  1. I hope they can reproduce what they have done with the R1 series. My R1 enhanced is a tack driver with a good out of the box trigger. My P16.40 is a great gun, but feels much cheaper than the R1. Para took too many shortcuts with cheap parts. I look forward to a Remington double stack.
  2. Darn it, I was hoping for a new type of match I haven't tried yet. Preferably something that incorporated artillery.
  3. What is 4 gun? Rifle, pistol, shotgun & blackpowder, 40W plasma rifle, tank, howitzer? My imagination is running wild. I have to know what i am missing.
  4. Go with 9 and stick a big stick in it. Nothing like 30 rounds in a pistol. Impress your friends.
  5. I saw something like that from someone's reloading room photos on this site. It looks virtually the same. I remember in the caption they mentioned they had made the holder. Someone's ingenuity turned into a viable product.
  6. I get my start points by reading what others have posted on the forums. Most threads I have read for 40cal 180gr coated lead loads with HP38 or W231 powder is 5.0-5.1gr of powder for a 170PF load. Load length will need to be determined for each different pistol. Just remember the shorter you go the higher the pressure. So if someone posts a load of 5.0gr with a load length of 1.2" and I load at 1.15-1.16" I know I need to start lower and work my way up. I load 5.0gr W231 (same as HP38) at 1.150" using Acme or BBI 180gr coated and get consistent 168-170PF loads. I started by loading 10 rounds at 4.6gr, 10 at 4.7gr, 10 at 4.8, 4.9, 5.0, 5.1-5.5gr. When I ran each set over the chrono I averaged the 10 shots and determined which one got me over 165PF. Once I determined which load I was comfortable using (5.0) I loaded another 25 and ran them over the chrono to verify my results. I log all my results in a notebook and can refer back to it if need be. When you change to a different lot of the same powder you will need to rechrono your load to verify that the different lot is not running faster or slower than the previous lot. Fortunately for me, when I switched from HP38 to W231 and subsequent lots of W231, my load stayed the same.
  7. Yes, SPS' s web page worked fine. Once I called my credit card company and had the charges approved, I got the items in two weeks. Since the plastic wedge pads are 143mm, I replaced them with TTI 7G pads for a 140mm mag that holds 20 for roughly $85. If I can get an 18.9 for a reasonable price, I am definately going with SPS mags. They have a nice stainless steel tube with good internals. I have no reason to replace springs and followers. MBX makes a good product, but in my opinion they are too expensive. If I can order mags from one continent, base pads from another continent, and have a reliable mag at 2/3 the price, they are doing something wrong.
  8. I have been using SPS mags for a few weeks in my 16.40 and have been impressed. One range I shoot at has mostly sand bays and the mags took it in stride. Just shake them out and they keep going.
  9. Since you are in Europe check out SPS in Spain. They have single stacks and double stacks (both STI/SVI type and Para type). My only interaction with them is buying magazines, but they were great to deal with even with having credit card troubles since I am in the U.S.
  10. If you're getting the ammo at cabelas, get the winchester 100rd value pack with 165gr bullets. That is the softest shooting factory I could find. The next choice is the herters brand in 180 grain. It is steel cased with a 180gr bullet. It packs a punch compared to the value packs but shoots decent.
  11. In my experience HP38/W231 works well in all the regular pistol cartridges at normal loads. 380, 9mm, 38 special, 40, 45, etc. It is just a little dirty.
  12. The easy loader was a god send on my 11-87. When I went from weak hand loading to load two, I started to pinch my thumb on the end of "fingers" on the easy loader. I ended up cutting the "fingers" in half to shorten them. That made loading two much easier.
  13. The M&P works great for limited. I have used one for a couple of years. It just runs and runs. I love not having to worry about reliability. I am a high C class shooter and usually high C right in the middle of the B's at my local matches. I recently switched to a Para Pro Custom, and while it is 12oz heavier and much more accurate, I had the worst match of my life last weekend. In 10 stages I had 8 mikes and 3 no shoots. I am contemplating moving back to the M&P, I shoot it so much better than the Para. The M&P is not holding you back. Keep shooting it in Limited.
  14. It's a couple weeks later and I still like the Acme's. They load great, and now that I have shot some, they shoot great. Accuracy is the same as any other coated bullet I have tried.
  15. You might want to look into 20ga for her. I shoot with a lady that uses a Benelli 20ga and she has no issues with long steel, flippers, etc. with a modified choke. The recoil of the 20ga in the Benelli is about equal to the recoil in my Versa Max since the gun is so light and the inertia recoil system. For the softest shooting SG I would look into a Remington 1100 or 11-87 in 20ga.
  16. For $65 you can send your barrel to Adco Firearms for a cut and thread. I have had several rifle and pistol barrels threaded by them since they are local. Everything turned out great except for one issue, but they quickly made it right.
  17. Thanks for the replies everyone. I thought the fiber was .040 but kept getting anywhere from .030 to .036 when trying to measure. Knowing that .040 will fit really helps out.
  18. Does anyone know the diameter of the fiber in the front site that comes on the Pro Custom pistols? It is pretty small and I am having trouble getting my calipers on it while it is still in the site.
  19. Off topic, but for a low/ground target on loose rocks, put a large piece of doubled up heavy carpet in the impact zone. It really keeps debris from flying.
  20. Holy necropost Batman. Since this thread was originally started, there have been holster hangers made by invictus practical and springer precision. Take a look at them all before you choose. I dont think you can go wrong with either three, but I would put my money on the Boss. Just personal preference.
  21. I have done it twice this year. First time was a USPSA match and thankfully my wife called when I was 20 minutes away and was able to turn around and get it. I was only a little late for registration. The second time was two weeks ago at a 3gun match. I was an hour and a half from home when I realized it. Someone had a holster that fit my M&P and I ran mags out of my pockets. Managed to salvage the day.
  22. When I put a fastfire on my G17 I used a Blackhawk CQC holster without the serpa button. The front of the holster was open down to the ejection port allowing the pistol to fit with the sight on it. I had a normal front site on my pistol so I am not sure if suppressor height sights will fit the channel.
  23. A lower cost alternative is the Burris PEPR mount. Skip the version with the quick disconnects and get the one that simply bolts on. They are a rugged mount that has served me well for years but they are not the lightest.
  24. You can buy confidently in Apex. If for some reason the trigger parts would not fit, they will help you out and get you what you need to make it right.
  25. I use an ALS for my M&P's in 3gun. Yes the front of the pro does stick out the end of the holster, but so far it has not caused me any problems. I did have issues with the front site hitting the bottom of the ALS insert on the draw. It would cause a little hang up sometimes but the kicker is it would break the bead off the fiber insert. I went through too many fibers before I modified my holster. If you remove the ALS insert there will be a channel in it for the front site. I chamfered the channel to make a funnel for the front site on the draw. No more hangups and I don't go through nearly as many fibers.
