavier than those who are expressed here. However, the price tag is 1/4th.
  21. I am interested to hear what you will say if you shoot a Sig P210 or a TSO, or a ... When you buy them (not it), then you will start to upgrade parts. There is no end to this road.
  22. Put a new battery, maybe the battery was drained.
  23. For USPSA I zero at 15yard. The A zone has enough height that aiming at their centers delivers an A hit. For partial cover targets, it is a bit tricky. But those type of targets are mainly placed at around 10-20 yards. Your zero distance also depends on how high your red-dot sits above the barrel.
  24. Custom route is the way to go for that price range. I would look at Infinity(SVI), limcat, and Atlas, in that order.
