  1. Nice! I have a flat top colt that uses...colt mags. Its a lot of fun to shoot. The jp wasn't out when I bought it or I might have just bought the jp. I did have a few occasional issues with it in a competition. The extractor hook didn't capture the cartridge rim on a couple occasions. I dismantled the gun and polished and tensioned the extractor (it seemed too tight) and haven't shot it since. I need to take it out again and run some ammo through it.

I have a p 500. It is a very useful tool. I've never needed to use it on any of my CZs. A punch, vice and hammer have always worked fine. But I have had to use it on other handguns where I couldn't get the sights to move using the punch method including on a dan wesson eco and an H & K VP9 among others.
  3. Buy a stock shadow if you can find one and then decide after you get it what mods you want to make. I have an sp 01 shadow custom and a stock 75 shadow. Before tuning, the triggers were pretty close. I've done considerable tuning to both of them including the mods mentioned here. The triggers are now indistinguishable. And the stock shadow is of course a better value.

Chet you don't need to fill the hole when you remove the FPB.
  5. My jp is similar to your spec except it has a psc 11 upper and I run a magpul ubr stock. I had an ace arfx but it never felt right. I have a red dissipator and its got to reduce heat. So many folks are freaky about weight. I'm not. But I also run a CZ sp01 shadow. The rifle is incredible. Its amazingly accurate, reliable and it just feels "right". I couldn't be happier with it. I haven't weighed it-- it did feel a little heavy until I bought an AR10. Now it feels light. go for it, you will love your jp.
  6. Rubber grips here as well. I'd love to see some VZ's with a similar curved shape as the stock rubbers. It's all personal preference in grips, like bicycle saddles or shoes.
  7. I bought a few fobus and they sit in a drawer unused. However, I use my bladetechs all the time. I suggest you spend the money and buy bladetech and also buy a bladetech mag pouch.
  8. I had very good luck with varget on a 650, until I ran out of it. When I spot checked loads they were all within .1 of each other. My 308 loads with H335 and 168 amax are running beautifully and I have much less concern about metering consistency than varget.
  9. If I were you I'd shoot SS in SSP as well. You obviously have the skill set so why would you want to continue to shoot in the lower class?
  10. I am just about out of varget and loaded a batches of 5 round ladder loads with H335 using 168 AMX. I shot 5x5 rounds out of my tikka sporter 24" in 20 minutes and the groups averaged about 5/8" at 100 yards. I need to try the loads at longe ranges but it looks like I'll be using H335 for a while. It seems to work and I have over 20 pounds of it.
  11. Quality not quantity for me. I look into every case before I put in a bullet. I case gauge every round before it gets put into an ammo box. This takes time. I get an occasional oversize round and therefore I virtually never have a malfunction on the range. Including loading primer tubes, filling the powder hopper, loading cases, QC, I probably avarage 250-300 rounds/hour and my loading sessions are usually 1-1.5 hours. If I spend more time at the bench, I can start to lose focus, which is not good. My pace is fast enough for me.
  12. I'm not sure what hammer came on your shadow. Both of my shadows came with competition hammers. In any event, the CGW hammers are fantastic parts but are not legal for competition. Buy a CZC competition hammer. It should take care of your issue.
  13. I've got a P 07 with all the CGW goodies. The trigger is excellent, but different than a tuned shadow trigger. It has a tad more creep and a bit less crisp break. But that's mine, I haven't tried any other tuned delta triggers. And frankly, I didn't do much polishing when I was inside it, I thought I'd wait until I put a new trigger in it, which I haven't done as of yet.

    Sphinx Sub Compact

I've got a sphinx subcompact. I'm a big CZ fan owning more than half a dozen and wanted something smaller than my CZ compact but with a CZ manual of arms. In addition, I'm left handed so I was attracted to the ambi decockers. The sphinx line gets stellar reviews so I thought I would buy one when they became available. In short, it's a fantastic premium grade firearm. The machining, parts, fit, finish, and build quality is as high as anything I've ever seen in a firearm. It oozes quality and precision. It is a piece of mechanical art. While expensive, I feel that the guns are well worth what they cost. The grip feels great. The sights picture is nice although at some point I will try to find a shorter front sight. The gun is extremely accurate and reliable. The decocker function is perfect. I ride the decocker lever when I shoot the gun but have never accidentally activated it. The DA pull is smooth but heavy. The SA pull is very smooth with a short reset. It is about 4.5-4.75 lbs. The gun runs CZ compact mags fine. There are a few negatives. There don't seem to be many holster molds available. I haven't tried very hard but I haven't found a holster maker who will make a specific holster for it. It does fit decently in my sig 228 holsters. They are expensive. I haven't yet found anyone offering springs. I'd like to do a little spring tuning to see if I can drop the pull weights a bit. And the few CZ mainsprings I have tried don't fit having too large of an OD. CGW has a spring kit for the compact but I haven't asked Dave if he plans to offer same for the subcompacts. The subcompacts are very new and seem to just now be trickling into the USA. I'd like to see more aftermarket support. Hopefully, that will occur over time. I'd love to have TT gunleather make me a couple holsters for it. I'd like to install a lower front sight. And I's like to do some spring tuning.
  15. According to the specs.. the VP9 fits the bill... (almost exactly) 4.09" barrel (4.1 is max) 1.32" wide (1.375 is max) I'm wondering if 1.32" is the gun at the widest point, which should be at the slide releases.
  16. The dillon swager is a fantastic tool. It consistently prepares primer pockets uniformly and quickly. I just loaded about 450 rounds of LC 308 and the priming operation went perfect.
  17. I just go a clamp on plug in LED with a flexible wand and clamp it to the case feed tube and shine the light into cases so I can see the powder charge.
  18. You can mke the stock shadow just as nice with a little TLC and a few new parts like sr disconnector, extended firing pin and reduced fp spring, sights, grips, and ensure you have the mainspring and recoil spring you like. My stock 75 shadow with the above has just as nice a trigger as my sp 01 custom shadow.

The BE is an incredible firearm, superbly accurate and with a wonderful trigger.

    Favorite Lube

mobil one and sometimes a bit of grease on the rails.
  22. I have shot an awful lot of precision delta 124 rn over 4.0gr titegroup and cci primers. It seems to work even though I prefer federal primers but they were hard to get for a while.. But I've tried other combinations primarily because of availability. I bought some 7625 when I was running low on titegroup. So far, I've tried 380 with it and it seems to shoot nice. Recently, I just bought some new type of 124 Berry's (I've shot rn in the past and liked them) because I got them for $75/1000. So I experiment a bit and find I am able to work up accurate and reliable loads pretty quickly.
