  1. A loooong time ago, my Dawson sights came with an aluminum punch with delrin tip. They also included a front sight tool, but I already had a better one. Do they not come with these tools anymore?
  2. One more vote for boresight solutions. I bought a used Glock with their stippling treatment. It's really really nice. Having seen a professional job, I wouldn't try it myself.
  3. That's terrible. I would never call a mike without getting right up to the target and possibly getting out my overlays.
  4. I like the Konus I have on a .22 rifle because it has both red and green dots. 5 brightness settings for each. Love the green!
  5. I really like the JP. You won't be disappointed.
  6. I got the gun used from a friend. Canyon Creek did the rear sight work. I noticed the dovetail is missing as well and it's a factory slide. I can only assume it was welded up and reshaped. I've never removed the sight so I can't speak for how it's attached, but probably drilled and tapped for two screws.
  7. Good point Chuck. I like 40 for everything and forget about 9mm. If I shoot open again, it will be in a 40 cal Glock.
  8. So if you installed a standard Dawson basepad, they would be too long for open. Dawson should make a basepad that would take these out to 171mm.
  9. I like this video. It's easier to see all the things I'm doing wrong from this angle.
  10. And now I'm pleased to announce my first centerfire bolt gun. A Remington 700 LTR in .308. Pretty basic I suppose. For now I have to try using my crappy Simmons scope until bonus time at the end of the year.
  11. Yes, it was a 3400 mile drive. I wanted to get as far away from South Florida as I could and still remain in the lower 48! I much prefer the weather up here. (Dislike heat)
  12. John Larson, jplprecision.com does great work. He is "jpl" here on the forum.
  13. Jager has listed "Gen 3 (and prior) Captured Hardened Steel Guide Rods" and you can select G34/35 for the gun type. I prefer the non captured and extended type for easy spring changes and installation after cleaning.
  14. My CZ 452 Ultralux purchased about 9 years ago. Back then they were rare. Now it seems they're making them again. Cheap Simmons 8-32X44AO scope.
  15. I like Bear Creek 140's with 4gr Ramshot Competition, 1.135"COL. PF~135.

    Carver comp...

Have you asked Carver what load is recommended, and what springs are recommended? I don't have any experience with an open Glock, but I know it took a long time to settle on a load with my open 40 cal open gun. After trying 3 powders, multiple charge weights and 5 different bullets, I finally found a load that worked really well.
  17. I feel there's some need for clarification on the above questions: Can't use a SAO gun in USPSA production, period. You can use a CZ DA/SA in USPSA production - the hammer has to be down, in double action mode, before the "Are you ready" command can be given. Some CZ's have a decocking lever, some require manually lowering the hammer. The model needs to be listed on the Approved Production Gun list. Revovlers in Revolver division may only shoot 6 rounds between reloads. You can shoot a revolver in production division and use all 8 rounds if your cylinder holds that many.
  18. Either 9 minor or 40 major? As starter of the 40 open thread, I vote for major in 40. At the Area 1 Championship, I had to perform 3 more reloads than the 9/38 guys. 3 reloads over the entire match does not make a difference in your performance. Those extras were on medium courses with lots of places to reload.
  19. Another question regarding the Viper HS LR series. I'm looking at the 4-16x44. The elevation is in 1/2 MOA clicks and the windage is in 1/4 MOA clicks. Is there an advantage to this? I guess you get 24 MOA for a full rotation of the elevation knob. That's good. But would there be confusion or annoyance when adjusting the windage knob? Or is the idea to dial the elevation and hold right or left for wind/moving target based on the MOA marks at 2, 4, 6, and 8 MOA?
  20. No you don't. $10 for a life membership in the Northwest Section. Don't have to be a member of the range itself. I'm not b/c I don't have the time to use the range outside of the matches.
  21. Was NuJudge talking about shooting a 9mm round in a 40 barrel? I don't think so. I assumed he meant feeding a 40 S&W cartridge into a 40 cal gun using a 9mm magazine. From what I recall way back when I was active on the Beretta Forum, there is a slight ramp cut in the frame as it leads into the barrel. The ramp cut in the frame is wider and slightly deeper on the Beretta 96 as compared to the one on the Beretta 92. The result was, as I've read, that a 92 upper on a 96 frame would work fine. A 96 upper on a 92 frame might not work so well.
  22. It's part of the journey. You'll never feel that you have the perfect gun for you if you didn't try a bunch of different makes and models. Eventually you'll settle on something that works best for you.
  23. The $550 Vortex PST is almost certainly not the FFP version. If it is, give me the number to your shop Surgeon.
  24. Thanks Graham, I was hoping you would reply. I appreciate your wise words and attention to detail. I bought the ABC's book years ago and recently went through the rifle portion again. Felling better now, but still was unsure about dies. I'll look at the die you suggested. Thanks
  25. What brand and type of dies should I be looking at getting? I've learned so far that I want to neck size (only one bolt rifle). What features should I be looking for in a set of rifle dies? Do I only need a two die set, or is there reason to have a 3 die set? Thanks
