  1. Do you have a link to the definition of your divisions? Most are self explanatory but "real rifle"& "todd ak" throw me. Plus maybe rules link? Thanks.
  2. Be sure the fail safe rod comes in from the left side not the right side. Everytime Ive seen the rod come in from the right, the powder drops were inconsistent.
  3. After a lifetime of holding a hammet I can tell you that you dont grip it hard. Same is the case with a gun. Mechanics & plumbers have strongest grips. Old carpenters that actually swing a hammer are next. Problem is while applying your grip in your daily job, you arent often manipulating a trigger. Youre gripping wrench not working your trigger. Try holding your gun as loosely as you can with your strong hand. Make it imperative that your weak hand holds the gun. It will be hard at first but you can find a balance with time. I know I will catch flack for this but give it a try. Most likely you could hold & fire your gun strong handed with just thumb & trigger finger & 1 other finger. You have too much grip strength in strong hand. Its very hard to turn that down but you can get there. Adjusting your strength to build agility is very much like a weight lifter trying to learn ballet. It takes different skill set but you have solid foundation to build on.
  4. Just to add if you are at slide lock & reload a new mag vigorously, bad things can happen. Broken ejectors...&.... wedged magazines nearly impossible to remove are 2 possibilities. Thats why most of us disable the followers.
  5. Just my experience but I tokk some 100grit sandpaper & lightly roughed up the matchsaver. I ran it in a circular manner, not long ways. Worked great. The plastic was so slick just wouldnt hold the shell consistently. Remember I said "lightly"!!!! Very lightly. Barely broke the shine lightly...
  6. I havent tried it but you might grind a little off the bottom of the follower. Might also clip just a little off the spring.
  7. Might be your shellplate is too loose on your 550. Something to check anyway.
  8. Dillon dealers are not allowed to sell dillon for less than list price by my understanding. It's an agreement to be a dillon dealer. Best you can do is get free shipping & far as I know, that has even stopped when Brian retired from selling dillon equipment. If you can get 10% off, you should go for it. I don't think it will ever get better. I suppose it is possible some little shop somewhere that has dillon in stock MAY make you a deal but if dillon finds out, I am pretty sure they can lose their dealership.
  9. Yep not fully seated primers.... aka high primers
  10. Lead bullets tend to smoke more than any others especially if they arent mated well to your gun or barrel. Also titegroup burns hotter than many powders which makes it worse.
  11. I agree with above posters. Ive carried a backup for several years & have rarely needed it. I prefer having a backup & not need it than need it & not have it. Also I like being self sufficient. Im not too proud to borrow someones gear if mine breaks but its nice knowing I probably wont have to. Also its nice having gear I can loan to friends if they have trouble.
  12. I think weighing .38 brass is not a very accurate way to count unless they are all the same brand. 38 cases vary dramatically in weight unlike most other caliber cases. If youre not trying to be exact, take any cup or scoop & fill it. Count how many fit & use that to fill your box. Fairly close.
  13. As always a great article from Patrick.
  14. I am in this process right now. Had a professional hearing doc make molds & send them off. Going in tomorrow to check the fit & hopefully walk out with them. Cost just under $200. Not cheap but hoping to stop damage already done from getting worse.
  15. What did you find was better with the millett than the strike eagle?
  16. 3 gun shooters run slugs & shot thru same chokes all the time. Often mixed up all in one stage. Lol
  17. Yes & No. After determining what you want to load, buy in bulk. Just got an order friday from powdervalleyinc.com & total insurance, shipping, & hazmat only added $1.13/lb. Had a 4lb v.v.n320 in order. Total on it was $110 which made it cost $27.50/lb. Almost as cheap as any locally bought powder of any cheap brand once you add tax. I load 4.3 gr so powder cost/rd is about .017. Not a bad price.
  18. My brass will vary way too much for that to work for me. 3 or 4 grain variance in mixed pistol brass is not uncommon plus bullet weight variance. I've never been able to do that.
