  1. Those do look pretty nice. The V1 looks to be the ticket. I like the price of the VO-E but I'm guessing it wouldn't allow the barrel to cool as fast as the other model. Might keep that in mind for a hunting build though. I was also looking at the Nordic 15" tube sytle rail but noticed it's about 5oz heavier.
  2. I am looking for a slim handguard that is 15" long (would settle for a 13" if it was a great deal). I don't really need any mounting devices as I will be running it bare. Right now my rifle has one of the PSA Free Float rails you get on the barreled uppers on it, I like the size of it but wouldn't be opposed to something slightly larger. I can measure if needed.
  3. I am working on slowly putting together a new upper for 3gun next year. This will be my first upper build, have already built a lower. I mainly shoot smaller bay matches with only a handful of shots out to 200. I might try Rockcastle or another big match in 2019 but we'll see. Still going back and forth between a 16" Mid or 17.7"/18" Rifle Length. Primarily looking at Ballistic Advantage barrels. Anyways I am trying to find a clamp on style adjustable gas block (for easier installation and to make it more rugged) and need a 13"/15" handguard suggestion that will pair up well. I know a lot of the lower profile handguards have clearance issues. I am not looking to spend a fortune but am looking for quality parts at a reasonable price. Thanks
  4. I only wear cheapo ear plugs while shooting. I have a set of Howard Leight muffs but they get in the way of shouldering my rifle properly. Only use them for USPSA when it's cooler now. I guess my ears must be pretty bad already as I don't notice the blast when shooting, have a 16" with a Miculek brake on it. I am interested in getting some of the custom molded ones either DIY or having someone do them for me.
  5. Looking forward to this match and the 2-Gun...I gotta get in on that.
  6. Thanks Guys, I will try picking up a few boxes of Gun Clubs to confirm and then buy them by the flat. I was hoping to use different colored shells for my birdshot vs slugs (I am using the full power Remington Sluggers atm). But would like to try out some Fiochhi's, I haven't had good luck with other low recoil slugs from Remington or Federal. They either don't hit the broad side of a barn or don't cycle. But I guess I can find something that will work. Only one of the matches I shoot currently ever uses slugs, the other one is strictly bird shot.
  7. Question for you guys, I shot 3gun on both days this weekend. I mistakenly tried to run the Federal Field and Clay Loads (I think thats what it's called, Walmart bulk 4pks) and I had a lot of failures. I had to rack out shells multiple times that were chambered and when I pulled the trigger all I got was a click. Switching to Remington 1oz Game Loads I only had this happen I think once or twice out of about 125 rds. It was happening about once every 10 shots with the Federal. What things should I look into to diagnose the problem? Or is it simply just the ammo?
  8. You don't have to use the button in USPSA however in IDPA they require you to use it.
  9. Sure can, I have both the Service and Tactical in 9mm. I sent my 5" slide off to have some sights put on, I put my Service slide on my Tactical frame so I could use the upgraded trigger and mag release during a practice at my club.
  10. Interesting...when I burn up my 16lbs of Titegroup I'll check it out...should take a couple of years But yes I know TG wasn't helping the situation, but like I said I still got it running Unique. I only have a couple of pistols that see any volume and they both are XD's so I'm kinda stuck there. My Kahr CM9 leads but only a little bit, I can hit it with a brass brush after 50-100 rounds and it's clean in a pass or two.
  11. Not a problem, but yes. They would spin freely and make a loud plunk when dropped. The leading was worse with Titegroup but I still got it using Unique. All loaded on Dillon 650 with Lee Dies. I did use a taper crimp die and not the FCD...the FCD was a leading nightmare.
  12. I don't think so. I pulled a bunch of bullets and the coating was still in tact, no marks on the coating from crimp (or lack thereof) and the diameter of the bullets were not changed either. I went through the hassle of measuring a bullet, seating it and using my bullet puller/hammer and they were exactly the same size. Even using .358 diameter bullets didn't cure the problem (definitely was better but still a good bit of leading after 100 rounds). That's why I said efffff it and just decided to eat the extra $100 a year.
  13. I've been all over the map in terms of projectiles in the almost 5 years I've been reloading. Started out Jacketed, then plated, then I started casting my own, got busy switched to coated now back to jacketed. Jacketed - Easy to Load and Accurate Plated - Worked just fine, accurate enough Cast - Smoky, messy, leaded Coated - Leaded both of my XD's bad (tried SNS, Blue and Egglestons) I just switched back to jacketed, I can get 124gr's for 8.5 shipped, no mess, easy to load and accurate. Saving $100 a year to mess with the coated not worth it anymore for me (I shoot around 7k a year). I could save a few bucks going to plated, but at my volume of shooting I'll take the slightly more accurate bullet (even though it likely wouldn't show in my shooting).
  14. Vortex Strike Eagle and Aero SPR mount have been ordered. Should have next week. Hoping to hit the range in a couple weekends to get it sighted in and ready for the first matches in my area in the middle of April. Thanks everyone again for their input.
  15. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have been kicking it back and forth and thinking I'm going to go with the Strike Eagle as I can get one for about $275.00 brand new. So the question is mount, looking at the Burris PEPPER and Aero Ultralight SPR They are both 2" offset and within about $5.00 of one another. Is there another one I should be looking at? Would like to use up some Amazon giftcards I have if possible.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. I am currently looking at the following: Weaver V-3 ~ $170.00 Vortex 1-4 ~ $180.00 Vortex 1-4 Illum ~ $250.00 Vortex Strike Eagle ~ $270.00 (found a deal locally for one new) Millet DMS 1-4 ~ $225.00 Burris Tac30 ~ $275.00 Burris MTAC ~ $325.00 Will have to make up my mind here soon.
  17. Soo...I was moving my Simmons 1.5-5x from one AR upper to my new one Saturday morning in a hurry....it dropped from waist height onto my concrete basement floor....bent the front of it up a bit. I decided to give it a shot at the range that same morning as I had to go do some other testing anyways....well none the less it appears I killed it. I bummed a laser bore sighter from a guy at the range and still couldn't manage to hit a 12x12" target at 25 yards after using it. I was looking to replace it after this year anyways...but not to happy. Sooo I'm looking for a new scope unfortunately in the $300 or less range. ($350ish or so with mount). Looking at Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x? Save a few bucks and get the Vortex 1-4? The couple ranges I shoot 3gun at max out around 100 yards, had I not just put a +8 tube on my M3k I'd consider shooting Factory with a red dot. Any other scopes that have a good warranty and decent glass I should be looking at?
  18. Interesting...I had heard pretty good things about those Matrix handguards over on another forum and the reviews on JoeBob's are pretty solid. Was considering using one for a semi budget 3gun upper build myself.
  19. I ran my new M3K through it's paces on Saturday to get it broken in some. It was about 30* F and about 15* with the windchill. Ran 250 rounds through it with only a few stoppages pulling the trigger as fast as I could empty the 12 round tube. I think 3 out of the 5 malfunctions I had were user related as I don't think I was shouldering the gun as hard as I should have been. Another was from 2.75 dram Rio's that I think were just too light. The last one just didn't feed right and the shell went into the chamber as a weird angle and got caught hitting the bottom of the chamber. I was able to rack it back and it slide into the chamber and fired fine. 100 rounds - Remington 3.25 Dram 1oz Game Loads 50 rounds - Winchester 3.25 Dram 1 1/8 Game Loads 50 rounds - Federal 3 Dram 1 1/8 Promo/Top Gun Loads 25 rounds - Estate 3 Dram 1 1/8 Loads 25 rounds - Rio 2.75 Dram 1oz Loads Needs to say I was pretty impressed, my shoulder was a lil stiff the next morning but not multicolored. All the extra clothes being so damn cold probably helped. Hopefully going to be able to test some slug loads out in the next couple of weeks which at that point the gun should be fully broken in.
  20. Mine stay in safe. The only thing I may do is load up my range bag the night before a match so I don't have a half asleep moment and forget my gun.
  21. Are there any videos on installing the MOA disconnector? I just ordered my M3K today and did an order to MOA for a tube, follower and disconnector. Thanks
  22. Thanks! Just ordered my M3K. Will be ordering tube and accessories later.
  23. Looking to order an M3k soon as well as an extension tube. Looking at the +8 for a total of 12+1. Could anyone tell me the overall length of the shotgun with a tube of this length installed? I want to be sure it will fit in my safe with no issues. Thanks
