  1. Doc. Sorry to hear your striker failed. Was that at Weld? I have a later generation striker in my gun and, if I'm shooting production, I usually carry a spare (early generation). I have had two of the old generation strikers fail so far. The new ones look very robust. I don't expect it to fail, but a spare is good insurance after prior experiences. Look me up if it happens again and we at the same match.
  2. It's difficult to articulate a question about my own grip, but, So you're suggesting to "hold" the gun firmly as opposed to "grip" the gun? The grip emphasis being on "hold" rather than "squeezing" the grip with either hand? I'm asking because I have been exploring a change that seems to be evolving in my grip.
  3. My understanding would be that most electronicsin our headphones don't exactly protect. The purpose of the electronics is to amplify environmental sounds, that are muffled by the (non electronic elements)) of the earphone, when the electronics are not clipping (by design) amplification of outside sounds such as gunshots. Noise cancelling electronics may be another matter. In most cases, I think we are relying upon the ear muffs to muffle sounds (some frequencies more than others) and, in the case of electronic headphones, we rely on the electronics to amplify some frequencies such as the range of human voices so that we can hear them as they simultaneously clip harmful frequencies/dbs. The clipping isn't protecting, except from the electronics themselves. Someone who knows this stuff can correct me and comment on noise cancellation technology. Like Aircooled, I hope this is helpful
  4. I have a question similar to the OP. I hope it is appropriate to post it within this thread. I've searched the forum for an answer. Perhaps I didn't search properly. Anyway, What is the hot optical sight set up for steel open rimfire, if one isn't squeamish about modifying a M41? I have a 5.5" that has already been lightened and the iron sights removed. No concerns about chipping it now. Mine currently has an Ultra Dot mounted. If a C-more is best, what is the best way to mount the C-more? Would a C-more be more practical than say an STS style sight for an open rimfire? Thanks for your thoughts or any pointers to the info I'm looking for.
  5. Shooter's meeting is at 9 am. Set up around 7am. 5 stages.

Nice win on Sunday. Good shootin! and good shootin with ya. you were blazin.
  7. Your M&P is proof positive that something can be both sweet and bhadhass at the same time. Trigger is very light and crisp with good reset and the sights track consistently. Thanks for the time with your M&P. Very impressive! It was equally good to meet Ms. Panda (first time for me). I hope she shoots eats shoots & sticks around the range!
  8. I did not care for the huge fiber optic blob that the (.180, I think)stock sight came with. Fiting a .160 fiber optic with a .40 diameter fiber optic solved the POA/POI problem for me.
  9. Is this the data you are looking for? I believe I got it from this site. My first attempt at posting a pdf. Solo_1000_Load_data_(8thEdHandgunS100012501500RSDPearl_).pdf
  10. Good choice on the M&P Charlie. I really like 'em. My Pro was prepared by SSS's gunsmith and returned with a 2.75lb trigger. It had (has) quite a bit of take-up. Very little overtravel. Steve Moore slightly reduced the take-up with a screw. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't hold me back. Steve also did an M&P fs .40 for me. This trigger was actually lighter and the break very crisp, however the reset wasn't as positive. Overall, I prefered it slightly to my Pro trigger, because the trigger release point was further forward than on the Pro. Different preferences and different approaches for different shooters. I'm not so strong as a DIY'er so I rely on the skills and knowledge of gunsmiths. I expect you will get your trigger where you want it. Should be great fun to watch you burn down a few stages with your new production gun.
  11. Just wanted to add my appreciation for your efforts to build a practical application for practical shooting on Android. I've downloaded it onto my motorola and will play with it this week and weekend. Thanks!
  12. I have been shooting an M&P Pro 9 in production for a year or so. Great shooter for that division. I recently came into an STI Edge. I haven't shot it very much yet but even as at major power factor it is a very flat shooting gun compared to my M&P. I do like them both. I hate to put one down to shoot the other.
  13. I started with a p226 in production, in a Sidearmor holster. A 229 shouldn't hold you back for quite a while, although someday you could make a different choice. CR Speed or Double Alfa for the belt. As far as mag pouches, I much like my Ready Tacticals, purchased through a forum dealer, for Production Division. Because of their small size, you can get a lot of them on your belt and still reach them. Production is a great division and you will have a lot of fun with your P229.

    Obscuring the Present

Does sadness or suffereing "occur"? be Seeing obscurations as the present moment (as opposed to seeing the present moment as obscurations)is maybe cessation of "carrying the past (present or future) into the present". just a thought.

    Obscuring the Present

Since nothing can occur in the past present or future, how can the present moment be obscurred?
  16. I am very fond of my German folded slide P226 with competition trigger from Grey Guns. I prefer it to any factory Sig I have tried, including X-Fives. The Dawson front is fine. If I had it to do over, I might mount a Heinie on the rear instead of the Warren. Hogue aluminum grips are a worthwhile upgrade even for the old plastic checkered grips). Identifying a German P226 and sending it off to Bruce is more of a project, but it
  17. Fiddler, since you asked, I also can shoot better groups freestyle than off a bench, but I am pretty sure it's my technique, not the M&P.
  18. My FTE problems showed up at around 900 rounds. The frequency was once per 150 to 200 rounds. The problem was eliminated by changing to the SSS extractor and extra power extractor spring. I am of the opinion that fitting the extractor, original or SSS, so that the hook of the extractor is allowed to go deeper in the rim, will elimiminate the FTE problem in most instances. Since having the SSS extractor fit, I have had zero failures over maybe ten thousand rounds.
  19. Ironic that we discussed this on the squad I was on last weekend. I think we all concluded we were in it for the money and (like BSEEVERS) the chics.
  20. I own HP-1s but have prefered Sordins when I have tried (borrowed) them.
  21. Polishing the chamber did not fix the FTE problems with my M&P Pro, however it has not failed to extract over several thousand rounds since adding a SSS tooled steel extractor and the extra power extractor spring. I run a tungston GR with a 15# recoil spring. The aftermarket spring seems somewhat lighter than the stock spring. I hope you achieve the same extraction reliability. Now I am wishing for an improved striker. I think that remains a weak area on the M&P.
  22. Bart's logic is inscrutable. There isn't a good business case to be made for an M&P .40 5". Still, after many years in operations management in some pretty successful companies, I must say that I have never worked for a company that wasn't compelled to proliferate new models, flavors, versions, etc., needed or not. Surely S&W will need, for whatever reason, to make some noise at Shot Show. I am hoping they will decide that they might be able to produce some longslide .40s without stressing out their capacity too greatly and then we will all have another great choice in Limited guns. OK, my logic isn't sound, but I crave an M&P Pro .40.
  23. miyamoto, Too bad you are having problems with your M&P. I agree with every point you made in your post. There are a lot of choices in good production guns out there that probably won't have as many problems as you are experiencing with your L. I've had my share with FTEs and two broken strikers. It's just that the M&P Pro shoots so much better for me than the other production guns i've tried... Good luck with whatever you choose to shoot.
  24. That's a good looking folded slide P226. Plastic and stainless steel guns just don't develop the same sort of character due to wear. True. Unfortunately I sent it in to GGI for a broken rol pin and barrel refit and without asking they gave the slide a cheap reblue.
  25. They just asked if I could install it myself and dispatched it to me immediately by USPS. S&W customer service is very good.
