  1. Many years ago a pair of C130s flew over my barn as I was mucking out horse stalls. Scared me INTO the crap.
  2. I prefer NOT pinned. Learn a consistent proper grip and you'll never have a problem. If you do, you know you don't have a proper grip and you can work on it.
  3. I think I had their first two albums. Vinyl, of course.
  4. You didn't specify a caliber, but whichever you choose you can't go wrong with a Caspian slide and frame. They can fit it for you as well as any type of checkering and slide serrations you want. As for barrels, if you were looking to go .45 You can get a Clark drop in and be 2MoA accurate with it and little to no fitting. (They'll also fit it for you for free) They also make ramped 9/.38 barrels and again will fit them for you. I have also had Briley and Nowlin barrels and both are outstanding.
  5. What I really find a little amazing here is that after his slight adjustment he hit 4 A's without being able to see the target. This kinda goes back to what I have said in past about my sights being only a .001 sec confirmation as the shot goes off. Get your stance, grip and index tuned and the sights are irrelevant.
  6. Todd Jarrett index drill... Getting your NPA where you want the gun to be when you fire.
  7. Do you have an aversion to dryfire? Not that dryfire will help you much with trigger freeze, but I find it is almost as valuable a tool as live fire.
  8. Hey.... Didn't I see these over on the CZ forums in the other hobbies thread? They still look good enough to be in travel brochures.
  9. Don't know about STI but I wanted one for my Caspian double stack. Ended up get a John Masen as the thumb pad was wider and longer than anyone else's. This allowed me to cut the inside of the thumb pad to clear the frame and still have plenty for my thumb to hit. John Masen Extended Slide Stop
  10. All but one of my 1911s has been tuned to 22 oz (+/- .5). The one that is not is my carry gun, it's at 3lb. My CZ is 18oz but has a longer pull than my 1911s.
  11. Yeah, Everclear packs a good whollop, but I'm not looking for the whollop. I'm looking for the taste and rum give it just the perfect balance. You could go with 151 and get close to everclear and still have the better taste.
  12. Recipe is easy: 1 gal apple cider 2 cups of sugar 1 tbsp cinnamon 1 bottle Cruzan Single Barrel Bring cider, sugar and cinnamon to a slow simmer and stir frequently until you boil off about a pint of liquid. Let it cool to room temp and add Cruzan. Serve Iced or warm.
  13. Scotch; Glenlivet is my fave but any of the Glens will make me happy. Rum; Cruzan Single Barrel. (Also make the best Apple Pie in the world.
  14. Fortunately that wasn't MY finger. But a good illustration of the dangers of wearing jewelry (and loose clothing) in my line of work. Also had to rescue a co-worker when his watch caught on a bug nut on a cable strand 18 feet in the air. Pulled him off balance and hung him by his wrist til I could get his ladder back under him.
  15. More of a scotch guy with a healthy dose of rum from time to time. But occasionally I dip into the Maker's Mark. My Grandpappy always said, "Whiskey is drinkin'. Rum is survivin'.
  16. Clint Eastwood- Pretty much anything he's been involved in.
  17. 21 Maxims of a Wandering Samurai In fifteen-hundred eighty-four a Samurai was born Who would become a Ronin and thereby received much scorn A Ronin is a Samurai who’s masterless, you see It was quite frowned upon for these Warriors to be free But Miyamoto knew these twenty-one things to be true And didn’t need a master to adhere, follow, pursue He followed his own inner truth and went where the wind blew And now his maxims have blown your way to inspire you You do not need to follow them because I told you so You’ll follow ‘cause they are all truths that you already know Twenty-one maxims which plainly state truths we may not Want to follow, some might be resisted, even fought Because they fly in the face of comfort and luxury But these are truths that no one can dispute or disagree Twenty-one steps to let go, to accept and have peace To understand, to be selfless and make your anguish cease Twenty-one steps followed by a Ronin Samurai Who knew the truth was within him and declared, “I won’t die As many of my brothers did when they had lost their master” Musashi would not accept anything as a disaster In and out all things did flow and just one thing was held And that was twenty-one maxims that Musashi compelled Himself to follow and now you can follow them as well It’s not on problems but on truths that all of us should dwell ~Miro The Way of Walking Alone 1. Accept everything just the way it is. 2. Do not seek pleasure for its own sake. 3. Do not, under any circumstances, depend on a partial feeling. 4. Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world. 5. Be detached from desire your whole life long. 6. Do not regret what you have done. 7. Never be jealous. 8. Never let yourself be saddened by a separation. 9. Resentment and complaint are appropriate neither for oneself nor others. 10. Do not let yourself be guided by the feeling of lust or love. 11. In all things have no preferences. 12. Be indifferent to where you live. 13. Do not pursue the taste of good food. 14. Do not hold on to possessions you no longer need. 15. Do not act following customary beliefs. 16. Do not collect weapons or practice with weapons beyond what is useful. 17. Do not fear death. 18. Do not seek to possess either goods or fiefs for your old age. 19. Respect Buddha and the gods without counting on their help. 20. You may abandon your own body but you must preserve your honour. 21. Never stray from the Way. ~Miyamoto Musashi, Samurai
  18. Is STI on the stock exchange? This all sounds to me like the typical "shareholders want to increase dividends by cutting corners".
  19. This. And lots of it. Dry fire practice any and every time you get. Drill it til you can't stand doing anymore and then keep doing it. Eventually the pistol will come out of the holster with a perfect and consistent grip and will rise up as your left hand comes into contact and stop with the sights aligned the exact point your eyes are focused on. But understand it takes a LOT of practice to get there and good enough ain't good enough. Everything should be as automatic as walking.
  20. I have one on my .38Super and it's been just fine. Just remember to clean all threads thoroughly and use Loctite red. Also check it from time to time to make sure it's not loosening up. But that goes for ANY threaded comp.
  21. I gotta say, I'm pretty damn happy with my J-Point. Got somewhere around 3500 rnds with it and so far, not a hitch. I also like its simplicity.
