  1. I have a JP CTR-02 with an 18" mid weight barrel. It is the most accurate of 9 ARs that I own including a Nordic and a Knight's Armament.
  2. I have one of the NC 22 uppers and have never had a problem of any kind with it.
  3. Put lacquer thinner on a rag wrapped around your finger and rub it back and forth lightly like polishing shoes.
  4. I put Kroil on mine and let it sit overnight. Then used a breaker bar and socket and it came off without a lot of effort. If I had to do it over again the impact wrench sounds like the way to go.
  5. You can take one of the magazine storage pouches and fold the flap back and have somebody sew a seam in it the width of your belt and just slide it on. You don't need to worry about any retention device because the magazines sit more than deep enough not to fall out.
  6. I have one of the spare bedrooms in my condo converted to a gun room. Safe, all guns and related equipment along with two benches are in there. I have one bench with loaders Dillon 1050 and 650 both with bullet feeders and a PW Shot Shell loader.
  7. I have two open guns with popple holes. One is a Limcat with six holes, the other is an Akai with five holes. My C-Mores look like new. I wipe them off with a lens cloth between stages. When I clean the gun or relube between matches I use a lens cloth and a Q tip to get around the edges of the lens. I use AA mounts.
  8. Another vote for the Safariland Cup Challenge.
  9. I use once fired brass for major matches. For local matches and practice I use the brass until it cracks or has loose primer pockets.
  10. It will work fine if the grip is properly prepped before you paint. Make sure is is completely degreased. You can scrub it with liquid dish detergent and the follow that up with rubbing alcohol. Use light even coats when spraying to prevent runs. After painting wait two days and spray with two coats of clear poly that is compatible with the Fusion paint. You will have a little wear and chipping on the trigger guard from the holster.
  11. You do benefit from an NRA Life Membership because they fight the anti gun crowd. As far as the USPSA goes you don't get anything. Look at the two organizations side by side to see where you money goes.
  12. I use a Redding Competition Seating Dies for every calibr I reload. Have them on my 650 and 1050s.
  13. Sounds like an interesting match. You have to think about ammo consumption and accuracy seems more important that USPSA. I also like the idea of only two spare magazines. Hope we can generate some interest in our area.
  14. The only thing I remember S&W sending prepaid shipping on were recalled guns. Obviously this is a CYA situation and they wanted to get them back to reduce their liability.
  15. They will be fine. I use small rifle primers for all of my 9 mm major, 40 S&W, 38 super ( minor revolver ) and 9 mm minor loads. Does not show any pressure signs or lack of sealing around primer on the light loads. I have also chronographed them and small pistol primers and there is very little difference between the two.
  16. I have used them all. My current holster is the Safariland 014. It is extremely secure when it is locked there is no way to get the gun out. The lock button is on the side of the holster in a perfect position to unlock it from a seated draw etc. The gun is solid in the holster locked or unlocked and the gun does not rattle around like most race holsters do. The mounting system works with the Safariland belt or any of the regular width belts on the market. Take a look at it before you decide.
  17. I am 64 and shoot with contacts. For Open Division I wear lenses for distance in both eyes. For a Limited and any iron sight shooting I do I wear a distance lens in my left eye ( non dominate ) and a close focus lens in my right eye ( dominate eye ). I take my guns with me when I have my eyes checked to confirm that everything is correct. I shoot with both eyes open.
  18. I have back up guns for all of my guns. I have only used a back up one time in the last 6 years. I had an ejector break on my open gun and rather than mess around with replacing it I just shot my back up. I had a fitted ejector in my bag for the main gun but did not want the distraction of taking the gun apart, replacing the ejector and putting it back together.
  19. I use Mobil 1 10 W 30. Guns clean up with a rag and a little Hoppes.
  20. I personally hate black guns specially Open guns. Just my opinion. There are some other colors available in the Cerracote finishes. They have a silver that looks just like hard chrome. Also Burnt Bronze is popular. Take a look at their website for a complete color chart. It wears as good as hard chrome.
  21. I agree with the trigger change without question. All it does is level the playing field for all of the Production guns. You can have a much nicer trigger on a CZ or Tanfoglio than you can on a Glock. Shooters should not be handicapped using a junk trigger. I also feel the same on grip reduction for the same reason. As far as Optics we have a Division for optics. If you want to shoot Optics go to Open. The only additional change if would like to see is a change from 10 rounds to 15 rounds like IPSC. I unfortunately don't have an Area Director so if someone would be kind enough to mention the 15 round limit I would appreciate it.
  22. I would love to see this whole fiasco be the beginning of the end of the USPSA. Would be nice to see a new organization formed that operates as a business in the best interest of the members. An organization that informs the membership of the direction it is taking and answers questions that are pertinent to the organization. A new organization that operates on top of the table instead of under it would be a giant step in the right direction.
  23. Tim McWhorter is an excellent rifle builder in addition to being a great shooter. I have known Tim for 25 years. At one time he was the US and European Field Target Air Rifle Champion and held numerous records in other rifle disciplines. Not only does he do excellent work but he understands from the competitors view what the rifle has to be capable of to be a top performer for a given discipline.
  24. I have progressed from the wagon to a custom golf cart. I have hereditary neuropathy in both legs and my left knee is bone on bone. I am to the point that I cannot walk more than 2 or 3 stages without my legs giving out. It is either ride or quit.
  25. I shoot shotguns, scoped rifles and my open gun with both eyes open. Iron sighted pistols and rifles past 15 yards I squint my left eye (non dominant). I have tried to learn to keep both eyes open and cannot due it without tape on my left lens. I feel that I loose depth perception with the tape. It is easy for me to slightly squint my left eye before breaking the shot and have the advantage of opening my left eye for transitions and movement through the stage. So I use both eyes when using target focus and squint my left eye when focusing on the front sight. I am 64 and wear Rudy Project Plano lenses with contacts that correct my vision to 20/20.
