  1. Now that is a tough looking crowd. Way out of my league! :-) Can't wait for another great match at the Whittington Center.
  2. This was a great match! Had a terrific time and will be back next year for sure. The stage with all the TINY rams was tough but the only person on our squad to go one for one was a Limited shooter! Of course he also won Limited so .......
  3. This is going to be a great match. I can't wait! Get on our squad Mike, we will let you shoot the match. :-)
  4. I have a 1.5-6 XTR with the 7.62 reticle and it is almost perfect with my 69 gr loads. I have used this out to 600 yds with no problems. With 55 gr loads it will shoot a little high at the longer distances.
  5. Yep same time as FB3 Gun. Sure hate to miss HDC. Not sure about motels but I know the RV park raises their prices 50% for the Ballon Festival.
  6. Yes Howard really enjoyed shooting revolvers. He will be missed. RIP.
  7. So rumor has it that this will be in the SMM3G match. If this is indeed true my question for the match staff is this, will there be provisions for people that medically cannot be in this position?
  8. In the past we did not do self squadding but below is the confirmation email I received. Guess we will have to wait for another email but sure would be nice to know when the self squadding will start. Welcome to the 12th Annual Western States Single Stack Championship Match to be held March 6-9, 2014. The match will be hosted by Rio Salado Sportsman's Club Practical Division (http://www.RioPractical.com/WSSSC/wsssc.htm ), located on Usery Pass Road in Mesa, AZ. This match is a USPSA Level II sanctioned match and will follow all current USPSA rules. To shoot this match, a current USPSA membership number is required. If you do not want to join USPSA, you will not be allowed to shoot this match. Please let me know before February 1 and your match fee will be refunded to you. This match will consist of 13 stages plus Chrono. The match will be using the self squadding feature on the www.uspsa.org website under Club Support, Self Squadding. The web site will open on February 5th and will close on February 15th . Currently, squads are limited to 15 shooters. An additional email will follow with more details on the self-squadding process. Please check the match webpage for other match details as they are firmed up. See you at the match, Cheryl Carstensen WSSSC Chief Statistician Stats@RioSaladoSportsmans.com
  9. So is anyone else having problems with squadding? Says the match is administratively locked.
  10. Contact Brandon. You will never regret having the best.
  11. If this during the Ballon Festival won't lodging be either nonexistent or very expensive?
  12. 50 6 Rd freestyle 6 sec25 3 reload 3 6 Sec 15 6 SHO 6 Sec 10 6 WHO 6 Sec Fun! Eta: may of been 5 sec... Thanks. I was thinking it was 5 seconds but was not sure.
  13. I also have shot a 1100 for 3 gun competition for many years and learning the gun and proper maintenance is essential. As mentioned above make sure the o ring is good, buy in bulk and replace it before a major match. The piston/mag tube needs lub but not oil. Go to a farm supply and buy an aerosol can of John Deere spray graphite. Spray this area with the graphite, not too heavy, just enough to cover it. This will last for a year or longer then re-apply if needed. I think this is one of the most important things I have done to make the 1100 more reliable. Keep the barrel hood/bolt area oiled, I have seen many times when a couple drops of oil in this area would get a jamming gun to cycle properly. Keep the gas ports clean. Find the proper size drill bit and use it to clean the ports.
  14. If Don means his body feels whipped from the match, I'm with him. After the first day at this year's match, I felt I was lucky to make up to the second floor of the hotel. Even with that, I'm looking forward to 5 days of shooting there. That is exactly what I was refering to. Those mountains are getting taller, steeper, rougher, etc......................... And I am looking forward to 5 days of it!
  15. I agree also but when I drive out the gate after the match I feel 10 years older!
  16. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
  17. Ok, I will chime in. I'm not even a computer nerd but I had all the info typed in ahead of time and as soon as the practice button changed to save I pushed it. Made it in and am #75.
  18. If you can detail strip an SV pistol then you can change it from 9 to 40. Insert an Allen wrench in the firing pin tunnel and unscrew the Allen screw that holds the breechface. Install the other breechface, barrel, extractor, ejector and recoil spring. You might want to put a little blue loctite on the breechface screw to make sure it doesn't loosen. It takes me about 15 minutes to change mine.
  19. Before you cut the comp off you could drill the exit holes slightly larger. Do this in small increments and test it each time until it quits dipping down. This allows more gas to go out the front instead of through the comp ports.
  20. I am by no means experienced at loading for a 308 BUT I did load 200 of the 110 Vmax and shot the He Man Championship match last weekend. I loaded them to 2.750. I was also concerned about the amount of bullet in the case but I had no problems with that load. No crimp. Can I ask where you found the bullets? I cannot find any now.
  21. I have been reloading about 35 years and just in the last 2 years I have found 1 primer with no anvil and 1 with just an empty cup. The brand name starts with W. Now when I load for a match I always put the primers in a primer flipper and inspect them before they go in the Dillon primer filler. You just never know.
