  1. I lost the link, but there was a study online for pressure vs oal for .40. Safe pressure at saami length went to 100,000 psi when oal dropped to 1.000". It was an interesting read.
  2. How many cartridges do you make in an average loading session? 3-500. How many cartridges do you make in an average week? Winter - none . Summer 500-1000. Probably going 2x up as my son is getting into center fire. Which press do you use? Cough cough (lee load master) cough cough. It works, but does need love at times. How many cartridges can you load in an hour? ( not loading 100 and using math to get your answer but how many in a real hour if you were going to load for 2 or more hours straight? Burst rates are fine but the are a lot higher than you would get if it was your 8 hour a day job. I do about 300 in an hour at a relaxed steady beat. If "humping it" I've done close to 500, but the stars have to align and it's really too fast. How long is your average loading session? Usually 1-2 hours, with the norm being closer to an hour and a half with clean up. Knowing what you know now if your reloading equipment was lost or stolen what would you buy today? If I had the $, dillon 650. The lee load master works well making relatively few rounds a week and is good value for the $, but loves attention.
  3. I don't thnk anyone here wants an all expense trip to "club fed" for exporting gun parts wo license!
  4. Good looking gun, but if it don't shoot... Well, I hope they get their teething pains sorted out before they get flushed.
  5. My opinion, people like what is popular. That is more of a factor than anything else for the bulk of folks.
  6. Hnmmmmmm, A zone seeking projectiles, eh? Do they work with the recoil rod mounted camera for the auto-targeting computer fired trigger?
  7. Try different rounds. They could be over crimped and not engaging the rifling.
  8. Read the thread, ordered up a bunch of d-lead products.
  9. There were a few reports of 40sw out of 10mm barrels. From memory, it's doable... but the case is just being held by the extractor and issues can result. Probably best to use the right equipment!
  10. http://www.generalcoin.com/product.tanfoglio-witness-stock-i-by-eaa-9mm-17-round-45-barrel-chrome-600620 There is only one in stock. Somebody needs to buy it before I do (and mama won't like that!). No, I don't have any relationship to them other than as a customer. Oh, they have 2 stock 1s in .40sw also. And a stock 3 in 38 super. And me on "monetary restriction!" ... ie broke.
  11. Local pawn shop had some "Eee-tallion" guns from a pissed off lady that sold them all for $20 to piss off her cheating husband. Picked up those "crappy Eee-talion junk" guns all for $200. Sequential matching pairs of stock 1, stock 2 (small and large frame in 9, 38 super and 40) plus a steamer box full of extreme parts, a dillion 1050 with 50 pounds of some foreign powder with a V name. Did I do good?
  12. I had issues getting the fp in with the exact alignment. But once lined up, it goes in good. Have you verified the fp without the block fits? And the gap in the blick is big enough?
  13. That is impressive, thanks idhawk. (Even though I didn't jump on the deal)
  14. Smooth the seer / striker interface with a buffing wheel. I had to smooth out the striker channel on mine as it was full of tooling marks and stuff. Polished the striker at that time too. Made it feel a lot nicer, smoother and lighter. Then you can swap in a ligher trigger spring from PRP or Springer. Very cheap and the trigger will be lots nicer. Still just as long, but will feel much improved.
  15. Yeah, right ... never heard of it. Well, it is fairly uncommon. Hope they get it turned around quick.
  16. I have a match in 40 and the barrel has no wiggle. More accurate than me (but that's not saying much ).
  17. 2 1/2 - 3# sa trigger w just diy polish and springs that you will never get in an xdm.
  18. I have an xdm and a tanfo match ... both in .40. The Match gets shot A LOT more than the xdm. Trigger is better, recoil is lighter and it is more easily accurate (in my hands).
  19. False bottomed luggage? Hollow wooden leg? Using this guy as a mule?http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/gun-hidden-in-butt-765912 (^jk)
  20. Your prerogative, but with tight supply and high demand, they go at a premium. If EAA would get a lot imported, prices would be reasonable and maybe even aftermarket parts supply would perk up.
  21. You won't be wrong going Dillon, but I've had decent performance from lee progressive loadmaster. But... it's a bit fiddlie at times. Not a big deal, it just takes more love. But the press with one set of die was under $250 from eBay. Then 3 more die sets, primers, powder, tumbler, media, brass, projectiles, scale (etc etc) was around $500. Obviously, just starter quantities of expendables! I've only loaded about 5-6000 rounds over the past 6 -8 months and it matches my use pretty well.
  22. None of my guns self drop the slide foreward on mag insertion. Maybe I'm too gentle?
  23. They want MORE for a conversion on a match than a new match costs! Wtf?
