  1. I don't belive the safety issues is during the act of decocking the gun, it's in the condition of the gun after being decocked. If a hammer is placed at half cock on a gun without a firing pin block you now have a gun with a cocked hammer above the firing pin with no safety system to stop it from dropping onto the firing pin if it were to slip off the hammer hook. If that were to happen would it set off the primer? Maybe maybe not. Now all the way decocked on a gun with no firing pin block is not entirely fool proof, striking the hammer sharply with a hard object, like a hammer could transfer the energy to the firing pin needed to get it to the primer (think Newtons Cradle) Personally (and apparently accepted by multiple governing bodies and manufacturers) I will take the chance that my holstered gun will not be struck sharply on its hammer between make ready and the start beep, over hoping the half cock set up in my pistol was designed to be used that way. 2. Oddly looking at the CZ 75 users manual it says to lower the hammer till it rests on the action or safety thumb (whatever that is) so I guess all the way down is where they think it should go. even if the safety thumb is some weird translation for half cock then it is a either or proposition and selecting all the way down as default is probably safer given the rule covers all DA guns and not all guns have firing pin blocks. from the CZ75 users manual " Load the pistol. Grasp the grip, POINT IN A SAFE DIRECTION. With thumb press on the grooved area (thumb piece) of the hammer, pull the trigger and release the hammer slowly ahead (Fig. 6) until it rests on the action or safety thumb of the hammer. Release the trigger. Practise this operation very carefully to avoid an accidental discharge! We strongly recommend to practise this operation beforehand with the pistol unloaded! "
  3. I think that is most likely the case. especially when one of the rules bodies has gone to great lengths to be different than the other is so many other ways.
  4. Weird that at least two action shooting governing bodies have come to the same conclusion that half cock is not where you lower a hammer to. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  5. Yes, most of the internals are the same as the metal frame guns, just housed in a removable metal insert in the plastic frame. Working on them requires pulling that insert out to access the pins to remove some of the parts Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  6. Not unfair or unsafe, it's just how those guns are designed to be used. Would you rather have a hammer partially cocked on a gun without a firing pin block? I know I would not. Unless you have installed an extremely long aftermarket firing pin when the hammer on most (all?) DA guns is all the way down the firing pin is not touching the primer. As for un fair many guns have different trigger systems find one you like and use it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  7. What I meant was you could hug cover before and in many cases it was the fastest way to engage the targets. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  8. I understand the concept I just belive the way it had been implemented was poor. It was set up as if you could engage one or more targets then a couple seconds later stick all the important parts of your anatomy around the corner to get to some mythical bad guy that was dumb enough to to not pop you in the upper torso the second you stuck your head out. Basically if that target 45 deg. further around the corner isn't going to pop your brain bucket the second you stick it out there is a very good chance you have no business shooting him in the first place. 9. From a rules stand point that has not changed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  10. I hate to say this but what you are describing actually makes more sense "tactically" I always thought it was ridiculous to pie around a corner for each new target to appear. In my mind by the time you have engaged 1 or 2 dudes around a corner the element of surprise has been lost and any additional targets way further around the corner have most likely moved or are actively firing at you, either way your done there for the time being. So having less targets a a single point of cove before needing to move on is more realistic. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  11. I guess that was a bit more of a troll than I was meaning. my point is within reasonably large bounds the gun just doesn't matter, so if you are a xx% shooter with a Shadow and run out and get a Shadow 2 you will continue to be a XX% shooter. Now if the new Shadow (or Glock or FN or HK or Beretta or Smith or 1911 or Tanfo or Taurus or Grand Power or ?) gets you to practice more because its new and you like it you will probably improve, if not then everything will remain the same.
  12. I would say its fine in CO and OPEN, and illegal in every other division. from their web site " SEE THE MICRO OPTIC IN ACTION " they call it an optic so I would go with that. from a shooting with it in CO perspective I would say it is probably not going to be very competitive at all because the sight only works if you are all ready aiming directly at your target much if any misalignment and you will be doing the c-more shuffle. most shooters in CO are looking for the largest sight they can get that will hold up to being slide mounted. also this sight is not adjustable you mount it and then hope, good luck on that 20yd plate rack. you mentioned not wanting to mill your slide for an optic, easy solution get a dove tail adapter, they work just fine
  13. USPSA is just like any other hobby, some people are competitive and are looking to test themselves against others, most are happy to participate in the activity. USPSA is at its core a competition so some (most) people do not want to participate because of that. I recently talked my wife into shooting with me and she is not a competitive person by nature, she enjoys the shooting and the camaraderie but is still bothered by the fact that it is a competition and even though she doesn't really have a desire to win she is scared by the possibility of loosing it presents.
  14. why would it not be? Currently, Shadows and Shadow targets are very popular even though Tanfoglios are wining the championships with GLOCKs right on their tails.
  15. In L10 there is actually an advantage with 45s, you get bigger holes Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  16. I thought it was 1.1.6 but that might just be the one I need to remind shooters about at my matches
  17. The polymer Tanfoglio's are similar to the metal guns in grip and internals but are not the same. There is a ledge on the sides of the grip at the back that hits me right in the thumb joint when I ride the safety, not the end of the world bit I find it annoying. The grip is also a bit smaller around. The internals are a bit harder to work on as they are housed in a removable metal block that also has the frame rails in it. Also the safeties are different with the detent not being in the frame. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  18. Just to clarify I do not think this is a good idea, it was more a reductio ad absurdum The point being in a defensive use if force a 10 second perfect shot will always loose to a 1 second slightly less good shot and the 30 other shots that could be taken in that period of time. 19. I keep seeing statements to the affect that accuracy is not valued enough under the current scoring system, not something I agree with but it is being said, so if Accuracy is actually the most important aspect of the shooting challenge then why why don't they change it so the Highest score wins and time is used to sort scoring ties. so shooter 1 scores 100 points in 200 seconds and shooter 2 scores 99 points in 100 seconds then shooter 1 beats shooter 2 if shooter 3 shoots also 99 points but takes 101 second then they get third ect. The challenge in the game would be to see who could shoot a perfect score the quickest, for those unable to shoot a perfect score the challenge would be to see how close they can get. to increase the challenge you could further limit the number of rounds a shooter is allowed to start with so they would have less makeup shots available.
  20. Costco has clear trash bags that work good https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00O88EXEO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480823295&sr=8-1&keywords=kirkland+clear+trash+bags&pi=SX200_QL40 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  21. Why does everyone keep saying it's easier to score? Is anyone actually scoring by hand on a note pad? With programs like practiscore it doesn't matter if it's + .36758533 per point down, the computer (or tablet to be specific) does the math Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  22. Good point I forgot about sub 9mm guns Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  23. Ahh but we have a division for every gun out there, its just you may not be able to win shooting your scoped Contender 45-70 in open
  24. It's not a "game" it's a competition that's why we have timers and score the targets. What you describe sounds like a fun practice day with your friends , but not a competition Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  25. If someone can get that figured out for a easy root then I think we have a winner, getting rain on the screen is the biggest issue I have with the NST, luckily we don't have much dust at our range.
