  1. 12 round tube. Using an Xrail 10 monotube with +2 extension. No clamp (pointless devices) Yes not ALL JM pros are bad. In fact, the majority probably work great. But why buy a guy with a 30% chance of breaking when you can buy a gun with a 1% chance? I need more than one hand to count all the JM Pro's I've seen break at matches, and I need one hand to count the sum of every other manufacturer shotguns that have broken. Don't risk it, buy a better gun.
  2. ALL of my magazines are pre-ban Prove me wrong...
  3. If you're including magazines..? I don't know what platform will get you to that price range, I'm not aware of any worth spending time on. Might as well keep saving and then find a deal on something used. Shane Coley won Ltd Nationals with a Glock 35... just saying
  4. I prefer shorter barrels, 21". Little less weight out front helps swing faster. The shorter sight radius makes little difference when you're still talking about a 21" barrel. Velocity difference I haven't found to be an issue. If you're concerned about knocking over the target, run a faster load for that stage. But yes, avoid JM Pro's... that should be a sticky thread.
  5. Fiocchi low-recoil. I use the Jerry Miculek branded ones. B&P are the softest out there, but I really don't feel the need to go THAT soft. Fiocchi's seem to be more readily available.
  6. Here is where I started: GM in Limited: Check GM in Open: On the way, don't get to shoot enough, and I am currently in Tac-ops mode so the blaster is in the safe. Top 10 at Mg Nats: Well, I have been listening to lots of wise folks and reading Lanny Bashamm, and they are all saying focus on the process vs. the results. So I want to change this goal to SHOOT FREAKING AWESOME at MG Nats. I feel very confident in my shooting ability right now, and am positive I see significant improvements over my past 23rd and 25th place finishes. My training sessions are focused and deliberate: offhand plate racks, shotgun load 4's, weapon transitions, etc. Top 25 at Handgun Nationals: I am switching this to SHOOT FREAKING AWESOME at Open Nationals. I am very confident that with my training regime I will be a top placer, and Top 15 is very doable. As for dry-fire sessions, I am doing probably 5 times a week, and they average 15-45 minutes, so I am doing well there. I spend another hour or two listening to podcasts, studying match videos, and have significantly increased my focus on mental preparation. Thinking about winning, executing perfect reps, and visualizing stages. The fitness element is going the best. I have probably taken 5-ish days off this entire year so far. I feel strong, agile, quick, healthy. My gains in deadlifting has plateau'd so I'm taking a few weeks off from that and going to switch up training when I return. I am focusing a little more on cardio and explosiveness in preparation for major match season, which hasn't started for me yet. I have lost 7 pounds since the beginning of the year, even though that was never a goal, I guess I just had that much excess fat lying around. 1K club still seems a ways off, but I did hit 300 on bench, my squats feel good (probably could hit 340), but my deadlifts haven't moved (315)
  7. I am in a position where I only get to live fire once a month, and it's typically in a local match setting. I am not getting live fire reps in, except in a static and laned range maybe every other month, which makes it very difficult to test a lot of the skills we use. I dry fire probably 5-6 times a week, and I am still seeing my skills improve. Knowing how to practice, how to dry-fire, and how to evaluate myself without live fire is an important skill, but it has taken me a long time to figure it out. Ron Avery mentioned during a TPC class that he gets probably closer to 100 dry fire trigger pulls for each live fire round he fires.
  8. Since you're asking the question you obviously don't know how to do a trigger job. So, for me PERSONALLY, I don't do my own trigger jobs because I know there are people out there that can do it a hell of a lot better, more reliably, and do it quicker. For me to do the same 1# 12oz trigger job that's smooth as butter would require hours and hours of testing, probably hundreds in parts, and be a massive headache. But there are plenty of people that do their own work, and I'm sure their answer will be to do it your own. The tools aren't that expensive, it's the time it takes to learn how to do it well.
  9. Well if you popped it up, why didn't you reengage it after the transfer? You either continued shooting with improper grip or you trained your weak hand grip to not pressure the safety, which I argued would be a mistake. Imagine if you pop up the strong side thumb safety and then have no weak hand thumb safety... that would be a disaster waiting to happen.
  10. For USPSA, it's a must in my opinion. Shooting weak hand, it not only takes away any risk of the safety popping up ever so slightly to jam the gun (has happened to me), it also gives your thumb a solid and consistent place to grip the gun. Get it installed correctly and there are no issues.
  11. The grip is the main reason I like the gun. I have carried M&P's in years past, because I always hated Glocks. This thing makes me want to get an X-carry. I got it over buying a Shadow because I knew at that point we would be switching to the M17/18 so I thought have a 320 in some form would be good to get familiar with. Other than the grip it's the same as any other polymer gun... trigger needs work. All the extra features like being able to switch FCU's out is pretty pointless to me. bottom line, it's nice for the striker fired production guns, but it's not a joy to shoot or anything.
  12. I went with micro-dot and I like it. I have shot the C-more's and was never a huge fan of it. They work and arguably are more reliable, but the additional height over bore can make a difference I think, and also mess with my index-ing more if I want to switch back to irons. Realistically does it make much of a difference? Probably not really, but I thought the advantages of a micro were worth it,
  13. Ok, so I just replaced the recoil spring, hammer spring, and trigger spring with TTI springs. I believe it had TTI springs but I haven't replaced them since I purchased the gun. One of my buddies suggested the recoil spring was the culprit of the issue for me, and lucky enough I was planning on replacing it anyway. So, before, I was able to artificially create the problem by holding the bolt back and slowly releasing, and it would occasionally catch. I cannot seem to replicate the issue anymore. If it happens again, I will true a Benelli recoil spring as there is currently a reduced power recoil spring in. How many rounds are through your gun, and do you know what recoil spring is in it? I would recommend replacing the carrier spring and recoil spring if it has seen some use. If not, I would refer back to the shell catch and keep searching for solutions to that.
  14. I have a TTI M2, and I occasionally have this issue. It will happen when shooting the gun as well. I am 99% sure it is an issue with the shell catch. The problem is exacerbated by running shorter mag tube springs, but even with an uncut spring it occasionally happens. I found another thread titled "M2 jams" where some people mentioned this being an issue and the fix was the modify the shell catch just slightly and then repolish it, but the pictures had expired so it's hard to see what they were talking about. Currently doing some research on this and will let you know what I find.
  15. Because the only difference between production and that division would be shortening the barrel length. Bottom Line: USPSA is a game, if you want to be super competitive, you are likely not going to use exactly what you carry. There is no way to create a division that adequately confines the equipment to only carry-like guns because that field is ever-changing. Anyone who likes firearms a lot is going to modify their firearms, so the division needs to have some leniency there, so now, once again, we are just talking about production with 4" barrels. By the way, I have used my home defense/winter carry gun as my carry optics gun before, which is a 4.25" M&P Core with extended magazines.
  16. I just wanna go fast! Probably had shot 30 rounds through open guns in the 4 years I've been competing before I got mine haha
  17. Yeah that's what I've heard as well. Any gains have been statistically insignificant. The hundreds of reviews on Amazon are quite mixed, though the negative ones somewhat appear to come from people who have less structured routines. Plus I'm not sure I need another reason to make my training routine more complicated, i.e. adding a 20 minute priming session before I get my reps in.
  18. Wondering if anyone on the forum is using this system? I see JJ, Max, and Shane using it, but for us non-full time folks, is anyone using it and happy with the results? I'm wondering if the time I devote to shooting each day (probably an average of 20-30 minutes dry-firing) will be enough to notice any results on this thing. It's expensive, yes, but I've got stuff lying around that I can pawn off to fund it. And ultimately, I want to finish really well at Nationals this year, so anything I can do that doesn't massively alter the other requirements I have in my life, I'm willing to look into.
  19. I have been running a Bladetech WRS since '13. I will never run a holster with no active retention. I've seen too many guns come out. I've modified the bladetech to try and be as fast as possible but the retention system isn't not the smoothest or easiest to disengage so I'm thinking about trying the GLS.
  20. It's 2.5 MOA at 5 yards and 2.5 MOA at 100 yards, the dot size doesn't change. Brightness may change what you initially perceive as size, but it is in fact the same size. BTW, 2.5 MOA at 5 yards = roughly .13-ish inches at 5 yards, and would be about .2.6-ish inches at 100 yards.
  21. The political situation is not conducive to growing 3-gun right now unfortunately. TV Networks shut them down, and/or charged too much, then social media made it nearly impossible to promote shooting sports, and to top it all off, they have not ran their business well. I first heard 3 gun nation was going to fold three years ago now... they're still going but it's hard to argue they are going strong. Clubs are abandoning 3GN affiliation left and right and their major match attendance is suffering tremendously.
  22. Exciting news! Industry support has been INSANE so far. Take a look at all of the companies that have come on board to help outfit the RO's, support the match, and provide an incredible prize table! Thank you so much. 23. Exactly the reason I think PCC should not apply to the +-1 class rule.
  24. For a guy, I have decently small hands. I use the Evo grip and like it a lot.
  25. Atlas just released their line of tuned magazines. Prices aren't too bad, equivalent to MBX prices. The tuned mag that came with my gun gives me more warm and fuzzies over the MBX, though they do run well. The one MBX magazine that had some issues is getting replaced by MBX free of charge. Great service! Point is... it's a good option.
