  1. Are we discussing pre-travel or reset? My Tanfo's always have reset at about the same spot, but I have seen a lot of difference in how far forward the trigger travels after reset. Playing with grinding away material from the arc of the disco will allow you to increase this excess forward travel (which, when taken up while pulling the trigger is the same as pre-travel) if that is the goal. If you want to change the reset spot, let me know how to do it after you find out . I assume that changing trigger shapes would sort of be against your goal of making both guns as similar as possible. When in doubt I wave the white flag and ask the good folks at Patriot Defense.
  2. Pre-travel, when you release the trigger the arc on the disco determines how far forward the trigger can travel, that extra forward distance becomes pre-travel on the next trigger pull. Overtravel is usually adjusted with the set screw in your trigger. Somebody else will chime in pretty soon, if I understand what you want to do then I did the same thing not long back, will see if I can find the thread where it was explained to me, or maybe one of the gurus will show up here shortly.
  3. Have an old frame stock 2 that seems to be a Monday morning frame. Put a new safety in - single action does not work 70% of the time if you cock the hammer by racking the slide, hammer stays cocked when you pull the trigger - if you bring the hammer to fully back with your thumb and then pull the trigger again the hammer will drop as normal - the bar on the safety that stops the sear when the safety is engaged is not stopping the sear except when it is supposed to & double action works fine - with old safety reinstalled everything works fine also - the shaft of the old safety measures very slightly larger in diameter than the new safety but I suspect that this in normal production tolerance and everything feels right (no detectable slop) when the new safety is installed. Not in a bind because the gun works fine with the old safety and the new safety works fine in a different gun but it seems like something has to be on the edge of not working so I figured I'd see if the brain trust had ever run into something similar. My guess is that when the hammer is in the failed state and then I roll it back the rest of the way with my thumb I'm creating needed motion of either sear to hammer hook interface or bottom leg of sear to trigger bar interface.
  4. https://patriotdefense.com/product/tanfoglio-optimized-bolo-interrupter/ Area red lined as "1", if I understand your question correctly.
  5. Ok. Thanks. Seems sticky at locals where several may take turns with the timer & score pad and you don't even know if you are a match r.o. until somebody on the squad asks you to run a couple shooters because they would like a break. I guess if I walked upon the situation I would just make sure that the r.o. who picked up the gun also ran a couple shooters before the match was over.
  6. Why would anyone get a dq at any match if they do not do anything that the rules say is a dq? I'm missing something here I think, maybe oversimplifying, does not seem like this would even be a question.
  7. Near the end of the video you see Dave tapping mag lips more closed. Kit includes a bar that you insert through the mag & has one end shaped for the mag lips. Disclaimer - have not used one for about 3-4 years (no longer have any STI hi cap mags), best to call Dawson with questions in case I remember incorrectly.
  8. I used to think like that back when I was still in my 50's .
  9. You seem to just want to argue, and I think you must be aware than many SS folks shoot 8 round major.
  10. Somebody just likes to Except for different guns, different weight limit, different holster height, different starting condition, different accessories (magwells), skinny mags, flexibility in round count & power factor and possibly a couple other things I am forgetting, pretty much identical.
  11. Fitting the safety was easy for me. If you consider grind install check a couple or 3 times easy.
  12. The difference that I miss is that you actually do have 2 viable and competitive power factor options in SS. It was fun to switch back and forth a bit, sometimes strictly for fun/something different and sometimes because you perceived that a particular match favored one option or the other.
  13. Well yea, but we pretty much own the world now, so there is that going for us.
  14. Spell checking and yet everyone missed that Yoda would say "give will I". This forum is just really disheartening some days. Wish I had the stomach to read diddly project, but they would have Yoda saying F words and then some kind of sick picture with an animal.
  15. Got around to trying some in Tanfoglio Stock 3 Old load - 147 SNS RN Coated - 1.12 - 3.0 titegroup - range brass Chrono 898,909,907 New load - Identical except 3.2 sport pistol Chrono 908-906-916 Close enough Will check accuracy at a later time. Shooting impressions. Smoke - probably less with SP but with a slight cross wind today I could not tell enough difference for it to be meaningful Recoil - Both loads feel really good, maybe the TG felt a tiny little bit more snappy, my gun is heavy enough that it might hide any minor difference, I saw no advantage either way, could not tell any difference in brass ejection distance, if I had pristine brass instead of range brass I suspect that it would be easier to tell if their was an ejection difference due to the load Reloading Both powders meter well on my 1050. Seemed to need to be a bit smoother on the handle with the SP to keep a grain from coming out of the case likely due to a slightly higher case volume fill, not a big deal. Both were fine. Conclusion - Like both. If I find accuracy is as good or better with SP and that I notice it is cleaner then I will call it the winner.
  16. It is a shooting game, as with many (possibly all) games rules are necessary but often arbitrary. 'Because some of the game players like it that way' is a perfectly valid reason.
  17. Think of it as ESP and SSP and CDP and CCP all rolled in together.
  18. 21.6 Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers, pins, extractors, magazine releases, slide stops, thumb safeties, triggers, hammers, bushings, and ejectors MAY be replaced with OFM or aftermarket parts. Since it is legal to replace a thumb safety with an aftermarket thumb safety I think that Troy would be on the side of saying that you can make your own aftermarket thumb safety. From the 2004 book page 57, "Aftermarket ....... Items not manufactured by, or available directly from, the Original Firearms Manufacturer. (See OFM). " I just can not see a rules problem, but if you want then please send me your safety and $50.00 and I will return an aftermarket safety.
  19. If it was obsolescence, or cost, that drove things there would not be any 45's around by now.
  20. +1 Sooner or later you will spend all day standing in the pouring rain. When everyone else is eating lunch go to the safety table and verify that your barrel is clean and your gun is properly lubed, then check the condition of your mags away from the table, then eat what you brought, then go and walk any remaining stages you have concern about, then just relax.
  21. If they work for you and helped your child with a better fit then that is great! Fit is a really big deal with all hearing protection and head/ear shapes vary widely. I think Sordin created a new reduction measurement means as pure smoke & mirrors & sunshine pumping when they found that their products could not measure up (no pun intended). If their add hype was real (designed specifically for gun shot frequencies) it seems unlikely that they would also be the ticket for tractor pulls. Ear muff sound insulation is not a rocket science thing, Sordins are a relatively thin muff compared to their better rated competitors & there is nothing magic or expensive about the materials used, so they are a little less effective than non-amplifying muffs of the same width (more room for dead air space & insulation materials without electronics) or amplifying muffs of greater width, but again fit is very important. Tractor pulls are fun . Again, I am not saying Sordins are anything but fine as long as you steer clear of extremely loud noises, I still use them sometimes for practicing with my centerfire pistols and r.o.ing as long as I am not near an open pistol or loud rifle.
  22. My 9mm eagle and a friends were a bit honery about feeding reliably, this went away completely after purchase and use of a Dawson mag tuning kit. You may not need it, but for my gun and mag combination it was the difference between a ftf each match and zero issues. I do not understand why they went to a fixed sight on that gun, mine is older and came with adjustable.
  23. For me the Shadow 2 is nose heavy and the grip is redesigned more to accommodate ladies & men with girl hands . Stock 2 fits me best, but I could be very happy with any of the SP01 variants and the price on used is often nice.
  24. It would be interesting to see if brass ejection difference changes noticeably with power factor & recoil spring the same.
