  1. Until then putting a little bit grip tape on the back of the slide has really helped me.
  2. Looks like SLR Sentry 7 adjustable gas block. They are nice. Very nice piece but I had to send mine back. They use milspec spacing for the gas port (.295") so if your barrel uses something shorter than that, Nordic 18" Wylde for example at .270", it won't work for you. That is the barrel I have it on. It has been working very well for me. What is not supposed to work about it? The gas port on the Nordic barrel is 0.270" from the shoulder. The gas port on the Sentry block is 0.295" from the edge of the block. Even if you seat the block fully against the shoulder of the barrel you're still clipping part of the port off. That may have worked out to be a non-issue depending on the ammo and weather but I didn't want to take any chances since we shoot in weather that can be in the 30's and the last thing I want to have happen is run out of gas because my ports weren't aligned. The Syrac Gen II uses a click detent system as well, I'm hoping they've chosen to space their port closer to the edge. I think I am about 7 or 8 clicks out from zero. I think the Sentry has like 12 clicks and it did surprise me that I had to do out that far to get it to function. Nonetheless I am within the operating range with plenty of adjustment in ether direction so I am happy with it.

  4. A for effort, but F for legality. Just because someone was creative is no reason to let him blatantly break a rule that is extremely clear. And what is the punishment per the rulebook? Give you a hint, it isn't moving him into open. I think of this as being more of a gray area. It's still within two inches. He ran out of pouch space and by the looks of the gear he is a newer shooter so he is doing the best he can. The rules are there for a reason but at a club match where there is absolutely no competitive advantage with something like this maybe we should just relax on occasion. Flame away but there is no need to be authoritarian.
  5. IMHO it's close enough to legal that I would let him run with it. It's not like he found a loophole that would give him an advantage. It's still going to be slow and still being retained by the mag pouches in a way. I say "A" for effort.
  6. You can download Swype from the Play Store. I prefer SwiftKey. You might be able to fix the LED with an app like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager Not sure what text message program is. I use Hangouts but you can change it if you want to use something else. I liked the blue better too. If you want more control over your home screen that won't get changed by an update and can be put on phones from different manufacturers try Nova Luncher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher

  8. Slide ride dots are certainly not new but what is new is the vast improvements in size, reliability, and battery life. For the first time red dots are truly "practical" and could easily be at home in any concealed carry holster or function as a duty sidearm. I firmly believe that our sport has helped to situate the red dot platform on this new plateau and I an very interested to see where it goes from here.
  9. First and foremost for a competition shooter is that it is much slower than using the slide stop. Second is that you are more likely to introduce a malfunction. It's easy to follow the slide forward with your hand which reduces the force that your recoil spring uses to chamber the next round. For speed and consistency the slide stop works better every time. Ahhh Yes, I come from the non competition world, what you said makes sense. As far as a defective slide stop spring... I don't know right now i swapped it with the one from my G19 we will see how it goes today. I personally don't see the benefit of an extended one =) I had to do the same thing on my 34.

    3 Gun CZ's

I hope you're aware that the grip tape will get you the bump to open if you're shooting production. I know you started this thread to figure out how to have a gun for 3 gun and Production so I figured you would want to know that. I didn't start the thread and don't try to shoot my single action, magwelled, frame shortened TS in Production. I have a SP01 for Production and keep the grip tape on the approved areas for that. I may eventually go with a slide racker on the TS and would mind an ACCU job as well.
  11. 21 versus 28-30 rounds is a big deal in you are trying to be competitive. It means that on most field courses you would have to perform a reload whereas other open shooters could clear the stage using one big stick. If wouldn't be more than a second or two lost at worst but the open that can be significant. I also think it would be harder to get comps, scope mounts, basepads, and etc.
  12. There are more people shooting L10 (all the banned Hicap state) then there are people shooting production guns that have dots. So you want to kill a division that affects many and add a division that has zero shooters. When was the last time anyone showed up to a match with a production gun with a dot? This could offer another 10 round alternative for ban States. Then again, I just pulled up some match results for a California club and it looks like despite the ban Open and Limited have way more participation than L10.

  14. Why would it not be easy to enforce a $1K limit. The MSRP is under $1K, or it is not. Pretty simple, and the VAST majority of guns used in Production are under the price point. Because the gun I bought this year with a separate of $999 is no longer legal next year because they raised the price $1. And if you then try to grandfather guns by year and model good luck keeping that straight Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk It would seem strange to have your Production gun costing more than your Production Optics gun.
  15. I was waiting to see that but no, Looks like grip interfering with the slide stop. The other thing you should get used to doing is using the slide stop to close the slide instead of manually racking it back to release. Why can't you manually rack the slide? I do it all the time..... You do it all the time just to chamber a round in the gun or is that also how you perform slide-lock reloads?

  17. I kind of doubt it. Lots of discussion about the drawbacks of Sigs but the first issue that comes to my mind for open would be magazine capacity.
  18. This rule is for open class only. All other classes per rule 5.3.4.3 say you cannot use a supporting device, bi-pod monopod etc. Right. OP mentioned shooting open.
  19. And good to go under FNH 3 Gun rules: 4.4 Participants generally may not reconfigure any firearm during the course of the event. Explicitly prohibited acts include changing caliber, barrel length, shotgun magazine tube length, sighting systems and/or stock style. Explicitly permitted acts include installing or removing support devices (e.g. bipods), slings and other minor accessories (e.g. scope covers). 5.2.3.1 Supporting devices (e.g. bipods) are permitted, and may begin any stage folded or deployed at the participants discretion.
  20. Good to go by USPSA rules: 2.1.2.2 Chokes, slings, bi-pods, monopods, ammo/mag holders, and flashlights may be added, removed or changed at any time during the match, providing that they are allowed in the competitors division.
  21. Yeah, I think it would have to be measured off of the SA or striker fired pull. Not the DA pull. I agree the DA pull only would be a huge advantage to the DA/SA guns.3 lb or 3.5 lb SA or striker fired pull sounds reasonable to me
  22. I think that would be the best idea, especially if the division allows Single Stack (Like a 4# first pull minimum) and only allowing SA with SS guns. I brought this idea up a few months ago, and I know it has been raised a few more times previous. I believe it would be a big step forward for USPSA. I also think all of the opposing arguments are VERY weak. I know it might not be the best decision and I might ruin a perfectly good Production pistol, but I think I will be having a slide milled in the near future to start a beta run for the proposed division. I encourage all who are heavily in favor for this idea to join me. We could keep track of matches shot, equipment used, etc. Someone said earlier "If you build it..." I say we take on the challenge. Just get a new slide for your current production gun. Might be able to use it for steel challenge open as well.
  23. Very cool. My oldest is five but I already can't wait to take him to a match with me. Best of luck to you and your boy.
  24. "deliberate attempts on the part of the shooter to circumvent or violate the competition rules to gain a competitive advantage" If it's already a specific rule being violated then why not use the established punishment for violating that specific role? In my mind FTDR is a catch all that an SO can pull out of his or her back pocket when they feel like someone just figured out a better or more effective way to shoot a stage. It's the penalty that is given out for "gaming" while playing a game.
