Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Hello - We practice Thursday nights at PMSC - its open to the public, inside if the weather is bad, outdoors if its good. Lots of good shooters / experience.
  2. I don't know how I missed this thread... So to answer a few questions... Yes, the club is on the same side of the city as Pitt, sort of. Assuming Pitt is down town, this is east, but its about a 20 minute drive - only 1 set of tunnels. If you are coming from Ohio you are going to come out the turnpike, the club is right by the exit, Pitt is down the parkway a bit. No funny mag laws here.... Or funny gun laws, unless you consider our castle law funny... Anything specific on lodging or questions feel free to shoot me a PM. I'm not in charge of registration (or anything) but Can probably help get most questions answered - last I heard they were waiving the late fee. I'm shooting on Friday w/the staff, but will be around both Saturday and Sunday taking some video... Feel free to say hi...
  3. My wife is traveling to Fairfax VA for 4-5 days a week over the next few months. Is there anywhere that has weekday practice in that area? Also, is there any magazine restrictions flying into Washington / traveling around VA? Thanks Chris
  4. Also just noticed that their classification also doesn't seem to be correct, everyone is U
  5. SO I am trying this for the first time... I have the stages imported, I have marked the classifier as such However when I go to import scores I get the following error: Score Import aborted - a member number (-1) found in the transfer file is not registered in this match I also notice that everyone is in squad 0, and not in squad 1 where they belong. Any ideas? Thanks
  6. I needed a few parts, called CED, they were able to send me everything I needed.
  7. The region is actually pretty good as far as ranges.... But nothing in Beaver Falls but if you are willing to drive a little, you really can shoot a lot. Clairton has practice on Wednesday Nights during the summer PMSC has practice on Thursday nights all year long, moves inside after it gets cold / dark Hollidaysburg shoots the first Saturday PMSC shoots first Sunday - http://www.pmsconline.com Nothing second Sunday Clairton Third Sunday - http://www.clairtonsc.org East Huntington & Castlewood Fourth Sunday - http://ehpsa.com/wordpress/
  8. He did demonstrate, he moved 1 foot in front of the other, and called that 1 step. My argument is that it is impossible to have a facing up range start if that is intact the rule. But then again the RO also said that I was only permitted to take 1 step, gun holstered or not... Which I don't see a rule for...
  9. I was wondering if some of the more experienced shooters could give me their input on this rule, as I feel its sort of unclear. Had an RO call me on it for the first time last weekend, and I am really not sure they were using it properly. So what happened I was at the line after the Make Ready command, I moved to the very front fault line, pulled out my pistol, and took 3-4 baby steps back (easily could of took the same distance in 1 step, but didn't) moved maybe a total of 2 feet. RO stopped me said I couldn't do that, so I re-holstered my gun, and started to reposition myself again.. Again the RO stopped me and said I couldn't do that. Question One - Does this rule, or any other rule apply to taking more than 1 step while the pistol is holstered? This stage had a “Hands on marks” start, and I wanted to position myself where I could see all targets… On the make ready command, I made my pistol ready, holstered, and started to take several baby steps to find the location of where I could see all targets - I never stepped outside of a range where my hands could no longer reach the marks. Question Two - Definition of the word “Step” the RO believed that this was a movement that involved one foot moving away from the other. For example, if you were square facing down range and moved your left foot back, this is one step. If you move your right foot back to match it this is two steps, and he was claiming this violates 8.7.1. I was under the impression that a step was a distance, i.e. about 3 feet. So if I am moving maybe 1 foot, but take 2-3 steps to do it, I’m fine because I’m still with in the distance of what I would consider a step. If you are only permitted to move 1 foot after the Make Ready command, and there must be a plant foot that doesn't change, while holstered. How could you ever have an up range start without violating this rule? Am I missing a rule somewhere? Thanks!
  10. When I shoot the frame mounted dot I never lose the dot, its very easy to track. When I shoot the slide mounted dot I lose it every shot, I anticipate where its going to appear again, but there is a short period where I lose it. Just put your gun up as is at a target, look at the target, see how easy it is to track your front sight. if you are losing it while its in motion, thats the same effect you are going to have with the slide mounted dot.
  11. What other league does this??!! The nfl didn't with the patriots The UFC doesn't with their suspensions MLB did..... Once congress was involved Maybe you could say there was a timeline for lance Armstrong, but that was more media than it was. TDF.... No one I can think of airs their dirty laundry like you are asking... You hardly ever know who blew the whistle... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I am most disappointed that USPSA chooses BE and Facebook to make announcements rather than the USPSA site and newsletter. Would you of been equally disappointed if they ignored everything on Facebook / doodie, and did nothing until someone filed a formal complaint? MOST people in this thread are talking out of both sides of their mouth here, saying its OK for the complaint to be on Facebook, to demand an investigation based on doodie, but its not ok for the USPSA to respond in the same way.
  13. Congress in the 50's didn't have this kind of technology. If you watch some of the videos, the timer is alarmingly consistent on the stages where the RO isn't in question. I understand the skepticism but it didn't take long for me to be convinced. As a video guy, it was my first concern as well. I went through all the possible ways that video could be "Altered" to change the speed, and then the light bulb went off, this has nothing to do with the video, and everything to do with the audio track associated w/the video. No matter what you do to the frame, the audio track will stay consistent. I pulled the videos down, dropped them into FinalCutPro, and I had the same results within .5 as they had with the software.
  14. There is really no one in Ohio / Michigan / Kentucky / Indiana that has week night practices? Are we just that lucky over here in Pittsburgh?
  15. Something seems off here... I'm at 3gr shooting about 1200fps at 1.08 OAL out of my Shadow I was going to drop down to about 2.5gr and try again, but it just seems like there is hardly any powder at that point. At what point is it too little powder? I feel like 700x doesn't drop well to begin with and I am asking for problems going that light. I also seem well under what the IMR website suggests. Thoughts?
