  1. After review of the rule book it looks like it would even be legal (after the start signal) to hold a magazine in your off hand during a strong hand or weak hand only stage even though you would not benefit from it since you are never required to reload after going strong or weak hand only. 10.2.8 If a course of fire stipulates shooting strong or weak hand only, a competitor will not be penalized for using the other hand (i.e. the other arm from the shoulder to the hand) to disengage an external safety, to reload or to correct a malfunction. However, the competitor will be issued one procedural penalty per shot fired while: 10.2.8.1 Touching the handgun with the other hand while firing shots; 10.2.8.2 Using the other hand to support the handgun, wrist or shooting arm while firing shots; 10.2.8.3 Using the other hand on a barricade or another prop to increase stability while firing shots.
  2. You forgot the second part of 5.2.4. basically you have already retrieved the magazine from your pouch so it's game on: "Should the division restrict the location of the magazines or speed loading devices, carrying them in apparel pocket(s) forward of the restriction point will be allowed providing they are not removed fromthe apparel pocket(s) between the “standby” command and the command “ if clear, hammer down and holster”. (e.g. – a magazine may be retrieved from a front pocket to facilitate loading before the start signal or while unloading at the end of a COF without penalty). When stipulations in the WSB require placement of magazines or speed loaders on a table or similar location and not in the retention devices prior to the start signal, retrieving them and using them from the hand is allowed. Further, spare ammunition, magazines and/or speed loading devices carried in the hand after the start signal are not subject to the equipment position restrictions of Appendix D, Item 12, as long as they remain in the hand. "
  3. Really? Please site the rule as I disagree and would like to see what I missed. See and I think your interpretation is off on this. It also doesn't say that you can carry magazines in your gun but I am pretty sure that is allowed. I agree that you cannot start a stage touching a magazine.
  4. It's legal in a USPSA field course. I will have to check on mandatory strong hand/ weak hand shooting as to whether it would be allowed.
  5. Cool idea. I see lots of empty chamber starts. A lot of the top guys and girls are shooting a pistol with an external hammer. I am not sure that would work on a gun with an external hammer due to the position of the strap. Would be interesting for Glock/M&P.
  6. I think Safariland needs to get on the ball with making a QLS plate that fits the ELS belt better. While they are at it they need a QLS fork that gives more mounting options. I use ELs for all the rest of my gear but I feel like the Blade Tech TMMS on the ELS belt works better than the QLS just because it has more holes in the right places.
  7. Dodge you get the perfect impact sights from Dawson? You should be able to trade for a front that is a little taller to correct the problem. They also used to make some adjustables for the Glock that really liked. FO sights done work as well in doors obviously. I hate shooting iron sights in doors regardless of style. Low light just makes it much harder to get a fast or fine focus.
  8. The "ball and bucket" sights are just terrible. For some reason aligning them forward elevation just never felt natural or fast for me. You are much better off with a flat black rear and a good front with a fine profile. If I was stuck with stock Glock sights I would turn the rear around so I was looking at the black instead of the stupid bucket. Having a fiber optic front is really nice to be caused your eyes can find it so much faster in the daylight. You can't really get a full appreciation for a fiber optic sight untie you get it out of the basement or indoor rage and get them outside on a good day. By far the plastic Glock sights are th the most fragile part of the gun. It is trivial to break off the front sight. They also feature an extremely low grade sight picture. No serrations on the sights and an overall lack of definition. I am actually very surprised that Glock has not not done anything over the years too improve the stock sights because like Mary others the first thing I do when I get a new Glock is rip off the stock sights and put something decent on the gun.
  9. Why? What's the advantage they offer? More comfortable but the main advantage for me is that my fingers are less likely to bump the basepad for the mag behind the one I am removing from the mag holder on my belt, thus knocking the next mag out of the mag holder. The factory basepad sticks out a lot farther than the compact. Eric Interesting, thanks for the response. Eric. I will have to take a closer look at my mags tonight. I run 5 on my belt with ghost pouches in the bullet out configuration and haven't had a problem with knocking a magazine out. I can see where the Springer +0 base pads would be a nice addition as that little extra weight would help them drop free faster. Plus you can get them in pretty colors, customized with your name, and numbered. Seriously, how cool is this?
  10. How does the thickness compare on those grips? I am using the thick aluminums right now. The thins weren't enough for me.
  11. Just fine but with only two contact points? I was trying for a minimum of three points but maybe two would work fine.
  12. There are a few threads on this already. I am currently trying synthetic motor oil based on some previous discussions. I don't think that you should over lube. It just invites build up.
  13. I think it's because there are better ways to solve grip/slip issues than gloves. Grip tape in the right places can do wonders. Some type of fast dry liquid (Pro Grip or similar) should also always be in your bag to take care of sweat. Gloves will reduce your dexterity and I would be more worried about magazine changes and even fine trigger manipulation. It seems like adding another layer between your hands and the gun will almost always produce more opportunity to have your grip shift on you and will reduce feel and dexterity.
  14. I don't think so. The optic comment was a thread drift and a half. If I can use these as Production legal basepads ( http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=252&categoryId=42 ) then there is no way that minor mods to an OFM basepad should be illegal.
  15. The top row of hols on the QLS attachment will fit on the top row of an ELS belt. You would have to drill additional holes on the lower role if you wanted more than two attachment points (which is what I have done with the pictured TMMS). You can also get two screws from the DOH into the QLS fork but if you want a third attachment point then you would have to use the TMMS.

    LEARN me sumpin!

I am not aware of a primer height issue. Also, this gun ships with an extended firing pin which should make ignition more reliable even with reduced power mainsprings.

    LEARN me sumpin!

It's a great gun. No issues at all. It would be nice if it had the ACCU bushing but not having one saves you $350 and the gun is still plenty accurate. Is there a more specific question you have about this?
  19. If you can chronograph your ammo, find your scope hight, and look up your ballistic coefficient then you should be able to use a calculator to get close enough.
  20. KA, that sounds way to easy. I was just hoping that however the gun starts, if it ends up being identical to a legal Production gun then it should be legal. I am thinking a lot of the SP01 non Shadow, that could never be a legal SP01 Shadow, that could never be a legal SP01 ACCU Shadow even though it's the same frame for all 3. You should be able to modify each of these guns to the next level rather than having to buy the new one that happened to have the same mods done by the same shop but prior to you buying it.
  21. Is there any chance that a modification to the Production rules can be made to allow modification from one legal Production gun to another legal Production gun? It makes no sense that a G17 is legal and a G34 is legal but put a G34 slide on a G17 is not legal even though it's identical to the G34. It doesn't help that most of these currently illegal mods are not something that can be discovered at the chronograph stage.
  22. +1It looks miniscule next to the JP railed gas block that it replaced.
