    P226 Legion SAO

So after owning my 226 Legion SAO for a couple weeks and putting almost 900 rounds through it so far, I feel this gun deserves its own thread. Wow! What a spectacular gun! I have owned a P226 DA/SA all stainless and currently have a 229 Legion also. To me the 226 SAO Legion with the flat trigger feels like a totally different gun than the DA/SA 226. With the trigger breaking farther forward and riding the thumb safety seems to make a huge difference with me. My double taps on steel are better than with my CZ SP-01 Shadow Custom. And the weight of the 226 seems perfect. The natural point of aim fits me perfect too. It really kind of sucks this gun is not Production legal. I don't see any huge advantage with the SAO over a 320 or any other striker fired gun that has had trigger work. (On a side note I've put over 10,000 rounds through a FS 320. I like the 226 Legion SAO better.) The only thing I would probably change is the sights. On full targets and steel the X-Ray sights are great. But I feel with my aging eyes a smaller FO front sight would work better for targets with hard cover or no-shoots. Anyone else totally impressed the the P226 Legion SAO. I can only hope that the P320 Target model with the flat trigger and hopefully and added 4 or 5 ounces feels like this gun.

I guess my chances for a P225-A1 Legion SAO are pretty slim. LOL
  3. Yes, they are exceptional quality. I use TG with them, and the smoke isn't a big deal at all, very little. Agreed, I've used a lot of them over TiteGroup for production. No complaints. I shoot SNS 147 FP's over Titegroup. There is some smoke but I have never noticed it during a match. Very popular combination.

After putting 1300 rounds through my 229 Legion I decided to pick up a P226 Legion SAO. I figured as a long time 1911 shooter it might be the ticket for a double stack 9mm. I'm not a fan boy of any gun manufacturer. I just trust a Sig over others. I shoot what I like. Mainly STI, Dan Wesson, CZ, and Sig. But I have to say this Legion 226 SAO could very well turn out to be my favorite handgun ever. And I'm talking stock, semi custom, and full custom. This stock 226 Legion SAO is awesome! Points natural, the weight is perfect (for my taste) trigger is fantastic, (breaks farther forward than the DA/SA) reset very short, thumb safety perfect tension with audible click, sights are dead on and easy to see, the Legion grip rocks, and feels like I'm shooting a .22 with with self-defence ammo. I really look forward to putting more rounds down range. How I wish this would be Production legal. I'll be playing with this gun instead of practicing with my normal Competiton pistols now.
  5. Humm, the SNS 147's with no lube ring fit in both my unmodified SP-01 Shadow barrels at 1.135 OAL no problem.
  6. Yeah, no kidding. As much as I like the P320F I shoot, it sounds like the Target's fixed every little thing I didn't like (aside from maybe the rear sight...) Several sight options should be available. That's the beauty of having that adapter plate. Another fun fact: if you look at the adapter plate you can see that it's angled on the sides. It looks to be dovetailed in like a standard rear sight would be. The Romeo1 itself is also dovetailed so you actually install it from the side like a standard rear sight, and then use the set screws to keep it from drifting back out. https://youtu.be/rusNjd14Y6I Ahhh! They never talk about how much it weighs. I'm hoping its 4 or 5 oz heavier than the P320 fullsize.

    Nice!

I guess it would make sense to have it as a separately ordered part. Some people may never care to put irons on it. Others may like the option of switching between CO and Production. I'd love to have the option of switching back and forth. Hope it's a solid set up.

    Nice!

Good to see. Would have thought the 320 would have been first
  9. Mine was fine with 147's
  10. Never had any problems with the FP's from SNS in any of my 9mm's. And like others said, they leave a nice hole that's easier to see.
  11. The 226 Legion SAO's are hard to find right now.
  12. CZ's are nice guns. I have two SP-01 Shadows. They are great competition guns. Feel very good in the hand. I just don't have the trust in them yet as a carry/self defense gun. The CZ PCR and the P-07 look like nice guns and get rave reviews.

Do they have a replacement safety? Or do they literally shave it? The guy said they literally milled it down equally on both sides. He was trying to get them to take it all off of the right side so it wouldn't affect how easy it was to click it on and off on the left side, but SIG told him that the only internally "approved" method was to take an equal amount off both the left and right. Apparently it's not quite as easy to deactivate now. I've been looking for a SAO for a bit now, but they seem to be fairly hard to get. If I do get a hold of one, I'll probably leave the safety as is. I'm guessing that if I did shoot it at local club IDPA matches, no one would really care even if they did notice. I don't really have the time to shoot sanctioned matches any more anyway. I don't know. Just think of the huge advantage you'll have with that wider safety. I'd like to get a SAO for playing at local Steel matches. I was faster at steel with a 320 than with a heavy CZ.
  14. I still like the DA/SA triggers for a self defence/home defence gun. Gun is ready to go but still safe. And it only takes a second to cock the hammer back if need be too. I agree with TacticalReload in that a lot of poeople don't put the time in to learn a DA/SA trigger. I personally would not put a striker fired gun without a manual safety in a IWB holster. It is a bit strange after firing my stock 229 Legion trigger then go to a 6 1/4# DA/ 2.5# SA trigger on my CZ though. I've never got to look at a 226 SAO. It appears the thumb safety is all in the frame of the gun. Is the slide different than a DA/SA 226?
  15. I agree! I'd buy a P229 Legion SAO today if they had them.
  16. I love my 229 Legion! And the grip is fine with me also. I was just thinking out loud as well after reading tons of reviews and opinions of CZ vs Sig.
  17. 11.5# with extended firing pin runs Magtech and Fiocchi primers as well.

That 226 SAO is very tempting. How do you like yours.
  19. I think so. A totally new line of DA/SA pistols with a new alloy frame the shape of the new P320 Target that is coming out. Let's face it. The new 320 target grip is more CZ like and CZ's feel good in the hand. The top end could stay the same. I love the P-series pistols. Can't think of any other firearm I would trust my life with more. So if you could make that gun a little more ergonomic why not? I read time and time again on forums of people saying they love the reliability of a Sig but the CZ feels better in the hand. So why not give the people what they want? A Sig with a better feeling grip. Thoughts? Of course this is just an opinion.

    SIG Legion Series

Finally picked up a 229 Legion. Very nice gun! Trigger is heavy but smooth. Perfect for what it was designed for. Have 850 flawless rounds of various ammo through it including, factory target, self defence, (Federal HST 147 grain) , and reloads. I really like the x-ray sights. Very easy to track the front sight in the day, and they still glow on your nightstand at night. I'm really impressed with how this gun handles recoil. Or I handle recoil with the gun, what ever. I personally think the high bore axis (at least with a 9mm) argument is baloney. In theory it makes sense but in the hand no way. The only thing I changed was I took out the trigger over travel screw completely. Would have only helped about 1/32" and I don't want the chance of it ever moving to where the gun won't fire. 5 Stars in my book. I forgot to mention the grips are fantastic also.
  21. 3.3 Titegroup under a SNS cast 147FP @ 1.135 is a great load. Worked great out of my P320.
  22. Any word on the weight of the Target 320
  23. I had VZ Dimondbacks on my 1911's. I really can't see the need for more aggressive grip than the LOK's already have. IMO it's more about the shooters grip on the gun. I grip like a vise and the LOK's aren't moving anywhere.
  24. Just got my LOK grips today from Practical Shooting Sports. WOW!! They feel great! Will be getting a second pair for my back up gun for sure. If I had more CZ's I'd put them on all of them too. Jeff and LOK hit a home run with these for sure. I did have to make the grip screw holes slightly bigger, which was no big deal. The holes lined up perfectly. The grips also came with the small O-rings to put under the grip screws. FYI I've tried the thin CZ Custom grips, factory rubber grips, factory plastic grips, the Thick Lemon Grators, and the DAA Thick grips. I've held guns with the VZ's also, but never fired with them.
