  1. please please please tell me where I can get loaded 180gr 40 S&W for $54 a thousand delivered.
  2. Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I have another book to buy.
  3. I had the same problem when I switched over to frontier plated bullets, I got the same holes on my targets as you show in you’re post. I agree that it is the plating pealing off. I got my Para to shoot these bullets by fire lapping the barrel, once I smoothed out the inside of the barrel I stopped pealing the plating off (I never had a problem with my Bar-Sto, Glock, Kimber, or Wilson barrels). I think the problem was a rough barrel not the frontier bullets.
  4. Rainier, Black Hills Shooters Supply, or T&T. These prices are not for little orders (I think the price cut is around 35,000 bullets). The guys I shoot with all get together and place one order so it’s not hard to hit 35,000. PS I got my Para to shoot these bullets by fire lapping the barrel, once I smoothed out the inside of the barrel I stopped pealing the plating off (I never had a problem with my Bar-Sto, Glock, Kimber, or Wilson barrels). I think the problem was a rough barrel not the frontier bullets. These bullets shoot as good as anything else I’ve tried.
  5. Question What is the name of Sweeney's book on 1100s and where can you order it. Ok that was two questions.
  6. I'm paying $53 for 230gr RN 45acp $46 for 180gr RNFP 40S&W $36 for 125gr RN 9mm for frontier bullets. That includes shipping. Almost double the bullets sounds like a good reason to switch to me. I shot my first 16,000 and just got 15,000 more (now I just have to load them).
  7. Hi Doug I looked on the Picarin-Monroeville web site and could not find the apps. I'm glad to hear the match is still on. Please let me know where to find the apps all us guys in Indiana are planning on going we just need the apps to send in. Ryan
  8. I was wondering if there is going to be a Western Pennsylvania Section Championship match. It is listed for Sept. but I can not find apps anywhere. Anyone know what is happening.
  9. It sounds like you may have some frangible bullets in those cases. The only bullets I have ever seen that have a W on the bullet are Sinterfire frangible bullets. They are made of powdered copper and tin that is compressed in a mold and then sintered (baked) to harden the bullet. Because they are made in a “mold” it is easy to put the buyers “mark” on the end of the bullet. If you want to know if they are frangible just pull a bullet out of its case and hit it with a hammer, if it brakes up into powder it is a Sinterfire frangible bullet.
  10. The power extractor looks the same as a normal one from the back of the slide, but the claw is much larger then a standard extractor. To get you’re extractor out remove the firing pin stop and firing pin. Remove the 80 series plunger from the slide; I don’t remember how to get it out because mine never go back in. Push the claw of you’re extractor into the tunnel it rides in you should then be able to remove the extractor from the back of the slide. A normal extractor will be one piece; the power extractor is a 4 piece unit (if you include the spring. The extractor tunnel for a power extractor is much too large to run a normal extractor.
  11. All Paras now come with the power extractor. I still have not made up my mind if I like them or not (I have both the old and new P16s) but the machining is much better on my new Para then on the original one.
  12. Opps, I meant to say the WST works great in 45ACP
  13. Kevin, I didn’t have problems with the cases going into the shell plate, the problem was that the cases were so wide that they don’t go into the die. I had to wiggle them to get them started into the die. Flex, that setup sounds like it would work but then I could not use my powder check station, if only my 650 had 6 stations (I guess I always want a little more). Ps Flex you guys put on a great match in Ohio thanks.
  14. I’m sold on the EGW sizing die. I use all the 40 brass I find so that means range brass and a lot of it was fired through Glocks. I tried the lee FCD but it did not size the case down far enough to get rid of the “Glock Bulge”. I also had some cases roll sized and still did not get the entire bulge out. I tried punch sizing and destroyed that brass (it rolled the rims and closed the extractor grove, not a good thing). I now have a system that works great (but it is time consuming). I load on a 650, I have the standard Dillon die in stage 1 it deprimes the case and starts the sizing (I found if I try to just run the EGW die in stage 1 and load I have to wiggle every other case into the die, crush a lot of cases, or they just will not go in). Stage 2 is empty. In stage 3 I have my Lee FCD not because it is needed, but I paid money for it so I might as well use it. In stage 4 I have my EGW die. I set up the press so I can run the die as low as possible, if I put a half turn on the die the press would bottom out on the die, (yes it hits the shell plate but make sure the press is still making a full stroke). I watch this stage the entire time I’m processing the brass and I can catch any cases that look bad are split ECT. After I process the brass I pull the EGW die out of that tool head and put it into the one set up for loading (I just haven’t gotten around to buying a second EGW die) so I actually run all my brass through the EGW die twice. Processing my brass this way it mikes out between .418-.422 right above the extractor grove, rounds not chambering are a thing of the past. Also doing the sizing in steps saves a lot of brass that would get crushed if I just try to shove them strait into the EGW die. I just process 2 five gallon buckets of brass and crushed 4 or 5 pieces.
  15. I seam to be the king of case head separations in the group that I shoot with. I only have one kind of 40 brass, that is the brass that has not split yet (yes I shoot them till they split). I also do not play around with power factors (I’ve had the same ammo crono 180pf at one match and do 165pf a month later, granted it was Chinese powder) so I load to a 175-180pf. I first started separating cases loading a surplus Chinese powder, it worked fine for 155gr LRN but when I switched over to a 150gr frangible (they are made of powdered copper and tin, because there is no lead in them they are very long for there weight) it cut my case capacity and spiked my pressure. I switched to WSF and fixed that problem. When I lost my source for the frangible heads I started using a plated 180gr frontier head. I read the forum and decided to try WST as everyone seams to push fast powders and heavy bullets in limited. When I just started to make power factor I got my first case separation. At 5.4gr of WST I separated both Win and PMC cases. I was still only getting around 970fps. I fixed the problem the same way I did before by switching to a slower powder (again WSF). I can run a 180pf with WSF (1000fps with a plated 180gr frontier head) and stay within Win reloading data (I’m loading 6.2gr of WSF at 1.185 OAL). I have not had any problems with my brass since I stopped running the fast powders. Ps the WSF works great with 45ACP.
  16. I already have an ar-15 setup for three gun, so this is not a start up project. I’m running an 18’’ free floated barrel, Simmons 1.5-5x20 pro diamond scope, JP trigger ect. I do not shoot nose to charging handle so I do not have to stick my scope out past the receiver, that being said the DPMS upper should be perfect for me except for the fact that there is no brass deflector. I shoot some matches that require shooting strong side / weak side (you must use both shoulders), and I’m afraid that the brass will shoot right into my face when shooting left shoulder. So where does the DPMS receiver eject the brass to. Ps I shoot tactical and limited, sorry no open.
  17. I have a question about DPMS high rider uppers, they look like the ticket for three gun (no risers plus rings or using the mounts like b-square sells) but there is no bump (the protrusion that kicks the brass forward). Is there a problem with shooting it from the left shoulder (I shoot some matches that require weak shoulder shooting)? I know that Benny uses them so can they be shot from the left shoulder?
  18. If I find them before they get a primer I toss them, if they take a primer I finish loading them and then toss them (there not worth the trouble especially in 40 S&W). Still better then small primer 45ACPs though!!!!!!
  19. .40AET thanks for the reply, I think I’m about to build a box (as soon as I get some free time). And please send my thanks to GREG LENT for his development of the coffin and being nice enough to share his experience. Again thanks for the help guys.
  20. Flyin40, you need to get some guys together and make larger orders, the group of guys I shoot with order our bullets together and get some great savings. This year we went with plated frontier bullets, we paid $38 for 124gr 9mm $46 for 180 40S&W and $51 for 230gr 45ACP those prices are per thousand including shipping. You need to call around and see who will “deal” with you but if you place a big enough order you can get some great deals.
  21. Well I had yesterday off and decided to do some chrono work I’ve been putting off, the results were the same as always it worked about 1/3 of the time. The only time I could get it to work consistently was when the sun was behind the clouds. Unfortunately turning the sensors on there side did not work for me; neither did turning the whole unit upside down (sensors facing down instead of up). I guess I’m going to start drawing up a design for an enclosed box with its own lighting system, any ideas guys?
  22. Nobody has tried these? If that 62 grain bullet will hold MOA, I think it would be the hot ticket for three gun, 62 grain no tungsten core and $40 a thousand. Horaday’s 55 grain FMJ is more than that, roughly $50 a thousand before shipping. I have never heard of a three gun match that needs more accuracy than that, (if you miss with a rifle that shoots MOA its you not the gun) that’s 4 inch groups at 400 yards. I have ordered some (have not arrived yet) but I’m surprised nobody else has tried them.
  23. I was just wondering if the para power extractor is caliber specific, (do they make a 9mm, 38super, 40s&w, and 45acp) or are they all the same. I have no idea so I was wondering if any one has looked at them. If anything the spring, plunger, and rear piece should be the same with just a different front claw or whatever they are calling that part. Ps my power extractor is still running great.
  24. From what I’ve seen (I’ve played with the older 45acp high-cap Springfield not the new 40) the para and Springfield are almost the same gun. 1) The Springfield has a forged frame instead of paras cast frame. 2) Springfield has a 70 series trigger group, instead of paras 80 series (whoever invented the 80 series trigger group should be hurt very badly!!!!!) Besides that the differences are minor, Paras can run para, STI, or SV mags, all you have to do is play with the mag catch (been there done that). If the slide locks back you can over insert the STI/SV mags, but if you deactivate the slide stop (does not lock open on an empty mag) then that is not a problem. I read somewhere that TGO has always run STI/SV mags in his Springfield, and that Springfield is recommending STI/SV mags anyway (they must be setting up there mag catch for them). I have ran paras for the last 5 years, while I’m not going to run out and sell them to buy the new Springfield, if I was just starting I’d buy them instead of my paras (for the reasons above + quality control) depending on the price. And I’m sure if you do not like there standard model the custom shop will do anything you want to it.
  25. please please anyone have a picture
