  1. Thanks for the update, please let us know how it does at 25 when you get some better lighting.
  2. Sorry if I seam abrupt I just get tired of the Para bashing Paras are the cheapest way to get a 1911 limited gun that I know of (unless you can find an Armscor which is a copy of a Para). In my area I am surrounded by them and the vast majority of them work great. Most of the Paras that I’ve seen choke are because someone “made it better” and did not fit the parts properly, or the ammo. All 1911 style guns in 40 S&W tend to like there ammo loaded long, just the nature of the beast. I’m not saying that Paras are the greatest gun ever made, but they are not junk either. PS TJ shot a Para before they paid him to shoot there guns.
  3. Someone better tell TJ that his gun is no good. My P16 is so bad I could only get to master in limited (I’m sure it’s all the guns fault). Our local limited GM wishes he still shot a Para but he now shoots a --- for the contingency money. Quit bashing Paras. Pick what YOU like and practice, you can not buy you’re way to the top. I’ve watched all of the above guns puke, they are machines and all machines break from time to time.
  4. Please let us know how the 147s work for you. Right now I'm thinking a 160 front sight is what I should get if I run 125s.
  5. G-Manbart what height front sight did you use? I’m finishing up an M&P 9L for production. I’m using the rear sight from an M&P pro but I’m not sure about the front sight height, but it will be a Dawson front sight. Heck I still have to decide on 125s or 147s.
  6. Does Wilson really make there frames out of bar stock? That means they take a solid block of steel and mill it into a frame? I’m pretty sure they use a forged frame not bar stock but I could be wrong.
  7. That’s not right Flex you stole my drill lathe method, works pretty good if you take you’re time. If you are having that much trouble with the front sight just cut it out. Take you’re dremel and a cut off wheel and cut right through the middle of the sight just like you are trying to make a line through the center of the dovetail. Take you’re time and don’t cut all the way through the sight (go as close as you’re nerves allow) then hit it with you’re punch. That is how I got the rear sight out of my Kimber, nothing would move it. Cutting the slot will remove the pressure and allow the sight to come out.
  8. Para P-16s make a good limited or limited 10 gun, all you need now is practice the rest can wait. That is a standard (80 series for paras) extractor in you’re gun, power extractor guns have different cocking groves. PS you’re front sight is on backwards, the serrations should face you.
  9. Hey Julie any word on when the 9L becomes production legal? Also any news about a 40L yet? Thanks, Ryan
  10. I’ve run Wilson buffs for years with no problems. I run a Cominolli guide rod with Wilson buffs both front and back. Every gun I’ve looked at that had problems running buffs could be traced to the spring tunnel on the slide. The buff gets pinched between the head of the guide rod and the spring tunnel; the spring tunnel can act like a cookie cutter on any buff. If you are having trouble with buffs look at this area. Guns run without buffs allow the spring tunnel to impact the head of the guide rod and can turn the tunnel into a cookie cutter. PS I’m not a gunsmith and YMMV.
  11. I just want Glock to add a beavertail of some type. I’d like to shoot one without bleeding.
  12. You have to trim the S&A in width to fit in the IDPA box. It’s not hard; I’ve done a couple with my belt sander. With my P16 limited with the cut S&A and a GI guide rod I just made the 43 oz weight, but it was real close.
  13. So the consensus is that the DPMS magazines are better? I have heard that the issues with the C products magazines are the spring is to long (only 18 or 19 rounds per magazine) and the magazine catch is too high. Is there anything I’m missing? I’ve been reading about them at AR-15.com where the owner of C products seams to post a lot and they seam to be refining these magazines so does anyone have recently manufactured ones they could compare to the older ones? I don’t have an AR in 308 yet but it is on my short list and I’d like to get some magazines. Stainless steel and half the price of DPMS make these very tempting but I don’t want to buy them if they don’t work.
  14. Has anyone here tried the C Products DPMS 20rd stainless steel magazines? Do they drop free in you're DPMS 308 rifle? Do they hold 20rds or only 19rds like the DPMS factory mags? Are there any OAL issues with these magazines? Are they reliable magazines? How well have they held up to real use? Anything else about the magazines or the company would be appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
  15. I thought I was the only one using JB weld in my gun. Mine has held for 5years with no problems.
  16. XRe seams to know more about this then I do (that was a complement I’m not being smart) all I’m saying is that primers are not a true sign of pressure. They are one thing to look at just don’t say my primers look good so this is a safe load.
  17. Has anyone ever used fiberglass or an epoxy to build up the grips on there 22/45. My gun is great, it shoots good groups the trigger is great (after I worked on it) and it runs all the time but it feels like I’m holding a 1x3 when I shoot it. I’ve seen guys put 1911 grips on there guns but I’m not really wanting to go that way (just don’t trust that the bushings will hold).
  18. New brass is not more expensive its all about the same price but once fired brass is because not many people shoot 38 super.
  19. Primers are not a reliable sign of pressure. I have friends in the industry that have pressure guns. They tested the primmer theory and found it unreliable. They had loads that were very over pressure where the primers looked fine (45000+ 40s) and safe loads where the primers flowed big time. Primers are one thing to look at but do not think they are a reliable indication of pressure.
  20. I was just wondering when was the last time a S_I won the limited nationals? It’s the Indian not the Arrow get what you like and practice, the limited nationals have been won with a Glock 35.
  21. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the pro and Ls barrels? Are they the same barrels, is the pro a better/tighter fit, does one have a tighter chamber ect?
  22. Does anybody know if Smith & Wesson plans on bringing out an M&P 40 long/pro. in the future. I figured someone here might have heard from S&W if it is realy coming or just a rumor.
  23. Please tell me where you found 180gr berrys for under $100 per 1k
  24. Alan thanks again for the ride, and yes a slide is cheaper!
