  1. Depends how old you are, how good the surgeon is, and the nature of the injuries. Tendons heal very slowly because they have no vascular/Blood flow to them. From your report you have a fairly serious injury. Follow there advice. The PT person afterwards is criticial search out a good one. I had the tendon that splits and comes up over shoulder, torn in 2 spots one on each leg. Tears were around 20% and they said no surgery. Could not put my arm behind me. Like reaching into the back seat of car was impossible. I'm coming up on 10 months now and I'm finally making good progress and back to swimming. If you can find a pool and swim as soon a the PT person says your up to it, but don't over do it. Rule with shoulders is, if it hurts don't do it!
  2. Some people are real fussy about the muzzle. so straight down got some complaints. So we did a V type baby mainger, Higher at the rear by using some 2X4's lined with carpet with two sand bags in front. No scratches and bags with catch a AD.
  3. All the things mention help, a good hat, scubba mask no fog works good. However the best thing is no fogging, So a real pair of Aviator style of glasses where the top bar keeps the lenses from getting too close to your head cures the problem. www.sportglasses.com. There changeable lenses frames with adjustable nose piece is the best. I've spent hundreds of dollars all sorts of eye wear and the Decot HyWide is the best. They just don't ever fog, and I mean florida inland where everybody is drenched in sweat from shoulders to ass.
  4. Shoot the barrel, I seen pitted rifle barrels shoot just fine. It will get dirty but use JB bore paste on it. Still got thousands of rounds of life in it.
  5. Since no Activation was specified no penalty. As long as you took one shot at it, no failure to engage, score the target as usually if each target required two hits, and you had none, you get two misses.
  6. I've installed and maintained a state wide network in Florida, with more than 90 sites using all kinds of connectivity. You really can't say ADSL, Cable, is better than the other. It mainly depends on the infrastructure in your neighborhood. What I've seen is, if your near a new homes build out area, the infrastructure will be new the service from both will be good and reliable. Out in boonies it will suck. Best way to find out is if you have two different carriers like cable and DSL order both because you have 30 days to decide. Test them both and get rid of worst.
  7. Biggest problem with AR system is wear at the gas port letting more and more gas in. Real problem with full auto's they keep picking up the rate of fire and component wear goes way up. Adjustable gas blocks are useful, but adjusting the bolt weight, buffer weight, spring weight is tricky. I like to see a discussion on how to balance and adjust them.
  8. The S&W spec sheet says smooth 4-5lb pull. I say that could happen after 4 or 5 thousand rounds through it. If I knew how to take the slide apart on it. It would have been very easy to really slick it up. That safety plunger and hole could be polished, a good face on firing pin would help. If you could get that rear sear out a little stone work there would help also. As far as changing springs, have no idea. Seems the striker spring and safety plunger spring would be places to start.
  9. Well just got one in for a customer. Smith sure didn't spend any time on the trigger. The takeup felt like you were dragging a fingernail across a file, with creepy heavy final stage. Now I'm sure with few thousand rounds it would have smoothed up on it own, I just couldn't let it out the door that way. A few minutes of polishing that transfer bar where pushes up the firing pin release. Same with the relase hook on the firing pin and takeup was smooth with crisp release on the second stage. Anybody else think that funky little catch serves as a disconnect is going to get bent and screw up. Shame on you S&W.
  10. A roll pin punch. Brownells you make one take rod drill hole in that will just hold the roll pin and leave about half sticking out. Now you can line it all up and tap on the rod
  11. Plumbing under the sink isn't very secure anymore with all the plastics. In fact there is nothing very secure except the handicap bars in some bathrooms
  12. Use cable lock to secure place in vehicle where they can't be scene and good car alarm. That will stop a smash and grab. Use battery disconnect to stop the vehicle theft. One fancy alarm i saw will dial phone number.
  13. Mini guns can run an pretty much any speed you want because they are electric driven, controlled round feeding and extraction. The best hit ration comes around 3000 3200 rpm with some tracers to control your fire. Don't remember the ratio of tracers. But the one I'd like to shoot the most is quad electric anti aircraft gun 50 Cal. Your sitting right in middle of all four guns, and brass piles up so fast. Dillion has film of one mounted on truck shooting at night. So much concussion you must be numb after the first salvo.
  14. By Collar ring do you mean barrel nut? Some people locktite them so heat may be required. So people don't do anything and corrosion becomes a real problem. Use the 2X4 thing but put the block of wood right up against the barrel wrench to hold the pins in. If it won't break I us the hot and cold cycle. Soak the barrel from inside the receiver with Kroil etc. Then heat gun it up then into freezer till morning. Then into the blocks. Usually comes out without any trouble.
  15. solar cell to drive a fan under the umbrella
  16. take two 2X4 and clamp them together, then drill hole at the seam that about same size as barrel. Then take some bicycle inner tube and slip it over the barrel then clamp the whole thing in a sturdy bench vise. It will hold a lot torgue.
  17. First off use some quality ammo like Federal/black hills for testing. Before you start clean the snot out of barrels with Jb bore paste and make sure you get the carbon ring right in front of the chamber. Now how can they be so different, Jp probably buys blanks from somebody like douglas. The blanks can vary bore diameter, the best bores taper slightly to the muzzle. You can test this by driving a lead plug through bore to find the loose and tight spots. Next is cutting the chamber, did they really get it aligned to bore, read the procedure Complass lake's Frank White goes through to get this part done right, no automation here. What chamber cutter did they use. Lots of different cutters for .223. Long lead, short, how tight is neck. Depends on bullet weight you want to use. Then crowning, but that really is the easy part. Then break in. So many places to screwup, thats why no two barrels are alike.
  18. buy the sti big release button then grind it to come forward rather than rearward and you'll have the fastest mag release available. Increase the spring pressure a little and you won't have problems with drops
  19. not enough info to tell you how to dry your vault, if you covered the exterior with steel you must remove moisture from the inside. What about the floor? water vapor under the slab?
  20. Old Weller 107 proof Rated as one of best, and not that expensive.
  21. Well I did much better on my first match with my 6". Well see if the trend holds true.
  22. Ok I got my 6 inch done, has the cuts you can see, but inside the slide up near muzzle I reached in through recoil plugs hole and took more metal out there, will try and get better pics. Old 5 inch below it.
  23. Reading this brought up all the old feelings when I held my Rotty, probably the reason I haven't gotten another I get so attached to them. I've lost so many close friends, and pets. I'm beginning to feel like the last man standing. I just hope a close friend is holding me when they put me down!
  24. Shoot both guns in 40 and see what you like. If you want a light gun go with the plastic S_I. If grip on Casp loves your hand buy that. If your not a tinker, just get the gunsmith to build what you want. If you like to fiddle then S_I are better. I'm a little disappointed in the STI slides I've gotten, nothing major, just minor finish problems, different on each one. Might try SVI or Caspian slides. My experience with Caspain and Baer are first rate. Next time I'll try an SVI slide.
