  1. Check your rulebook again for the definition of facing up/down range. There is no requirement to stand erect or straight. 8.2.2 The competitor assumes the start position as specified in the written stage briefing. Unless otherwise specified, the competitor must stand erect, facing downrange, with arms and hands hanging naturally by the sides (see appendix E3 for an example of this). A competitor who attempts or completes a course of fire where an incorrect start position was used must be required by a Range Official to reshoot the course of fire. “Arms hanging naturally by sides” is illustrated in Appendix E3.So there is if the WSB does not call out a specific start position. Facing Uprange ................ Face and feet pointing directly (90°) away from the backstop with shoulders parallel to the backstop. Facing Down Range ........ The exact opposite of facing uprange Do you consider a slight upper body tilt as not being erect? Yes. Facing uprange or down range are not specific hand or foot positions that invalidate 8.2.2.
  2. Standing outside no. Leaning to lock your eyes on the first target you plan to engage, yes.
  3. As long as it does not use the words "facing down range" or "facing up range" you can usually lean to the side. Facing xxxx requires feet and shoulders square to the backstop and standing straight.
  4. You cannot force them but having the targets spaced properly would encourage shooting on the move rather than take 2 steps, stop, shoot a target, take 2 steps, repeat....
  5. Either find someone to train you on how the different dies function in the reloading process, or buy a simple single stage press and teach yourself. A single stage will always be a great choice for developing a load or making small batches of custom loads. I use mine for my rifle loads. (7MM, 30-30, .243)
  6. Get a "Blue" gun. I found mine on Ebay and I use it when instructing in areas that an unloaded gun would be uncomfortable to use. Even knowing it is empty, I still cannot point one at another person or handle it being pointed at me so I use the "blue" gun.
  7. While working my phone using 4G. The rest of the time my laptop logged into the hotel wireless. I have no issues with gun stuff during my down time.
  8. It is strange because it is the only one I am having problems reaching. I can get the cached save pages but when I click on a link to member support or club support it gives me an error page because a copy has not been cached and it cannot reach the USPSA servers.
  9. When I go to USPSA I get a cached page through CloudFlare. Is anyone else having this problem? Or, might it be because I am running Windows 10 now. I Get the same page on my phone.
  10. Use the LBB all the time. I reuse my brass and after a match you will get other people's brass mixed in. My gun has a tight chamber so even with sizing I will get rounds that will not chamber or extract properly. I run all finished rounds through the LBB and I have not had a problem since.
  11. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=219531&hl= Keep an eye on this thread. We are waiting on an official ruling from Troy as to the legality of placing a non-decocker gun on the half cock notch when holstering. The question is whether it is a DQ or not. Either way on a non decocker you need to lower the hammer all the way down. You cannot start a COF with the hammer at half cock without a decocker. 8.1.2.2 and 8.1.2.3
  12. I tend to agree with Moto. John's Front Site statements say that half cocked and fully cocked are not the same thing, and we have already established that you are allowed to use the trigger to lower the hammer without being DQ'ed. The area I have a problem with as does Moto is that a CZ or other varients like it ie "Selective Action" can be fired either DA or SA so having the hammer fully down or at the half cock notch will still allow the gun to be fired by simply squeezing the trigger. Holstering a loaded SA gun with the hammer at half cock is stupid and a DQ because the rule does not allow for lowering the hammer on a loaded SA pistol. It does allow for lowering the hammer on a SA/DA Selective Action pistol. So the question really is: Is holstering a non-decocker equipped Selective Action pistol with the hammer at the half cock position a DQ or something that needs to be corrected at the line with the shooter lowering the hammer to the fully down position. Whether the hammer falls and the gun discharges while lowering it from fully cocked or half cocked the ruling is the same, it is a DQ.
  13. I went to my local store and picked a used project gun. The salesman's brother is a gunsmith so I told him I needed one for Rob to work over. $500 for the gun and $250 for the mods and I now have a nice SS gun. Part of it was just timing. The gun was brought in as a trade and had not been prepped to go out on the shelves yet so I saved some money.
  14. Going from a Glock to a 1911/2011 platform requires getting used to putting on and removing the thumb safety as part of your handling routine, and getting used to the MUCH shorter and lighter trigger pull. When you go the other way you do not need to stress about the thumb safety. If your thumb tries to swipe it off due to muscle memory it will not effect the guns ability to fire. You will need to retrain yourself to adjust to a much longer trigger pull. A heavier trigger pull. And, a bit less weight to handle the recoil. Transitioning between either platform just requires the repetition needed to make it feel natural.
  15. Right now I have 6 mags...but only four carriers. Is that enough? Most production shooters are going to the line with 6 to 8 magazines on their belt.
  16. Beretta makes an oversized mag release. The question would be if the Wilson he has is similar to the factory offering or if he has the combat version which is not offered by Beretta. My suggestion for the first several matches would be to shoot Limited Minor. Then you get a handle on how the rules work from within the game without stressing about reloading every array and without having to plan your stages based on 10 round mags. Once you are comfortable enough with the game to no longer stress about getting it right you can verify if the mag release is allowable and start worrying about planning your stages based on 10 round magazines
  17. What does the mag release look like. If it is a direct copy of a 92x factory original you can still play in Production. If it is oversized or different enough to be readily distinguishable as NOT original equipment you will be best off competing in Lim-10 Minor or Lim Minor. Your springs are OK for any division.
  18. If you want vibration get purple which is available in auto parts stores. It does not require heat. If you want to set and forget with only a slight chance of removal get blue which is the next step up. Red is a step above blue and usually requires a bit of heat to break free enough to not destroy the screw/ screwhead.
  19. Two hints, one give an experimental tug after you have "locked" it in. Two do not move until the RO calls "Range is clear" I would much rather deal with a dropped gun outside of the COF than during it.
  20. Actually Nik covered it well in another SA/DA thread. Manually going to half cock with a decocker equipped gun is a DQ because of having your finger in the trigger guard while making ready.
  21. I shoot a 2011 so I follow SA rules, but as an RO it can get confusing with all of the CZ varieties out there.
  22. That only applies to de-cocking levers.8.1.2.2 “Double action” – chamber loaded, hammer fully down or de- cocked. If the competitor does not use a de-cocking lever, the hammer must be fully down. 8.5.2 does appear to support a DQ. So if I manually go to half cock on a 75D I am DQ'ed, but if I use the decocking lever to go to half cock I am OK? This does not make sense.
  23. Nah. It's a rule. It's not practical to have ROs know how every little sub-model of blaster on the planet works, just in case they see it at a match sometime..... Shooters have option based on the rules. Want to play the came with a 75b? Read the rules and figure out how to safely comply them..... Don't like lowering the hammer all the way on a 75b? You have choices for other divisions or other guns.... Nik what happens if two different shooters come to the line, one with a 75B and the other a 75D. How is the RO to know which is which and how this rule is applied differently just because the one has a decocker and the other doesn't. Like you said how are we expected to know every sub model?
  24. http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-NROI-ruling-details.php?indx=30 Ruling on that was asked 3/6/08 and updated 6/2/14
  25. Yes because it is one more part capable of snagging on something.
