    Favorite Lube

Rand CLP work great for me. Had some issues with Frog Lube in cold weather but liked it when the temps were warm. Rand stays slick in all weather, no smell and cleaning is a breeze. Their new Bore & Bolt cleans well also. Really good for AR's

    SP-01 & Ammo

I run Xtreme 124 RN at 1.13 without issue. Tried BBI coated 115 at 1.12 and they would not chamber reliably. I believe the bullet profile had a lot to do with the difference.
  3. Have about 300 rounds through my new TS and sent it to a gunsmith to have the checkering removed and undercut the trigger guard. He is also installing the CZC extended safety. Need some grips, magwell, 13lb recoil spring and sights and it should be ready for USPSA Ltd. But first I'll need some practice!
  4. Thanks so much for a great match today. The 3-Man format was an absolute blast. Thanks to the Brians, Rockcastle Shooting Center, the RO's, Samson and Magpul! Look forward to the next one!
  5. I use CGW's EZ-D sights on my SP-01 and have no issues. I have a Taran Tactical set on a Glock 35 that I love but he is not making them for CZ. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Got my new TS! Some parts on the way from CZ Custom; SS guide rod, mag extentions, springs & followers and extended safety lever. Not crazy about the front sight. Seems too wide. May have change to a FO front with factory rear. Need to change grips too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Great review! Have a new one on the way. Looking forward to getting it ready for USPSA Limited. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks for the input. Hope to pick it up next week. I plan on shooting a few hundred rounds through it stock to see what I might like to improve. I know I need to increase mag capacity and get some thinner grips for my small hands. After that we'll see. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I just ordered a new CZ Tactical Sport 40 S&W to use in USPSA Limited. What modifications and vendors do you recommend to get it ready? I know I can send it to CZ Custom and have them trick it out but would rather work on it myself. Here are some of my thoughts; CZ Custom IPSC Magwell Mag Extensions? Not sure what brand. Suggestions? CZ Custom Thin Aluminum Grips, short to fit magwell CZ Custom flat aluminum trigger Are there larger safety levers? Fiber Optic front sight. Is the CZ Custom adjustable rear worth the money? Do I need to do anything to the firing pin, springs or any other internals? I didn't think it would be necessary as it already has a light trigger pull. Thanks for the input!
  10. No problems. They are not that much bigger. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I put one on mine because I have small hands. Even with thin VZ grips I could've function the original mag release easily. The extended release made a big difference. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I agree. Why mess around trying to get all those parts when you can buy a great gun out-of-the-box. No worries, no headaches as eveything works. They come with a great trigger! I personally like working on my guns so I don't mind doing the work myself (being a mechanical engineer, it's fun and I consider it a hobby). This is how I would do my upgrades: Sights of your choice SRS-2 kit from CGW (or parts that are included in the kit) Potentially a lighter recoil spring (I use an 11#) Grips of your choice That will put you right at the $200 mark (or slightly over). You could polish up the factory sear, trigger bar, and hammer if you don't mind doing the work yourself (see kneelingatlas's thread or others out there) Then with a bit more money you can get: T2 disconnector from CGW to drop into your SP01 (T1 if you want to fit it yourself and squeeze every mil out of the tolerance stack and get the shortest reset out of your gun) and Hammer from CGW or CZC (for production: CGW has a re-profiled shadow hammer that fits the SP01 and CZC has a CZ-UB hammer - not sure if they recut the hooks? don't have much experience with it). Billet sear from CGW since it's easier to tune if the safety doesn't engage properly (optional) Here are a few items that I would also do for reliability, or ease of installation: Reduced trigger return spring and floating trigger pin from CGW Solid firing pin retaining pin Hammer/Disconnect pin Spare parts: Slide stop Mag springs Trigger Return Spring I think when all said and done, $1000 will get you an awesome CZ that contends with the SP01 Shadow Custom with a decent % in savings. But that's just me and my 2 cents +1 I did all this to my SP-01 and have an outstanding USPSA setup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Frog Lube

I started using it over a year ago. It works very well if you do the first two or three applications with the heat. After that I used it just like an oil. It stays dry feeling until the gun heats up and then gets very slick. However, I had a problem last winter with a Sig P229. It was about 30 degrees out and I could not get the gun to fire. Figured out there was some Frog Lube in the firing pin channel. The lube was in a paste form and prevented the firing pin from moving with enough velocity to make a decent primer strike. I laid the gun on my warm car engine, unloaded of course, and warmed it up. Then it started to work fine. I can't have that kind of issue when I depend on my firearm, so I'm done with Frog Lube. Switched to Rand CLP and never looked back. Both make the gun so easy to clean. Carbon just wipes off. If I lived in a warmer weather area I would probably still be using Frog Lube. But Rand CLP works just as well without the cold weather concern. I use it on all my guns and shoot USPSA and 3-gun with excellent results. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. jmorris, you are correct I was hoping I would be convinced to stick with my current setup. My reason for changing my mind is time. WhIle the 650 is a big investment I can probably save 4-5 hours a month loading. Looking at the cost/benefit As Graham mentions it will "pay for itself" in time in a year or less. So, more ammo and more time to shoot! How could I make any other decision? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. OK, I think I'm going to drink the blue Kool-Aid! Should I buy direct from Dillon or are there other dealers I should consider? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I just loaded some Xtreme 135 RNFP over 3.4gr of Titgroup. Avg velocity was about 930. The accuracy was wonderful at 15 yds. Need to bump the power factor up to around 130 to make sure I don't have any match issues. Next try with 3.5 & 3.6 gr and report back. I have some 147's on the way and will try them as well. They are shooting through a CZ 75 SP-01. Everything I read makes me think the CZ will like the heavier bullet. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. SonnyCrockett, no doubt but hand loading has become my only exersise! haha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. danman00, that is a great idea! Really makes the time payoff shorter even with the extra cost! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Has anyone used the Crosshair Carbine Recoil Buffer from Brownell's? I installed on on my Sig M400 and now there is no recoil! Combined with a good compensator the sights never leave the target. I recommend it! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I looked at these on an app called Wish. They sell stuff from all over including Europe. Lots of SC 3's for $70 and some less. Not sure if I would trust an overseas company but if money is an issue it might be worth the gamble.
  22. CZ's are big at my club. I found an SP-01 (not a Shadow) and rebuilt it with CGW parts and have improved my times and accuracy over my G17. Heavy steel gun seems easier to control than the polymer guns. Would love to trade my G35 for a Tac Sport. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. For this reloading nube, why buy brass over just using range brass? Does it help accuracy, consistancy...etc? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Yes sir, I do. Thanks for your input. Might have to ask Santa for a 650! Until then you can find me in the garage, listening to KSR podcast, cranking out rounds. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
