  1. So.... I personally used STI gen 2 mags. Sometimes they fit with out modifications to frame and sometimes they dont. If they dont it is very easy to cut the frame for them to fit. We do it a lot with Para style frames (Rock island double stack frames) at Prasky Gunworks. I personally just stopped using para style framed limited guns this season, sold my last one to a fellow shooter.
  2. Is pre walking stages the day before or day of something that is guaranteed? I know of at least on sectional I shot this year where we drove 6 hours and took a day off work to walk stages the day before and the entire staff had the place locked up before we got there. We were early according to the match book. Didnt get any walk through, no registration until day of, no RO's knew what stage anyone started on..... it was a let down. And a match I will probably never go to again.
  3. Best we have found is loctite 680 for steel comps. And loctite 680 for ti comps plus pin the comp is it has issues coming loose. Ti comps seem to have the most issues coming loose.

    RIA Open Gun

Prasky Gunworks has build a few of them on railed frames. All frame mount optics. One we used a KKM Hybrid barrel on. Biggest issue is mags. We cut every single one to use 2011 mags amd use aftec extractors exclusively on them. Only way we have found to get 100% reliability with them.

    stroked

Basicly cutting the spring tunnel back to allow more rearward travel to add dwell time for round to cone up in the mag and reliably feed. I have a shorty open gun with a commander slide we stroked because we needed the slide to clear the disconnector and move far enough back to get the round to have enough room to feed/eject.
  6. I'm left handed and have an open and limited gun with the evil hand thumb rest. Tried the DAA one first and did not like it. The evil hand is awesome. It's much like the *thumb rest [generic]* but for the left of us. For me and my hands I mounted it where it was just behind the slide stop pin. Very easy to install, I did it with a cordless drill, #38 drill bit amd a 5-40 tap. Just mark holes, center punch them and drill slow with lube. Then chamfered hole with either a little bit larger drill bit or a chamfer bit, that will help center the tap. Go slow most frames are hardened.
  7. After the 2020 debacle of matches cancled, refund nonsense, lost airfare money... I'm a bit hesitant.
  8. I am, I also tried the insert for my BUL Armory open gun. Ended up doing a lot of fitting on the SVI Steel grip insert to get it to about 90%. I'd say it's about as good as it will get for my grip. I ordered the Safariland 015 from SC the other day as they had one in stock for a lefty. Just put it on a spare belt I have and tested it with about 25 dry fire draws.... WOW. I LOVE the 015. Its smmmmoooottttthhhhhh as silk. The lock lever is way better, I can actually hit it on a draw, with the ALPHA X the lock lever is to small amd I miss it usually. But man I tell ya the 015 is hands down my favorite so far. Currently I'm having a open/limited build going that I'm using the Lonestar grip on and I hope it fits the 015 just as nicely as the Cheely E2 does.
  9. With the election issues going on, the way things are going for the house and senate and the presidential election issues is anyone else waiting to sign up forajor matches? I really want to sign up for the Florida Open in 2021 but with it looking like Biden will win amd the Democrats holding a majority in the house of representatives and the senate being a very close margin I fear that the Biden team will use sweeping executive orders to shut down travel, gatherings, ect... Am I the only one thinking this or should I just sign up.
  10. Well guys I just bought a used perfect sight model. Should ship to me next week. Already talked to Johnny at Limcat and am going to have them install at least their metal grip and brass top magwell. I'm excited to get it.
  11. For the comp I know Dan @ D2 Customs makes his own using a EGW blank. I'm sure Gans can also make one.
  12. No need to cut the frame at all. None. TF makes a magwell for the rock islands that dont have the front of the grip cut like the RIA models with factory magwell. Use that one. Shooters connection has them. TF called it the Fattie "tall" model. Also Cheely may have some actual para magwells still, you may have to email him though. He was the one that made them for Remington when they came out with their "para" Remington models after buying Para. Another place to check is gunbroker, Ken's list, and Heavy Armor division. The gentleman that owns Heavy Armor does a lot of builds using Para frames.
  13. I used a alpha x with both my RIA doublestack with full dust cover, a old Para P16 dawson/Jarrett, and a new BUL Armory 2011. Used the BUL insert for all of them.
  14. Could do what I'm about to do. Couldn't decide which I liked better so I ordered a 40cal ribbed and threaded 5" OAL SVI barrel, the new atlas sight block with out the ball cut on the bottom.
  15. To make major PF with a 40 and comp you will need light bullets. Usually in the 155 and below range. I know Dan at D2 Customs has built a few. There are pros and cons to this setup though. One good thing about it is less wear on the gun. The thing I find that turns most people off is mag capacity but its 2 rounds max lost. And out of 20 stages how many are you really going to have that are 26 to 29 round stages where you wouldnt plan on a reload anyway? Probably 1 in 50 to be honest. Especially if there is steel or moving targets.
  16. Glad I found this thread and it had been updated a bit. I have a STI Edge with a Cheely E2 grip (original pattern) and am having a lot of issues with the DAA race master not wanting to release. Being left handed I also run into issues with finding a race holster for me. Currently I'm at a point with the DAA where I want to run it over with a dump truck and then melt it down into a block of aluminum and plastic. Going to get the 015 and see how it goes.
  17. Ben stoeger pro shop has some. Atlas Gunworks has them also. Last time I checked Shooters Connection was out of stock but may have some now.
  18. Check out Prasky Gunworks, he might be able to do one. Were working on a tisas clone right now that will have a red dot and weld on C&S magwell.
  19. My girlfriend shoots a sig 320 legion and loves it. I am having patriot defense do a trigger job and open up the optic cut on a Tanfo stock 2 OR so I can direct mount a RTS2 on it. Tried a shadow 2 a while ago and just didnt like it. And dont personally like the sig trigger. I think it's a personal preference thing as with any gun.
  20. Yes I seen that. Waiting on the actual pistols to come in.
  21. Perfect. That's what I figured. Talked to patriot defense and they are waiting on some to arrive in country. So I guess I shall wait patiently......
  22. When I look up the henning mag extension it says the 10mm and 40cal are different. And the 10mm one only goes to 19 rounds from 14 while the 40 cal goes from 15 to 20 rounds. What's the difference? I would think they just use a spacer or something for the 40 cal mags?
