  2. Guy on here put in an SV wide billet with minimal fitting. Should work fine. I plan on putting one in next month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yup. They tend to have very good prices and sell out quickly. But with that said, I've bought to guns from them without issue and quick shipping.
  4. I use Make Ready. It does have a par time. Haven't used it in live fire but for my dry fire situation, it works well enough.
  5. Sorry to hear that my friend. Adopted dogs are by far the best ones out there. God Speed!
  6. I've never had an issue with a major headstamp and the crimped stuff was dated as Sarge mentioned. How did you clean the brass? Might have to decap & reclean to use it. Hrmmm good excuse for a Frank. Arsenal wet tubmler!
  7. Blade-Tech makes a holster specific for the RIA full dust cover double stack guns. I've got one on order but keep flirting with the idea of a Race holster.
  8. Basically what he said. I fished hard for years in Tampa and South Florida; out on the flats from 6am to 4pm pretty much year round. Try out a few different brands of "performance wicking" shirts. I'm personally a fan of columbia stuff but have a no-name that works as well. Wearing a visor, appropriate sunscreen and keeping about every inch of my body covered helped tremendously. I was that goofball with the keen sandles, Columbia fishing pants, long sleeve wicking shirt, buff over the neck & face, visor, and wrap-around sun glasses. I may have stayed a nice milky white but was cool & avoiding skin cancer. I do like the black ice / cold wrap kind of items. Use them around your neck, specifically the main arteries, cool the blood = cool the core. If you pour cold water on your head then make sure to dry your head afterwards, otherwise that water will get hot & start to trap heat.
  9. Nick I had a similar question on a RIA / Para 2011; another poster shared this info from Saul/DAA "A 1911 insert would be the best fit, but possibly some fitting to the insert will be required. Not all 1911s are identical in their trigger guard area. Also, I would recommend you consider the optional muzzle support part. The round trigger guards of 1911 guns make it very difficult to keep them motionless in the holster when grips only on their trigger guard, as even with a perfect fit, the gun can rotate through the radius of the trigger guard. The 1911s are in fact why we started offering the muzzle support option. Best Regards, Saul Kirsch"
  10. Anyone running a Race Master holster for these? Any idea what locking block is correct? ShootersConnection has a "1911 Steel Frame/Para (old)" and "Para Ordnance (newer)" option on their website.
  11. From a new guy - have not learned how, yet.
  12. Husker - What load data? I'm getting ready to work up AutoComp, WSF, and WST for 180's in a RIA 2011.
  13. Well it's 4 days for LA folks and that doesn't make a week on the Texas calendar
  14. If you watch the DAA video, also read it somewhere, that the guns with square & flat trigger guards mainly caused the issue. The trigger guard would catch on the latch and push it down during reholstering. But as it's been said, the magnets fix the problem by pushing the block/catch all the way to the top, allowing enough clearance for the offending trigger guards to fit easily.
  15. Welcome! You know to read the manuals, check all dimensions & weights, and that online recipes are not to be 100% trusted. One nice thing about metallic reloading is the lack of specific recipes, ie not a specific primer brand for a specific load.
  16. The RIA 2011 with steel grip configuration weights 46oz. Add the weight of your magwell and it'll get you close.
  17. Welcome from Houston! Lots of good matches to be found and this place is a wealth of info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Welcome from Houston! If'n you make it to a match down this way, let me know! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yup, LSI and Area 4 Champ in September is at Rosenberg. Oilfield is at Beleville in September too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Damn that's a serious loading there Maj. I'm interested in converting my G35, so please do keep us updated! Per Hodgdon's Website for AutoComp Min - 135gr NOS JHP - @ 1.125 8.0gr - 1,236fp - 26,600psi Max - 135gr NOS JHP - @ 1.125 8.8gr - 1,342fps - 32,700psi
  21. I've had nothing but good results with Dillion dies and I'm staying with them. Adjusting the Dillon seating die is easy, have you had issues with your 9mm dies? If the brass you get has the 'glock bulge' or similar, the best thing to use is a push-thru sizing die. Either a Lee Bulge Buster (needs the .40 Factory Crimp Die) or G-RX Push Thru will take care of the bulge. I plan on ordering the Lee to use on my Turret press for times it is needed, otherwise it just goes into the cleaned & ready to load bin. With the push-thru you need a single stage or turret, it will not work with a progressive. But with the caveat on the glock bulge, I've got through about 500 piece of just purchased range brass without one bad case yet. I think the bulge issue is kinda blown out of proportion. I'm new to loading .40 as well, so take my comments for what they are.
  22. Had a forward faller not fall for myself and one other shooter last match. Turned out when someone reset the popper (once was me) putting the rear tab up too high it would not fall.
  23. For all of you around Houston, do you know of any ranges where one can practice drills for USPSA? All of the public ranges, that I know of, do not allow drawing from a holster, much in the way of rapid fire, any transitions, etc. Yes, there are a few private or membership ranges that give you leeway but getting in is akin finding unicorn poo. I'm looking into purchasing some land but really want to find a cheaper option! If you have any ideas, I'm all ears!
  24. We are not totally under water here, my part of town stays pretty dry though. Family in Elgin came down a few weeks ago, the Brazos is in seriously bad condition. You coming down for the Texas State in Rosenberg MReed?
