  1. Got it. Thanks Tanks!
  2. Oooh that is nice? I've got "normal" hands and probably would need a grip reduction as well. I can't find the price on their website, do you mind PM'ing me a ballpark price?
  3. Tino I bet he meant millimeters but that is even quite a bit! I could see putting a small drop under the sight to lock in. Oh and send some stroopwafels my way when you get a chance. My wifes family is Dutch via Indonesia in WWII.
  4. Sorry OP I can't offer any advice. But HOLY CRAP this is confusing. No wonder I shoot the potato head rated 3 gun and USPSA matches, I'd never remember the rules of IDPA. Haha.
  5. Which model number? Assuming it is 51623, it is a LPA cut. You can change it at home if you're comfortable with the possibility of doing a little fitting. See this as an example of the sight: http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/rear-sights/1911-lpa-rear-sight-prod27287.aspx
  6. Ooowee that is a sweet looking shotgun! How does it balance with that large of a magazine?
  7. No help but I sure can't do it, heck I can't hardly use binoculars either... It doesn't help being cross eye dominant either.
  8. Sounds like a sight alignment issue? I would think you are moving your wrists to adjust the dot location not moving your arms/core. Can you take video from the side during dry fire to see how you adjust? This will show if you've moving your head, hands/wrists, or arms.
  9. I think you would have finished dang close keep the same pace as the previous plates, especially without the mike. I reserve index/point shooting for within 5 yards and big targets with anything else I wanna see the sights line up.
  10. Thanks EEH. Dude backed out so nevermind the q!
  11. I see you already ordered but I've been running Bayous 147 in my G34, happy camper!
  12. Oops sorry I cut it 4" shorter than the starting length... I thought that was 12". I am at 12" (16" - 4" = 12" ) past the tube, every is working fine.
  13. I'm selling a few things and have a guy offering to trade a Colt 100 year anniversary Tier III for about $1k worth of my stuff. Pictures show the Colt is LNIB with all the tags and associated stuff. What is it worth on the open market? I can't find much info on the interwebs. Thanks!
  14. I located an RIA double stack 40, now I gotta sell a few things to buy it!
  15. Wow! I didn't realize RIA made a double stack 40, now I gotta find one! That ticks the 1911/2011 box and the Limited box! I know what you mean about the accessories, still not quite setup with my G35 and I'm in the neighborhood of $300 in mags/extensions/pouches etc.
  16. RJ - I do like the RI / Para guns but something just hangs me up about them, no idea what. I guess the 2011 platform in my mind is fraught with reliability issues, ie tweaking & tuning often, especially magazines. I wish the RIA 2011 was available in 40. Pert - I have shot 1911's some, mainly rented on the indoor range and I like them. I've shot a Sig P226 in 9mm, which I assume is similar to CZ, it felt odd compared to my standby Glock, but the grip felt huge. I already load for 9mm, 40, and 45, so ammo isn't an issue and I am not too concerned about minor/major at the moment.
  17. Well I don't know if this is the right place but here we go... I've got a disease that is called "NEXT" syndrome, I am sure a few of you are familiar with this. It does not appear to be curable and is seriously kicking my butt right now! If you are not familiar, essentially I LOVE what I have for a while and then ready for something new/different. Thankfully my wife does not fall into that category, it'd be too damn expensive to replace her. With that said I've been shooting Glocks for about 6 years, since I stared shooting actually, along with a little time on S&W wheel guns and now I'm itching for something else. I'm shooting in limited with my Glock 35 but just want something different. I've been eyeballing the CZ Tactical Sports in 40 for limited and 1911's for single stack; I've never spent much time on a single action trigger. My budget is right at $1,000, I know the CZ is just over that and no I cannot get another grand for a used 2011. Only thing really holding me back from SS is my carry gun is a Glock (commonality of practice & carry) and our local USPSA club has on average 2 SS shooters. I don't want to shoot in a division with that few people or should I compare my scores to the overall match? Soooo, what do y'all recommend?
  18. Haha well there you go! I wish we had the space to load inside but no dice. I just try to do the bulk of my loading October through March. During the warmer months, early am or later after the sun goes down to beat the heat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Dude, there ain't nothing you can do to beat the humidity on the gulf coast. Well, 'cept staying inside with the bought air 355+ days per year. Like Flat said, a nice fan or cross breeze helps greatly.
  20. I reload in Houston in the garage. Powder and primers are in a cabinet at the bench in factory packaging. No issues in 5 years. But I am gonna move my powders and primers away for storage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yup that's the way to get the shell out. I have massaged that shell catch similar to Cody, but did not take all of the round nub off. It works just fine. M3K with +4 Nordic Tube & spring cut 8" longer than tube.
  22. I've had the same thoughts as you Stevie, in a very similar position as well! Kiddo (first one!) is 8 weeks old, got a Glock 34 & 35, and have an itch for a 2011. I've loved 1911's for the longest time and once the world of competition shooting and 2011's entered my mind, it's been a bad thing! Anyhoo, I'm still shooting 1 local match per month and plan on a "big" match every quarter; we have the Texas Open here in Rosenberg next month. With that said I've dropped 3 gun in favor of USPSA, due to time requirements, ammo cost & availability of local matches. My opinion, take it for what it's worth, just pick ONE sport right now. My wife and I worked out a deal that I get essentially 1 day per month that is solely Scott time and 1 hour a day for dry fire drills. This will change as our son gets a little older but for now, it is the fair and right thing for the family. One general question I have for the crowd regarding 2011's, what is the maintenance schedule and/or expected reliability? I have heard they are finicky to keep running? Multiple times at locals matches guys have them apart (field stripped) between stages. I want a killer 2011 but not willing to sacrifice time & reliability for the cool factor.
  23. $6/box Estate 1oz loads from Academy have run like goose poop in my M3K. I keep hearing bad things about the Win. value packs, not gonna try them!
  24. Used pro grip, will have to look at climbers chalk now.
  25. As another new guy to USPSA, I agree that dry fire is making a difference. Just watching my times come down on the drills, along with the site picture coming in faster is going to have a big impact next match.
