  1. 3gunner here who has learned the value of good hearing protection. MSA/Sordin puts the true reduction value on their products. While it is listed as a 21 db loss, the muffs with gel seals do a much better job of reduction than the other manufacturers who claim 28-30db reductions. Testing for reduction has many gray areas. I have peltors that are rated 32db reduction and they are not even close to my Sordins in reduction. My family was at a tractor pull event last Saturday night. My son (9yo) was bawling when the unlimiteds were pulling saying his ears hurt. He had my peltors on with gel seals. With my Sordins on it was a tad uncomfortable with the noise level for 13-15 seconds at a time. I switched with him. He was happy with my Sordins and enjoyed the rest of the night. I learned that peltors suck (6S with gel seals, no where near the reduction that they claim) and ordered Supreme Pro X`s for my wife and son on Monday. My wife was wearing 6S`s with the stock foam pads. She never complained, but said it was loud even with the muffs on. I also learned tractor pulls are fun. I have lived 20 miles away from the national tractor pull championship in Bowling Green, Ohio for the past 25 years and never went. We will be back next year. Loud noise you can feel in your chest, ground shaking horsepower, 5 engines blowing up at once, turbo diesels pouring out the black smoke, FFFFFUUUUUULLLLL PPPPUUUULLLLL, 20 thousand drunks in the stands........whats not to like.
  2. If you're close to Ft. Wayne, check FWRR. (Google it). Good USPSA program, nice range and good people. For 3gun there is the Indiana multi gun series at several different ranges from central to northern Indiana. Check out a match.
  3. Racer is where it's at for pouches and holsters. I have been very happy with mine.
  4. I have done the stone to fit and one that fills the trench and rattles around. It didn't matter, they both had the same result, reducing my trigger pull a little. Pick one that will slide in and buy it.
  5. When all this crap comes from china, how do you differentiate? China made crap at $130(gander mtn) is the same as china made crap at $30(ali baba). Try both, then tell me the "authentic" shoes are better. I have tried both and they are the same damn thing. Either they came from the same factory or too much time was spent making copies. They were that close I could not tell a difference. Too bad both were too skinny for my feet. I returned the $130 shoes, and sold the $30 for a little profit. Nike $30 wide football cleats from Dicks works well for me.
  6. Find a Bass Pro or Cabelas close to you. In the fishing sections you will find "tackle box" back packs. They offer a lot of room with compartments that shooters will find useful and they are much cheaper than "shooting" back packs. I have been using a $39 backpack from Bass Pro for the last two seasons and it has held up well. It has a built-in cooler on top which is invaluable in the summer months and the large bottom section gives me plenty of room for pistol, ammo boxes, eyes and ears, etc. There are plenty of pockets on the side for tools and spare parts.
  7. Wannabees? Tactical timmies? This kind of thinking is exactly whats wrong. "You're different than me me so I will put you down." How about new shooters that are an addition to our sport? Isn't this exactly what the f*** we are striving for? Growing practical shooting by offering new and exciting divisions. Seems to be a big win if there are new shooters you have never seen before. This weekend I am putting on my boots, grabbing a big old bowie knife, and shooting PCC just to see if I can give any of the old farts a heart attack this weekend. Doubt it will work, folks are pretty tolerant in my neck of the woods.
  8. Yes the 7G basepads. Thanks for the correction. The SPS 140mm tubes actually measure 134mm on the button. Adding the 7mm basepads takes you to 141mm with a .25mm cushion. I just tore apart a mag and double checked. I had it in my head a 137mm tube with 4mm basepad.
  9. The mags fit the gauge, verified with an actual gauge, not calipers.
  10. I have 4 9MM SPS 140MM magzines with TTI 4G basepads that I get 24 reloadable every time. No voodoo needed, just stock guts and they fit the gauge. My 40 SPS also load 21 every time with the same treatment. I don't know, what the Spainiards do to get the capacity, but they do do it well.
  11. Yep, the ALS is tough on FO front sights. After losing countless fibers I now chamfer the channel the front site slides through on the draw. It doesn't take much. Also, I have learned that the end of the fiber that faces the shooter should be flush with the front site so when drawing with the ALS there is no bead or even bump to get knocked off. When it's flush, it is also a perfect circle, I like this presentation better than a small blob.
  12. I liked the online registration. It worked well and limiting the match to a 100 or so shooters was nice. I got out of there at 4 even though my squad was one of the last shooting. Big thanks to the setup and design crew. Every month I get to show up and shoot a kickass 225-250 rd match with 9 stages that puts most level 2 matches to shame. Big props to WCRH. This is the one match I make sure to hit every month.
  13. 4.9gns with coated bullet and 5.2 with plated bullet. Both loads are 168pf out of an M&P and 170 out of a Para Pro Custom.
  14. "Taylor freelance 170mm basepad on a 31 round tube, with their mega spring. Gets you just over 40 rounds I believe.." This guy was reading my mind. I have a similar problem, I want to, expand my Colt 33rd mags to around 40 for a little cushion. I am going to try different basepads to see what fits. If I cant find one that fits it shouldn't be too hard to make one or two.
  15. Take your pick from the DAA models, you can't go wrong. I have several of the Racers that I have bought for less than $75 used from here on the boards. Pre magnetic and magnetic models, they both work well and with the lock on hold the gun securely. Guns with rounded trigger guards will rock, but squared trigger guard guns only wiggle a little.
  16. I am not going to shoot it this year. I have a 3gun match on Saturday and playing paintball on Sunday with my son. My friend only shoots 3gun so the length is not critical on the mags. (Unless he goes to a major match)
  17. Everyone, thanks for the info. I have a friend with a 9mm pro custom and 6 stock mags who was looking to increase capacity. So it seems he can just buy basepads and use his stock guts to gain capacity.
  18. Who here has put Dawson extensions on Pro custom magazines? Was is just put the basepad on with extended spring and all was good to go? Did you have to change the follower?
  19. Go with GT. I love MGM products but loathe their star. It's great as a shooter, but a match nightmare for a stage. When shooting 3gun and I have a star for shotgun I always send my first round into the center. I am guaranteed atleast two plate falls. At rockcastle in 2014 a center hit guaranteed 5 fallen plates. The original star from GT seems to work much better in my experience.
  20. Yes, blue fingers. I dont know what their coating is but it works.
  21. Try increasing your bell. Lead likes shave and make fat rounds. The rounds that fail the plunk test, where are they failing? That is your biggest clue to what is wrong.
  22. I wear 44 pants, got 46 belt, have 4-5 inches of overlap with 3 mag pouches and holster (all AA).
  23. TT is great, just like the myriad of companies in the shooting sports.
  24. There are no differences between the 40 and 9 guns besides hole size. Even the 357 Sig guns use the same parts. A holster for a 9 pro will fit a 40 pro and vice versa. There is a difference between the 9l slides though, so that is something to look out for.
