  1. I did my stretches and exercises to recover from shoulder surgery. Maybe I'll be able to shoot a long gun again ?
  2. While I agree about cleaning your press I used some needle files and flared or opened up the opening so the brass can enter the "slide" easier.
  3. I would guess from the bullet profile that you are experiencing nose dives into the feed ramp. I think they will need to be loaded longer to feed correctly.
  4. Winchester small rifle for major loads.
  5. Those roll pins will break fairly often so I used a drill bit the appropriate size then put a drop of red lock tight on each end so it will not drift out.
  6. If your plastic grip has been thinned and stippled it is very easy to over grip it.
  7. With a small modification the STI Frame will accept Infinity mags.
  8. I think the only risk of 9 major is too many people that have never used it talking about how dangerous it is. One of the big downsides of 40 in an open pistol is it has less magazine capacity. That can really make a big difference depending on stage design.
  9. Something I use quite often is a small set of left handed drill bits. They work better than an easy out most of the time.
  10. It was a pleasure to have known Mike and to have been able to shoot with him a lot of times. My condolences to his family.
  11. If it is too loose you may not get the primers seated adequately.
  12. That is good to know. I have a CED that is several years old and it is consistently low. Think I will be calling CED also. Thanks for the info.
  13. One more for Clays. 4.3 with a 185 jacketed is very pleasant to shoot.
  14. Yes the magnet is a really easy way to get your own brass back. Also a standard resizing die will pull them apart.
  15. Perhaps it is your gun lube that does not like the cold temp?
  16. You may not want to fit a new safety before you install new hammer and sear. It may or may not work with the new parts.
  17. I just recently saw 2 new STI open pistols locally the did not have enough extractor tension to even hold a round in it. Both had jams like yours. It is the first thing I would check.
  18. Wish we were going to this match but the new date conflicted with another match that has already been paid for. Hope the new range works out well and everyone has a great time.
  19. Funny thing but I was also shooting my JP 308 a couple days ago and noticed the same mark. I believe the extractor has a slight undercut that should help with extraction by preventing the extractor from slipping off the rim. I do the same thing with my 1911 extractors.
  20. That is the reason I went to Montana Gold 121 gr bullets, no hollow point. I can tell you from experience that you up can try different size media but there will still be some stuck in the hollow point and yes you need to remove it because if you don't it will end up inside the slide and cause malfunctions. Not all the time but more than likely at a big match. Your results may vary..........
  21. Just my humble opinion but if you have an unaltered SV pistol that is having light strikes I would look everywhere else before I changed out parts. Type and brand of primers, seating depth, etc. i have put many hundreds of thousands of rounds through SV pistols and can honestly say the pistol was never responsible for light strikes. Adjustments that moved on my loaders were the biggest issues ( high primers) followed by certain brands of primers. Again, just my opinion. And my experience. ?
