    red dot

I just started shooting open division this year, so the red dot is a new experience for me. Still not used to it, but I'm getting there. I have a C-More and love it. Simple. Durable. Reliable. Everything I would want in a dot.
  2. Yesterday was high 80's with near 100 heat index. Lived here my whole life, but still can't stand the humidity.
  3. I second the recommendation of giving it a little more time. I've been shooting Open for a couple of months now and, quite honestly, I feel the same way you do about it. I've talked with several of the shooters at our local matches, who shoot virtual every division, and all pretty much said to stick with it for at least a year and if I don't enjoy it at the end of the year, then maybe it's good to move on. That seems like solid advice to me, so I'm following it. It also helped that some of them said they would be happy to buy my open pistol if I don't like it
  4. I'm not competitive and I'm ok with that It was like golf when that was my main sport/hobby. Better than many, but certainly not all, but I had a lot of fun with it, and that's what mattered to me.

    Glock porn

    Wow - that is wild!
  6. Wow - that is an amazing pistol!
  7. I was just ribbing you The first time I mounted a camera on my hat I had it adjusted so high you could only see the top of the targets. It was basically a video full of looking at the berms
  8. I'm still relatively new myself. I think you did a fine job. As a fellow "camera on head" recording guy, please adjust your camera up, if possible Regarding the primer issue, I do the same thing Hi-Power Jack suggested, and I check them when I reload them before I put them in the ammo box. Looking forward to seeing future videos. Keep up the good work!
  9. Awesome! Kudos to you for bringing your friend out to a match, and the fine sportsmen for helping you all out. I love stories like this!

    That is a sweet gun!
  11. I have both eyes open, but I'm going with the Yeti theory. It seems I have to force my eyes to scan right to left. And these targets didn't have a large angular separation so no reason to rotate my head. I feel the same way as RickT. I'm very right eye dominant and my eyes naturally seem to move left to right. I am also an avid reader, so there's a good chance the left to right of that is part of it. I'm going to continue to work on right to left to see if I can get the times at least somewhat close.
  12. I find that I am much faster going left to right also. I'm trying to practice right to left more to try to bring the directions closer to each other.
  13. I won't pretend to understand the background and politics involved, but I echo hoping that steel challenge continues on. It is what got me started in action pistol events and is still my true favorite. I plan to have my son start shooting steel events with me in the next year or two.
  14. Looks to me like you did well on your first match. Much better than I did Keep it up.
  15. Seems like I need to try some other weight bullets . . . I've shot several thousand rounds of 115gr Xtreme plated round nose and like them.
  16. Looks really nice! Thank you for the report. Looking forward to a range report.
  17. Runs well through mine as well
  18. I second this. That said, I did quite well in IDPA with my good 'ol Glock 19 (my EDC). But, you mentioned that you didn't necessarily like Glocks, which is why I second an M&P Pro with Apex trigger kit. Also, I think the STI Trojan 5.0 in 9mm is IDPA legal. It's a great gun - I know . . . I own one Admittedly, it may be a few hundred dollars over your $900 target, unless you can find a good used one.
  19. Steel is a lot of fun - welcome to the club! I'm looking forward to when my kids get into it too. Have fun!
  20. Did you mean 4" groups at 50 yards? 14" groups seems like quite a spread. I've reloaded about 2,500-3,000 rounds using Xtreme 115gr plated 9mm. Shoot them out of both a STI Trojan and a STI Steelmaster. I can regularly have 2-3" groups at 25 yards offhand. Easily 2" from a rest at the same distance. Farthest I've shot them from so far was 40 yards and they were 3-4" groups off hand.
