  1. Sorry, not so sound dumb, but can you explain? What is RS Competition? It's a shotgun powder by Ramshot. I like it better with the coated bullets than, Bullseye, WST, Clays, e3, and Titegroup.
  2. I used 4.4 with a 230 grain for a 173 PF out of my Trojan. But I was getting slight leading. Switched to Ramshot Competition and the leading went away. Can't say enough good things about the Ramshot Competition powder in .45. Great recoil and very clean. It's like WST on steroids. 4.1 grains gave me 175.9 PF out of Kenny's chrono at Indiana.
  3. I've fit my new EGW safety and love it! They have a sleeve that fits over where the two halts slide together. Seems very solid.
  4. I found I like SS over Open and Limited. At least for now while my vision still allowes me to see the front sights.
  5. I just ordered an EGW machined ambi-safety. Pricey si I hope it's worth it.
  6. I also found the mag release to be too small for me too. Will have to look into options for a replacement. Which is good, cause I do like to tinker with things. The Wilson Oversized Magazine release Stainless is my favorite. $39.00 at Shooters Conection and that's the whole thing, not just a button. May have to do some slight fitting. Here's one on my Trojan. Doesn't get in the way shooting weak hand either.
  7. STI Trojan. Super reliable, great reputation, great customer service, great price and not one malfunction with mine in 14,000 rounds. I like that push recoil the .45 has better than the snap of a .40 too.
  8. I like it! Any feed back on how the optic is holding up? RTS 2 owner here.
  9. Note there is a huge difference between Wolff and ISMI springs. A 13# Wolff is heavier than a 14# ISMI. A 12# Wolff seem almost like a 14# ISMI. And in my experience the Wolff seem to lose their strength faster than the ISMI also.
  10. For 170 PF loads I use a 14# ISMI.
  11. I use to run a 2# trigger all the time. But over time I've learned to grip the gun properly and I find a Just over 3# is perfect. I hear you there. I called DW and ask why in the world would you offer front strap checkering on the 9mm and not the .45???? They said the custom shop could do it.????
  12. Wonder why it's taking Sig so long to release the RX version 320? Guess they will have a reason to hurry up now.
  13. Thanks for the replys guys. It's still just a thought. Until recently I've always been one of those guys who would never even consider owning a 1911 that wasn't a .45. I've shot friends .40 1911's and I don't see any advantage in it over .45. I like the recoil impulse of the .45 better than .40 anyway.
  14. This is actually what my thought is myself. But was thinking for draw and transition practice (With live rounds, not dry fire) it wouldn't matter as the weight of the pistol is almost the same.
  15. Any of you single stack shooters practice with a 9mm 1911 but shoot Major in competition? Not saying only practice with a 9mm, but times when your putting 500-1000 rounds a week down range. Debating if buying a 9mm is worth it over the long haul. Load up some 115's or 124's with a slower powder for a little more recoil impulse. Not 147's with a fast powder. Thoughts?
  16. It's amazing what a couple thousandths will do.
  17. What caliber is your Sentry? Usually the STI's run great. I had a Sig Target Stainless in .45. Very nice gun. I hate the series 80 crap. Took it out and put in the spacer too. Side by side with a STI Trojan I liked the Trojan slightly better.
  18. I love the 226 but I find he trigger breaks to far back. If the trigger was moved forward about 3/8 of an inch it would be perfect for me. I found I shoot the P320 better. And I didn't have to deal with the DA first shot.
  19. I'll be curious of the reliability of this doublestack 45. I've owned a CZ-97 which was a good gun but it just wasn't a 1911. A doublestack 1911 would be cool. IF,.... It is reliable.
  20. https://www.bullets.com/search/?s=category:bullets&s=brand:berry Last I looked they good deals on shipping.
  21. Are they Series 80 like the rest of the Sig 1911's?
  22. Thanks for the info zzt. Like you said I did get faster velocities with with the same load with e3. My Ramshot Competition will be showing up tomorrow. Going to give that a try as well.
  23. Update. After playing with some grip tape on my trigger guard I decided to checker it as well. Not a huge difference but it's another friction point that reminds me to grip the damn gun harder. Tha Caspian trigger is also new. A harder grip forced my trigger finger a little farther into the trigger guard. The longer trigger helps.
