Heard too many stories of cracked slides and frames from Armscor stuff. You can put a grand in top of the line custom parts into an RIA and I still won't trust it. For the same money you could buy a top of the line Sig 1911, or a Kimber or a decent Dan Wesson and have something WORTH building on.

Of all the 1911s I've owned, single and double stack, 9mm, 10mm, .40, .38s and .45, comped and not, and all the other variations, my .45s are still king of the hill. They are the most comfortable to shoot. They just feel right when I squeeze the trigger. And comfortable means consistent, which translates to speed and accuracy. Love my full race .38s, but if I had to choose I'd take the .45 any day.

Don't know about STI frames but with my Caspian frames, Dawson's Extreme Engineering sets dropped in and were perfect without touching a thing. If STI is consistent and to spec, you should get the same results.

Dawson's Extreme Engineering Lite Speed hammer, sear and disconnect set for starters. Clark 4 finger sear spring, 22#mainspring, extra power FP spring and Titanium standard length firing pin. Running that setup in 3 different pistols now. All at 22oz trigger and I don't get light strikes or primer smears.
