  1. I have a dedicated CMMG lower, 9mm, and a RR 9mm upper, 16" barrel. My load is xtreme plated 147gr bullet. 3.2 grains of Titegroup, Federal spp, 1.140 overall length. I average 900fps with this load out of the rifle and about 870fps out of my glock 34. This is my go-to gun for the steel matches here run by the uspsa club that allows pistol caliber carbines. Never an issue.
  2. you can see how the gopro hero3 looks from both head cam and on a tripod from the videos on my page. i have the white edition and run the video in the 48fps mode. i'm on my 4th gopro in as many years and would recommend it with zero reservations. videos here!
  3. i ended up just pulling the bullets and taking the primers out of the press and hand placing my primed cases in at that stage and just re-seated them and ran them through the rest of the stages. totally fixed them and i dont have to wonder. thanks!
  4. ok then, another newbie question in the same vein. so i have about 6 rounds, primed, powder charged, crimped and everything. but for various reasons they need to be "done over" as well. so i pull the bullet with the hammer (im buying one this morning) then dump the powder out. now i have a case with a primer in it. can i just dump this back into my case feeder? (dillon 1050) or am i at a high risk of igniting a primer doing this?

    CZ-75B magazines

i apologize for my ignorance. i always hear soo much complaining about CA that i never expected another place to be worse. i have 6 mags coming for my 75b i just ordered, so we'll see how they all work.

    CZ-75B magazines

I life in Kalifornia and have for over a decade. Honestly, when have you ever had the capacity of one of your mags questioned by someone in authority? If it hasn't happened to people here then I doubt it's really happening anywhere. Sorry for the thread drift. I have a 75b on the way so can't wait to shoot it.
  7. 11# or 13# ismi spring on a jagger ss rod. 147gr round nose plated extreme over 3.3 of titegroup at 890fps. glock 34 w barsto barrel
  8. I run the exact same belt holster from Comp-Tac for steel challenge, idpa, uspsa production and 3 gun. Glock 34.

    SIRT pistol

I love my SIRT pistol. I have the plastic slide student version. Though now mine is not at all like when I started. -All of the laser stuff is removed. Metal weight has been added to the gun to make it weigh closer to my G34. No laser=no peeking past the sights. -Yes you can use Glock mags in it. My blue training mag does not fit in the Sirt. But the Sirt weighted mag does fit in my G34. -The absolute biggest positive has come from having the exact same Warren/Sevigny sights on my Sirt as are on my G34. Hands down the best improvement to my shooting in the shortest amount of time. -I have 1/4 and 1/3 IDPA and other targets all over my garage. Makes for awesome training. After you learn to prep the trigger, I see no reason for the dual lasers.
  10. you can't stow mags in your mouth, hold them in your hand while shooting or in a breast pocket. the large pockets at the bottom of vests are expressly there for stowing mags.
  11. I feel ya, I too shot my first special classifier match recently as my first ever uspsa match. I can't wait to shoot another and get rid of that 14% one I am carrying around.
  12. Don't sell them while you're here and you'll be fine. Don't go to a public range and load up 17 rounds and blast them out in 3 seconds and you'll be fine.
  13. if you can look at the gun and it looks different than stock, (talking about the trigger and internal vs external modifications) then esp. if everything about it is inside, you're good to go for ssp.

    Bill Drill times

2.5 to 3.0 for about the past 20 that i've shot. surrender, 7yrds, all A or -0 if idpa target. any points down = failure and no "score". i agree you can learn soo much from bill drills. i was trying to decide tomorrows practice for live fire and now I have. 10 bill drills and then some other stuff.
  15. Practice the classifier for two weeks going into it just so you're familiar. As much as people like to talk about it, it is very rare that someone can actually shoot a Master classifier and not back it up with match performance. It's kinda an IDPA legend if you ask me. If they're keeping score, not matter when it comes out, then my performance relative to someone else absolutely matters. If we didn't keep score, I wouldn't do it. The classifier is a good test of standard pistol skills. You'd do worse by not doing any practice for sure than by repping runs on the classifier. And if you're gonna try to "ace" any part of it, make sure you are spot on for the 3rd stage.
  16. My first time shooting the classifier I shot 0.010 of a second into sharpshooter for esp. When turning it in they asked if I just didn't want it recorded as MM and fudge my score sheet. I said nope, I'd rather be the slowest sharpshooter than the fastest marksman. If you're only shooting locally shoot the classifier as best you can. If you're shooting sanctioned matches you'll either get match bumped or not. The competitive advantage to having a ringer classifier only works one time, so to me it's not worth it. Though I've been called a sandbagger before at a tournament and at the same time I've gone to other major matches and gotten crushed. It all will come out in your shooting.
  17. 3-6 months if you compete 3-4 times a month and do some sort of live or dry fire practice in the week as well. As a sports psychologist told me, "focus on actions, not outcomes."
  18. I took a gen3 21sf and a gen3 34 to the range today. Not paying attention I picked up a loaded 34 mag, seated it in one try into the 21sf, dropped the slide and chambered a round. As I brought the gun up I thought, this doesn't feel like my 34. And sure enough it wasn't! If you'd just asked me, I wouldn't say that a 34 mag would seat successfully into a 21sf. And then I also wouldn't think it would strip and chamber a round. But it did and it does. Thankfully I noticed and didn't pull the trigger. So if you're dragging lots of Glocks to the range, do better than I did at keeping their respective ammo and magazines separate 'cause you never know which ones will work together.
  19. Another pleased Nikon D7000 user. And with the new D7100 the price has gone down on the D7000 body. I bought body only as I had a few lenses from my D3100 and then as time allowed I bought nicer Nikkor lenses for the new body. I love my 50mm 1.3 lens!
  20. For SSP I'd say a Glock 34. Why? Because of their ubiquity. They are the most used pistol for a reason. For ESP I'd say any quality 1911/2011 style 9mm. If I were to build an ESP gun it would be one of Matt Mink's CZ guns though.
  21. I seem to be opposite of everyone here. I use a huge pelican case, that I lock. Inside it is all my clothes and gear and such. Inside it in a locked, hard case is my pistol. I could care less about the bag fees. Two hard cases, two locks.
  22. I have never had my ammo weighed in the dozen or so times i've flown. All of my clothes and gear goes in a huge, locked pelican case. Within that I lock my pistols into a hard locking case. And all my ammo is in a factory ammo box (whether reloads or not) and inside of a plastic ammo can. And I always fly with about 400 rounds of 9mm, which by my scale comes to 12.5lbs with out the packaging and ammo can. If I am traveling for just a weekend, I can get my bag to be less than 50lbs with careful planning and use of my carry on. If I'm gone more than one day then I say 'screw it' and pack that bag full to like 65lbs and just pay the overage fee. I've found that by kinda over-doing it with the multiple locks and hard cases I get much less scrutiny. And the $50 for overweight isn't that big of deal. I've flown my guns and ammo out of San Diego, Little Rock, Vegas, Birmingham, Houston, Phoenix. Some were better than others but all seemed concerned with just two things, that the pistol was locked up and the overall weight of my bag. Again, by being overprepared it puts them at ease, that I'm practiced at this and have my act together. Then they normally do to.
  23. Vest- either the cotton or taclite 5.11 vest. i cut and sew on it to get it how i like. i've tried lots of vests, jackets, work shirts and so on and this is what i'd use unless having a custom one made. Shirt-close fitting cotton t-shirt. occaisonally I wear a wicking style tech t-shirt. normally blue or gray. sometimes i'll wear a totally "off" t-shirt just to throw people, kinda like the nerd glasses mentioned below. Hat-baseball cap of some sort. cammo or tan or whatever i grab. Glasses-Oakley sun glasses if sunny, or ray bans with clear lenses if not. hipster style. Belt-Wilderness tactical 1.5" in the stiffest version. Pants-5.11 taclite pants. belt loops in right spot, no jump pocket and I don't overheat. regular cotton 5.11 pants if cooler out. 5.11 taclite shorts. i did see a new brand i like, kitanica but i don't have the coin right now. Shoes-Saucony or Salomon trail running shoes if outdoors. Differing weights and aggresiveness depending on weather and terrain. high tech wicking socks as well. indoors i wear vans skate shoes as i slide less on concrete in them. Ear pro I use whatever. Hand drying spray or gel as needed if sweaty or rainy. my range bag is also just a regular jansen school backpack. i like for people to give me the once over and mentally say, "who is this guy?" as part of a competitive mind game. wear just enough gun/sponsor/support stuff to make them happy and then add my own style.
