  1. If you have a load that is inconsistent, then no amount of testing in different temps is going to prove anything. I also am sure that certain combinations will also differ. You have to have the same load done at the same time and shot at least 10-20 rounds to have a decent average. Then you can save some of that load and test on a hot/cold day. I also warm up my gun by shooting from 20-30 rounds just to have a 'warmed-up' barrel. Then the chrono begins.
  2. That's why this post, hope to get consensus on what ammo does and does not and to what degree...
  3. Would like chrono results on temperature sensitivity on the following powders: E-3, Claydot, Clays Vitn320 all in 40 cal. Seems like e-3 and Claydot did not show any for me, interested in hearing from other reloaders.. Thanks.......... PS I have read conflicting reports on Clays and Vitn320..
  4. Start with 3.6 e3. Depending on AOL. 3.7-3.8 at 1.208 makes major in my 5.4 sight tracker with blue bullets. FMJ will take more powder..
  5. What convinced to go with Blue Bullets is twofold, first one of SV GM shooters introduced me to them, but what really convinced me was when it bounced off a steel plate and 90+% of the coating was intact except at the lead 'splits'. I have shot approx. 10k and have been very pleased, little or no smoke, accurate and no residue in the barrel.
  6. I have one in my SV and am putting the same one in my Edge...
  7. How did you polish the inside of the insert, and what did you use????? Thanks...
  8. Polish the inside of the funnel, are you talking about taking off the plastic powder holder and polish the funnel that it attached to? What about the insert that goes in the die that the powder drops thru??? Thanks..
  9. If you are looking for good value, no smell, try Blue Bullets. Been shooting these for about 10k rounds no problems, group well and clean barrel. Work great in my 40 cal. Sight Tracker AET barrel. Also used in my 45acp and 9mm.
  10. Are Winchester large pistol primers also for magnum loads (dual purpose), don't know if this is the cause...
  11. Is anyone using Blue bullets 9mm 147gr. in their accu-shadow ????
  12. Except for the factory extended, is there any extended that will fit the SV with the signature grip ???
  13. ZZT, correct me I am wrong, but don't the Winchester large pistol primers say for standard AND magnum loads? My velocity increased 30 fps with Winchesters large pistol primers, I never had any small, but they may be for standard loads only, adding to the difference in velocity ???????
  14. I noticed a small decrease in velocity with the small primers in 45acp. Good advice to double check with chrono before you load 1000s...
  15. Best place to get 100 shipped to Northern Virginia??
  16. .401 will not feed reliably in my AET barrel. I use Blue Bullets .400/200gr. AOL 1.208 avg., .420 crimp. Gauge properly in my shockbottle (40L) and plunk and spin in my chamber. One large hole accuracy, but shoot left vs. Federal factory 180gr which shoots right. Sights set for the Blue Bullets, no dirty barrel, only blue dust on my fingers during reloading..
  17. From what I have read (internet) ISMI rating on their package seems high so a Wolf may feel heavier for the same ADVERTIZED weight. Except for you, I have not heard much about the Sprincos, it seems like they have been around a very long time but don't seem that popular. I do like the tubes. I may try a 12 wolf variable just as a test. Thanks.....
  18. Thanks RangerTrace for your reply. Is anyone with this gun using the Wolf variable 12lb. Is the variable claim just advertising or is it "better" ?
  19. You could try moving the front site a little to help compensate if possible..
  20. SVI now makes an Ultra Short Flat.....
  21. I use a wooden dowel of the same diameter or as close as possible. I also use a drilled out piece of brass as the stop. In addition, I glue the brass to the dowel to activate the alarm when there is the same amount of primers as there is left in the tube of the automatic brass feeder. I then shut off the case feeder and remove the dowel rod. So, the primers run out the same time the brass runs out. You have to experiment with each caliber you load to get it right. I have 1 each for 40, 9 and 45.....
  22. If you push the other end down against the spring tension you can easily remove the clip. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BALL UNDERNEATH THE PLATE....
  23. Kelly, more common than you think, especially if the grip was reduced in size, then stippled. The sear spring for the new PARA PRO CUSTOMs 2011 are longer and that may solve issue. Worth a try before you spend big bucks. No, I do not have one.
