  1. A paper only match can still be challenging but I think any major match should include at least some poppers for activation unless they have reliable props set up to handle that task. In many respects I think paper only can be more challenging. You can see and hear steel,so you know you hit it. Paper does not give you that feedback, so you do not know you have a miss until it is scored.
  2. Did you notice that most of the rounds that failed to fit, failed just above the extractor groove? It is easy to size the upper body of a case but it is much harder to size the base of the case. That is why I use a push through die as the last step in my loading process. Cases that came from my gun tend to slide through the die with little effort. Cases that came from other guns will start easy but take a little effort to push through once I hit the base.
  3. You can hit him for extra shots fired, but you cannot hit him for to few shots because the to few shots has its own penalties being assessed. As Jay pointed out he gets penalized for the extra shots prior to the reload. No penalty for stacking because it is one string. No penalty for extra hits because it has the required number per target. -20 on a 50 point stage will not count for anyone above a D classification.
  4. I do not how many other sections do it this way, but the Minnesota section has a calendar that lists area matches. We publish our matches on our Web page.
  5. U means Unclassified. X means more than 60 days since the membership has expired. Until they shoot classifiers, or until they shoot a match that meets the GM requirements for classification they will be listed as U.
  6. We just simplified and standardized on one command......But then we apparently believe that USPSA competitors will remember to stuff bullets in the gun, when needed.... Mags were loaded, but you need the gun to stuff them in to.
  7. All of mine "crimp" to .421" does not matter if it is coated, jacketed, or whatever. The chamber diameter will not make have an impact on the diameter of the case mouth as long as it is below the bullet diameter (.400") + 2 wall thicknesses (.011 x 2= .022) .422". Above that number you will likely not be removing the bell which could lead to a sharp edge grabbing the edge of the chamber. The two major areas that cause chambering problems are the over all length being to long and the bullet hitting the rifling, and the case not being sized properly and the base of the case being larger than the chamber diameter. I have had cases that measure as much as .432". You can size the top of the case but if you do not take the base down to less than the chamber diameter you will have feeding issues. My chamber measures out to .426" which is very close to the SAAMI minimum for a chamber diameter, and ALL of my finished .40 rounds have a max diameter of .423".
  8. To determine if it is Glock brass look at the primer. A rectangular indent is Glock. Round is another manufacturer. Most Glock, XD, or other mass produced CCW/ duty guns will have a larger chamber that creates some level of a Smile.
  9. Perhaps I am misreading this. Edge to edge no-shoots with a bullet striking right in the middle would score whatever is under the no-shoot non-scoring border (and probably both no-shoots). That type of no-shoot array is not a good idea.. You are of course correct George. My brain did not fully engage when I wrote that. It is bad design because any area within a full diameter of the outer edge of the perf would be considered a scoring area no matter what the designer intended.
  10. The only time the hit would not count would be if the no shoots were edge to edge. Then it is possible for the perfect shot to hit outside of each perf so that the shooter does not get a penalty but because the area under the no shoots would be considered unavailable they would not get a scoring hit out of it either. It would be considered a full diameter hard cover hit.
  11. The overlay needs to touch. Many times the grease ring is smaller than the actual bullet diameter. The target underneath is scored for score or penalty as long as the face target does NOT have a full diameter hit INSIDE the perf.
  12. Awesome for you. My hands are extra sweaty I guess then. I cannot tell you what I do different because I can lube my guns up prepping for a match and have a film of oil on my hands and I still have no problems with either my strong hand or weak hand slipping as I shoot. Do you lock your elbows? Or, do you allow them to flex?
  13. And that one hit was a dual score because you nicked the No Shoot.
  14. A Guage built for max cartridge is tighter than any chamber Guage. I do not know of any .40 S&W barrel who's chamber is cut to less than .426.
  15. I use a L.E. Wilson. It is cut to SAMMI max cartridge of .424"
  16. I do not have that problem. With a proper grip your weak hand and strong hand should be solid. Strong hand grips the gun and weak hand grips the strong hand.
  17. Hit. No way to tell where the bullet impacted the barrel so the call goes to the shooter due to the "grease mark"
  18. Agreed. When you have fully down, fully cocked, half cocked, and where the decocker leaves the hammer which might be the same notch as a non-decocker pistol does, we need a definition or possibly an expanded explanation in the rule book. Possible along the lines of "If a non decocker equipped pistol is holstered at anything other than hammer fully down the safety must be applied. (10.5.11.2)"
  19. If the target had been a piece of steel it would be REF so paper is no different
  20. If the target was in line with the barrel, target is scored. Op said about 20 degrees off so hole is a ricochet and not scored.
  21. Some kind of strange code in the router. Reset the router and reloaded the settings and everything works now. Why I got an error saying that Cloudflare could not reach USPSA I do not know.
  22. I have two rugs built into my bag that are nothing more than open pouches with a velcro strap to keep them closed. I do not use them to hold guns but if my bag is knocked off the table it is possible for their contents to spill out.
  23. I do not have any of my old paperwork in front of me but the general process is as follows: At the national level they decide the total number of slots to be issued for say Production Nationals. These slots are evenly distributed members wise to each of the Areas. At the area level they distribute them to the sections. The sections distribute them to the individual clubs. The math for distribution would be decided based on total number of shooters. So we will say that a Section has 10 clubs in it. The 10 clubs have 200 Production shooters cross the 10 matches for the month. One club has 40 production shooters out of 100 total for the match. Another has 30 Production shooters out of 100 total at the match. The remaining 8 range from 5 to 20 Production shooters per 100 at the match because Limited or Open are much bigger divisions. Based on the number of shooters in each division the activity points are assigned. As I recall it is a combination of something like 1 point per shooter and a percentage average on top of that based on the total number of shooters in each division at the match. Based on the total points acquired for the year in that division the slots are distributed. A club that has a lot of Production shooters will get more slots for Production Nationals, and a club with a lot of Open shooters will earn more Open slots.
  24. Stranger yet. I will check on a different network, but I only have this problem while connected to my home wireless. I was waiting to pick up my daughter and my phone went straight to uspsa on 4G. Got home so that my phone connected through my home network and the error pages started up again. I then discovered that removing the www from the address took me to the correct page. I tried several different pages and I got the error page when I clicked on the link but when I removed www from the address bar it gave me the live page.
  25. Under club support look for the classifier diagrams and the entire book is downloadable
