  1. I have built some of the same with the CMMG MK9 lower. I took the mags that didn't drop free and used a vice to make them a couple of thousandths thinner. Doesn't take much. I have done this to over 30 Metalforms. (I have friends that need help too. ) Be gentle and go a little at a time until you find the right dimension. Very easy. I also use a dry lubricant, EEZOX, on the magwell and mags.
  2. Looks like Les hit the firing pin on the head:
  3. You are going to see different start positions depending on the match director. I have started low ready, stock on belt, hand on X, PCC on table, loaded, unloaded, etc. You just need to be ready to go from any position they call for in a stage. If there is a question, ask for clarification at the beginning of the stage. With different match directors and different match locations you are not going to find everyone doing it one way.
  4. My 2 Colts (one pistol, one carbine) runs reliably. My CMMG Guard runs reliably. I have built 4 other Colts, all run reliably. If you build your own, you might have to fit or massage parts. If I build any more, they will be CMMG Guards with a hydraulic buffer. (You need to use a 3.25" carbine buffer, not the 4".) I would certainly build them using CMMG Guard barrel, BCG, upper and lower. They did their homework and these parts really work together. I don't reload, I shoot Fiocchi 115 FMJ.
  5. That makes sense. My next project. I see some metal displacement on my current pins (which have plenty of rounds). I will put in a new pin after I round it and compare.
  6. I am now using Venoms on all my guns, PCC, CO and .556. Best warranty of any optic. Good glass, crisp sight, very light, not too expensive. I'm embarrassed to say how many I have and how long I have been using Vortex (too many and too long ), but I have never had to use their warranty.
  7. We flag it and then press the trigger. Can't get any safer than that. The hammer isn't involved that way.
  8. Looks like your timing will just miss my 3-day PCC class. Guess I will have to take a spare.
  9. There are 5 pages of posts in the "Ruger PC Carbine" topic in this forum.
  10. I was told that was the design of the buffer. It was for competition shooters that didn't care about LRBHO. I was told to take out the plastic spacer at the end of the buffer tube. Instead, I milled the plastic spacer until I had LRBHO.
  11. I have had zero issues with OEM Glock 33 round mags. Because I do reloads instead of spliced magazines, I generally use the Magpul 21 round magazines, thanks to Eric's recommendation. Zero issues with those also. I feel the problems are due more to the lower manufacturers than the Glock mags. Some manufacturers redo their lowers under warranty. My CMMG Guard has a great lower. I have had zero problems with it in any way: feeding, locking in the magazine, dropping free, etc.
  12. Fake suppressor (while mine is in jail) and mag inserted.
  13. 3 lug flash suppressor, Law Tactical extended with Tailhook Mod 1.
  14. Folded up and compact enough to fit in almost anything. Bare barrel and 2" handguard. Law tactical folder. Spikes lower. Matrix slick sided, side charger. Vortex Venom red dot. POF trigger.
  15. According to Brownell's, CMMG uses the same firing pin as Colt (Colt part SP62805) does in their 9mm AR. So does CBC Industries, Rock River and PSA, as far as I can tell. A quick call to Wilson should confirm it or not. If I were guessing, Wilson would use the same as the Colt because they advertise it generically. Let us know.
  16. Moving the mag forward just makes so much sense. I wonder why everyone that makes a dedicated lower doesn't do that.
  17. Did they use your mags or their own when testing? That may be the difference.
  18. Here is what I use. Can't go wrong for only $20. Very easy to carry, case and uncase. Rifle Scabbard on Amazon
  19. Crap, I knew I shouldn't have answered this post. I'll share as soon as I take some pics.
  20. I think how mags drop may be due to the lower receiver's clearances. My CMMG Guard has no problems, especially with using a dry lube.
  21. Too much fun! I put together a pistol with a law tactical folder and a 5" 3-lug barrel so I could pop on a silencer. Silencer will be released from jail in about 9 months.
  22. Again, it really doesn't matter what zero you use, you just have to know your offsets. With my 25 yard zero my 75 yard hold is -.8. I don't even need to allow for that small an offset. I am at zero again at about 86 yards.
  23. It doesn't matter so much where you zero as much as knowing your offsets. You can get your offsets with a ballistic program such as Strelok, which is available for phones. There are also some ballistic calculators on line, but it is much easier to have a good one on your phone. I think the Pro version was only $5. You need to measure your sight height over center of bore and put in the bullet information. Very easy and you can sight in any distance you want. I do confirm with live fire but have never found a measurable difference with 9mm out to 100 yards. I sight in at 25 yards with a 2.7 inch sight height for my Vortex Venom. With 115 FMJ 9mm at 1300 fps, my holdovers at different yards are: 5 > 1.8 10 > 1.2 15 > .9 20 > .4 25 > 0 30 > -.4 35 > -.7 40 > -.9 45 > -1.1 50 > -1.2 The first zero is at 25 yards and you aim low after that until the second zero at about 85 to 90 yards, where you would start aiming higher again. You need to know your arc. You are within about an inch from 10 to 45 yards. If you are at an indoor range you are pretty much sighted in for a 25 yard zero if your shots are .9 below your aiming point at 15 yards. I use a BC of .159, but it may vary for your choice of bullets. Those of you into reloading will be able to dial in for your specific loads.
  24. You have to use a clam shell vise block, not a magazine vise block.
