  1. I love my Atlas Titan and the Honcho looks very interesting but if you not in any huge hurry, Dan Wesson has a new gun coming for 2020, the DWX. 1911 style trigger and safeties but built like a CZ Shadow 2. MSRP is less than $2,000. It uses CZ P09 mags so they will be reasonably priced. You will be able to buy 2 DWX’s for what one Atlas or PT gun will cost. Looks very interesting! Just a thought. 2. What stick said, looks like un-burned powder. What kind of powder are you using? Have you chrono’d the ammo? Are the casings very dirty after you fire them? Could be a crimp issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. My experience is they run great without much need for tuning. That is not the case with the STI mags I have. I’ve moved all my STI mags to practice mags and only run the MBX mags for matches. The only mag issue I have ever had in a match was with an STI mag, MBX 100%! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Yes that works or DAA makes a holster PDR Pro II specifically for Sig 1911’s. Love that holster. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I’ve used the Tripp Corey mags from Shooters Connection. Just a few modifications from the standard that makes them more consistent and reliable. I use them in a Sig 1911 Max. https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Tripp-10mm-9-Round-Government-System-Corey-Magazine-wBasepad-P3335.aspx Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I had a S&W Pro Series and while it was a fine gun, it was hard to find sights to replace the 3 dot sights that came on it. Because it was going to cost so much to get it how I wanted it for USPSA and IDPA, I traded it and bought a Sig 1911 Max. My only complaints with the Sig are it doesn’t fit standard 1911 holsters and it is a Series 80 (same as the S&W) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Sorry, I thought I responded earlier. I have not tried OAL at 1.18. I have been loading for this gun at 1.125. If I get a chance I will run some of my limited rounds at 1.18 through and let you know.
  8. You take out the firing pin block from the slide, and the two pieces in the fire control group that activate the firing pin block. That leaves a gap. You fill the gap with a spacer designed to do just that. $9 part. https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/TJs-Custom-Gunworks-COLT-1911-SERIES-80-TO-70-CONVERSION-SHIM--P2284.aspx Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I have a Sig Max 1911 in .40. Took out the series 80 parts and installed a spacer, worked on the trigger and it has a nice 2.75lb trigger. Worst part of the Sig’s are they don’t fit a normal 1911 holster. Double Alpha makes one specifically for the Sig or you can add an extra spacer to a 1911 holster. I think the Sig Max is a great option for the money. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. I may be in the minority but I think new USPSA shooters will benefit most from starting in Production or Single Stack? My reasons; while you get to shoot minor (easier), points matter more so it forces you to work on accuracy. You have to reload more so you get more practice doing that as well. Stage planning is a little more complicated, so you get to work on that more. After spending a year or two in Production, a move to Limited will seem easier but your skill level will be better. Ultimately it all comes down to how much you are willing to invest in practice. Both dry fire and live fire practice. Getting some training from a reputable teacher will teach you how to practice to get the most out of your time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. We won't let a squad leave the sign in area without a designated RO and preferably a certified RO. All RO's shoot for free so there is usually no problem getting someone to step up. If there is only one person on the squad that has RO experience, it becomes a teaching moment for the rest of the squad. Time to understand how to run the timer and score targets...etc. If you want to play the game, you have to participate in the whole game.
  13. I have a Springfield RO that has the tightest chamber I have ever seen. I’ve had some feeding and extraction issues with hand loads but most factory ammo works great. Same hand loads work fine in all my other guns. Might have someone ream the chamber to make it more friendly! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. https://gxproductsusa.com/ The best holster I have ever owned.
  15. My Titan will run my hand loads that didn’t pass the case gauge. I keep those rounds for practice and everyone has fired without a problem. I do inspect them for any defect before they go into the practice bin. Every gun is a little different. I have a Springfield RO that the chamber is so tight it won’t shoot most of my hand loads but will shoot most factory ammo all day long. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I just took a private lesson with Steve Anderson. I can’t recommend him enough. He teaches you better ways to shoot but most of all how to practice. It was a 4 hour drive and worth every bit of time. Best bet is get 2 or 3 friends to go with you. We worked for almost 7 hours straight and I was exhausted, more mentally than physically.
  17. I am down to only being able to see the fiber optic dot in the notch but no clear view of the whole post. It works OK but I'm sure it causes me to leave some points on the table. I tried having my bifocal at the top of the insert but when I could see the front sight clearly, the targets were too blurred. I use Rudy Rydons with the RX insert with my normal prescription. Think I am going to have to give Hunters God a try. A few of my buddies have switched and say it made a huge difference. Contacts have never worked for me so I am stuck with glasses. Fighting off the move to a dot gun but I know it is coming. Getting old sucks! However, it does beat the alternative!
  18. My Titan will run any factory ammo I have tried. Purchase without worry. Magazines are the pick things in 2011’s IMHO. MBX mags run most consistently in my Titan. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Are you having the issue with all your mags? If so the mags may not be the problem. If it is just one or two of them, the mags may need some tuning. If you can rule out the mags, then I would try different recoil springs. If that doesn’t fix the issue it would almost have to be the OAL.
  20. While I think most of the videos are excellent basics, I feel like I have seen most of the videos before. The only thing that appears new are Horner’s videos. However they seem to be adding new one regularly. Would be great for a new shooter.
  21. You all may want to check out this new holster company run by a local shooter, GX Prducts https://gxproductsusa.com/?fbclid=IwAR38DXJ9Xp2EEBdplneEX3JBjt649x0KLpGAplPJpcmOIde15mnqq-w0Nv4 Lafe makes some outstanding holsters for many gun models and adding new ones all the time. He has an interesting retention system for his double layered kydex holsters. I have an early model and it is solid as a rock. Will be purchasing more for other guns in the future.
  22. I’m just about to turn 60 and almost as fit today as I was in my 30’s. I work out 3 times a week. Alternating push days, pull days, legs, core and agility. I have only been shooting for 5 years and my goals are not to be just high senior! If you want to stay active for all your life, take care of your body now! Exercise, remove sugar from your diet and moderate or eliminate alcohol. Work with a trainer to get started and get you on track. You will not regret being in shape. You may regret getting in shape! lol
  23. I have 2 CK Arms pistols. A Hardcore in 9mm I use for 3-Gun and a a Thunder in 40 S&W for USPSA Ltd. I bought both used but in fairly new condition. I have also handled but not shot a Atlas Titan. The CK’s are what I would call a semi custom pistol. Well built, good fit and very reliable. Excellent choice for middle of the pack competitors wanting a little more for their money than an out of the box STI. I did a little trigger work on them to get them where I want them. The Atlas gun was much more refined and customized. Smoother operation and already fully tuned and ready to rock. But it costs $1,000 plus more then a new CK and should be more tuned. If you can afford it, I would go with the Atlas but if yo need to save some money, CK will take you where you want to go. I have no experience with an Akai. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. I use them for my SS 1911. Tried Blue Bullets but they caused some issues. Have had zero issues with the Xtreme 200gr. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
