  1. We have a 16 with a burris xtr 1-4 and an 18 jp with a vortex 1-6. The xtr is quite nice, decent glass, very nice reticle, and my son has shot it out to 400 without complaint. The vortex is absolutely fantastic with superb glass and a very forgiving eyebox. If you can swing the extra money, the 1-6 will keep you happy for a very long time and do everything the pst will do and more.
  2. Magsz you describe your trigger as mushy, which is not normal for a shadow target. What you should feel is pre-travel and then a very crisp break. IMO, a shadow's trigger should be far crisper than a Glocks. Given that you or someone dropped some excellent CGW parts into a shadow target, the trigger shouldn't be mushy, unless something got screwed up. It sounds like you may have incompatibility in the various parts that have been installed in your shadow. It is very hard to say via internet whether a CGW sear will help or not. As I recommended above, the best course of action is to have someone who really knows how to tune CZs have a look at your gun. Or, you could put in a sear and see what you think.
  3. Why not send it back to CZ custom and let them work on it? A shadow custom came from their shop. I have two shadow customs, one is a 75 and the other is an sp 01. They both have excellent and crisp triggers in the 3.5 lb range in sa. They both have SRTS which dramatically reduces pre travel. I had the shop install the one in my 75. I installed the drop in part in the sp 01. The triggers on both of them are very close; the pre travel on the sp 01 with the drop in part may be 1 mm longer.
  4. I just got one of those tricked stainless 75Bs from Stuart. It's very very nice--the shop did a great tuning job-- and meets your definition of best currently available production ready CZ.
  5. I didn't take any pictures when I had the trigger apart. But it will be very intuitive. Just dismantle the trigger and gently bend the 2 legs of the trigger spring so that the spring exerts less tension on the trigger. Then reassemble and measure the pull. I bent the spring legs 10-15 degrees and that dropped the weight nearly a pound when coupled with careful assemble, a little pin polishing and ample lubrication.
  6. Update: I heard back from JP and they recommended ensuring no binding was occurring, that the trigger was properly lubricated, and that slightly bending the trigger spring was an appropriate adjustment. I did all of the above and now have a consistent 3.4 lb pull.
  7. Thanks Mark, i will check out the order sheet, but i'm pretty sure it was spec'd with the reliability enhanced spring package. I ordered a reduced weight spring pac before taking delivery of the rifle and installed the yellow hammer spring myself as soon as i received the rifle as the hammer spring was red. Because the trigger spring was yellow, i didn't mess with it. I might go ahead and install the yellow trigger spring from my pac and see what happens. It's a great rifle, but it needs a lighter trigger.
  8. I have resisted ordering a jp for the past few months on the hope that one would come along spec'd the way I want it. I was fortunate to find an unfired PSC 11, which i picked up from the original buyer. It was spec'd right and I couldn't pass up the chance for immediate gratification. But i have a question about the trigger. It is wonderfully crisp with no take up or overtravel. But the pull weight is a little over 4 lbs and it already has yellow trigger and hammer springs. I'd like to drop it into the low 3 lb range. How can I accomplish this? I fired the rifle yesterday and it is wonderfully accurate and smooth shooting. But the pull weight is a bit too high for me. BTW, I tried to call jp but can't get through. Thus, I thought I'd post the question here. Thanks, Chris
  9. P-07 and compact mags work in my P-07. While 75 mags work in the compact, they don't work in the P-07. Go figure.
  10. I had a Kadet kit and, like you, had to put a heavy main spring in my sp-01 shadow to get reliable ignition. It raised the double action pull substantially. But it also raised the single action pull to near 5 pounds. Because it didn't really simulate the pull on my shadows, I sold it. For .22 practice, I now just use either my tweaked Ruger Mark III (2.7 pound pull) or even more often my tweaked Buckmark (3.4 pound pull) The triggers are much easier to work with than the Kadet.
  11. sorry, the picture attachment function is not working. I'll try again later.
  12. Here is a picture of the compact and the 75 shadow.
  13. I have the srts in my duo tone 75 compact, which I recently acquired, and find the srts terrific. I own a 75 shadow and an sp 01 shadow. They are wonderful guns, my favorite semi auto pistols. When the chance came up to trade a walther for the compact, I jumped. However, stock, it paled in comparison to my shadows. The long, gritty, heavy trigger and poor sights made it difficult to shoot accurately. Thus, I sent the compact to stuart for some work. I wanted a poor man's pro tek with a shadow trigger. Initially, I asked for a comp hammer, trigger job, springs, extended fp, fpb removed, steel guide rod, and some decent night sights. When I found out about the srts, I asked that it be installed too. I got the compact back a few weeks ago and have put 3-400 rounds of everything through it. It shoots beautifully. I couldn't be happier. The long SA reset on the shadows is about the only thing I don't like about them. I'm not great at riding the sear and I have a tendency to slap at the trigger a bit when pushing the pace. The compact now has a trigger pretty close to a good 1911 when shooting SA. The trigger resets to just a bit forward of the release point. I'm going to send my shadows to get the srts installed pretty soon. I'll send them in one at a time so I always have one to shoot.
