  1. I call ATT to upgrade my phone and plan. My contracts so old it won't let me upgrade online. Says call then number. So after 30 minutes I finally order two new Razor3 and new two year plan. Says in 7/10 days you'll get your phones. Three weeks go by and nothing. So I call wednesday before thanksgiving. An hour on hold and I get a guy who says his name is JESTER SHAW 877 723 7538, says his system is down. You can hear the party in back ground. Please call us on Monday. So I call this morning and I get the Arizona travel bureau!!!!!! Get it JESTER!!!!!!! So I start over this morning, another 35 minutes and my order finally get placed. Also my company gets a 15% discount so I ask for that. They tell me I can't get it on my old plan because it predates the merger. Will only apply to my new plane. This months bill shows up with the discount on it. These super size American companys are sure getting awful. First it was Citibank, they lost there database and I started gettting charges from France, Albania, Kuwait. Now ATT can't figure out what either hand is doing. Thank goodness brownells, doesn't send me to India/Pakistan for support!!!!!!!
  2. I decided to give it a quick finish. This is just Oxyo-Blue. Everything is done except for hole for Bomar. Didn't have a 6X48 tap on hand. Again thanks everybody for help and advice. Especially my Mill guy!!!!!!! He dosesn't like the look of rear holes. However I'm OK with them. Another friend tested the trigger, 2.5lbs Got about $1750.00 in it with 4 mags.
  3. Unless you like building it yourself. Buy something from HP, dells are dying on us fast. Vista is a pain in butt unless everything is new. Drivers for printers, scanners etc don't exist. Vista loves ram 2Gbyte or more . Almost all of the new DVI video cards will drive two DVI or VGA monitors. They have this dongle head that brings out two DVI or two VGA. MAke sure you get the cable you need. Some cheap places leave them out. I'm running two 22inch widescreen dell monitors, downloaded MS virtual PC and run XP on virtual machine over Vista. Bought one of those Espon printer/Scanners for like $75.00 with a coupon/sale. I work for a data center at major University and see all kinds of crap. All version of windows can use CCLeaner.exe. google it, download it use. Makes all machines faster. Plus deletes stuff you wouldn't want people to find on your machine. Defrag after running CC and you notices a significant improvement. If you play with CCleaner. It will remember your favorite web sites and not clean them out.
  4. Thanks for compliments. Stirrup cuts were done with wood dowels 3/8" & 1/2" with sand paper wrapped around it. Slide cut was on a mill with 3/8" two flute end mill with cutting head at 20degrees tilt, cut .060 deep about halfway through the slide at the thin part. Then a 5/16 center drills for rest of the holes front and rear.
  5. Getting close to finishing my 5" fat free. Used a STI tactical slide frame, nowlin bushing barrel, standard recoil spring/plug no guide rod. weighs in at 34oz. Will shoot it in the white for awhile until I'm sure I'm done with it. Thanks to everyone who answered questions and offered advice through the build Wish everyone great Holiday! Edited it today. added pics, also shot it. It is amazing soft in recoil. I also used the short radius firing pin stop idea. Basically any good Idea I agreed with over last year on the forum I incorporated into this gun.
  6. Some folks have cut the slides in rear near the extractor hole. Did you drill all the way through to the other side??????
  7. my gun stuff has consumed way more space than a single closet. IT has taken over a whole room
  8. I'm hoping they hear the case. Especially since we are probably have all democratics and hillary in 08. You know they will all sing a different tune when they have the majority again. I hope one of the houses stays republican. It doesn't work well when either side has free rein.
  9. keep the pics coming. I love it!!!
  10. Yes you have discovered another dumb rule. Because holes drilled in barrel at the end, and screw on comp amount to the same thing. I guess they don't want people porting the barrels further back like poppel holes. But I have yet to see anybody for any reason drill the barrel looking for higher pressures. Maybe because with rifle your looking for recoil reduction on the horizontal plane not vertical.
  11. Ink jets are pain the butt. But it is the only route for photo printing for consumers. I used the HP and Epson. Right now I happier with the Epson. Cheapest way to get the Epson is the on line store. Google for a coupon to get an extra 10% off. Most will need a nozzle cleaning if let set for awhile. Vodka works good if you don't have any 90% Alhohol around. Just order three of the combo scanner printers. With heavy use they usually give up in about 3 years. They just kill ya on cartridges
  12. HyperSnap from www. hyperionics.com. It does everything you need to manage your photo's. Capture screens. annotate, change format, scale, adjust colors. try it for free.
  13. Was reading some old back issues of Front Sight. Read the letters complaining about girls and guns. Anyways I went back and looked at the ad. I want one of those calendars. Seems the web site is gone and I guess no 08 calendar AGH Anybody got old one laying around
  14. The ed brown bevertail is a cast part.
  15. Just put a Swenson my new STI tactical. Yes it required lots of fitting. Since I'm a lefty with fat hands I had to trim the left side otherwise when I squeezed the gun safety popped up. I found it was easy to support the paddles by making contact with frame. I don't believe they will break if well fitted.
  16. Dawson took good care of me on my STI order. even though STI botched it. Dawson stuck with me and made it all right!!!
  17. Sonic care they last a long time, and they are easier on your teeth. Most of us don't follow the rules and brush up and down, we drag them. So the electric's make it easier to do a good job. And you just mindlessly stand there moving around until it stops. In morning that's important.
  18. The bloop tubes they use on NRA high power to extend the sight radius usually add about 6 inches to a 20 inch barrel. Now that is for shooting way out there. But I say that is the practical limit. But do you want a 26 inch barrel????? Even in bolt action 223's I never heard of anybody using anything longer than 24
  19. They keep trying to sell me a new contract. But it is always more expensive. So what's the best/cheapest way to get a new phone? No new contract.
  20. Chrome lining the chamber goes further back than Vietnam. Also doesn't really have to do with cleaning either. The history is that steel cases have be used for a long time. Also combustion byproduct is water vapor. Now picture a hot gun from shooting. There's one in the chamber, it cools vapor condenses and rust the round to the chamber. Next time you shoot you get a failure to extract, and cleaning rod is necessary to get you back in business. Same reason that machines guns fire from open bolt. They don't cook off, and they don't rust in. Also some powders were a little corrosive add the water vapor and poor cleaning habits and pitted bores. So the source of chrome lining chambers is stuck cases. Lining the bores was for corrosive ammo. The stuck cases in m-16 in Nam were more to over pressure, unburn't powder residue poor cleaning habits. So chrome-lining is more of a prevention from neglect than anything else. Military also likes it because it makes barrels last longer with sustained full-auto. Sounds like you want a match grade barrel, chrome-lining it will take all your careful dimensions and make them into guess's. Use Stainless.
  21. Ok here's what I found out after fiddling with it. This if for a STI tactical 5". Slide was too wide to fit the nose cone. Had to relieve it in on sides then nose dropped in OK. Then I took the trigger catch out of the frame to inspect how it locks on the steel frame. Then put it back in the frame and found that the AL frame was hitting on the side STI. So I took some off the radius which covers the trigger. This let the STI go far enough forward to latch. Now with just some adjustment of the plastic nose screw it will work with all my 5 inch 1911's. Becuae I undercut the trigger guard the shim stayed in.
  22. Nope, the space below the locking tabs is too thin to allow front of trigger to click in. Unless I sand it down. It will only latch on my steel frames. Anybody else have this problem. Should I call Safariland.
  23. How do you get a STI with thick front of trigger guard to lock into the Safariland catch. Works fine on metal frames with the thin front strap on trigger guard, but not on STI??? I don't want to buy another holster. Would like common holster for all my 1911's. Just in case anybody out there with a used left rig that fits an STI???? Thanks in Advance
  24. The only thing we are close to getting to work is biodiesel. As soon as they find the right emzyne to crack the oil loose, anything green will work. From lawn clippings, to saw grass, to algea, to seaweed. Nothing beats photosynthesis for efficiency. They are close now using select plants but we need something to break down the cellouse with better so even corn stalks could be used. The proposal I liked was using the cooling water from nuclear plants to grow algea to make biodiesel. Oil companies don't like the idea, because it will end up looking like microbrewing beer industry. No more massive centralized structures. So cars should get smaller, lighter, and run on little diesel engines that smell like fried chicken.
