  1. Not exactly a training video like I wish we had, but it shows common mistakes.
  2. Great attitude. A first time shooter made a comment to me at my last match "on you tube I can find all kinds of videos of people shooting matches but couldn't find anything that would help me prepare for shooting a match". I think we are crazy for not having USPSA rules videos and courses. It just would not be that hard or that expensive.
  3. I that was loss of control of the gun well after the draw.
  4. For me this lead to a double action first shot weapon choice. Have not had an incident like this, and do not consider d.a. a sure cure for all potential incidents, but it just feels safer. Thank you for sharing, best wishes.
  5. Just nosy. Which sport allows you to start with hammer back on a stock 2? Maybe just using thumb over safety to help with weak hand only grip?
  6. Any wild rumors, total fabrications, or even potential facts about delivery dates for either Stock 1's or limited pros?
  7. Everybody could do well to read it & and absorb it, in my opinion. Does Brian still sell that here?
  8. Makes perfect sense. The extremes of anything kind of suck. Last summer I shot a stage that had a 25 yard dash followed by a 30 yard dash, and most of the r.o.'s & scorekeepers were over 50. The very fleet of foot were happy though, but I think even they got tired of the hike for pasting.
  9. I have about a 10-15% reject rate on 9mm, using a 100 round gauge from Ben Stoeger pro shop (money well spent even though not cheap). I don't care. The 85% go in the big pile & the 10-15% go into the practice only pile. Can't remember the last time that I had any issues with rounds from either pile. Dies wise, I have the EGW size die as well as the Lee U die, they are both fine but I prefer the former. EGW seems to give the same amount of improvement but with less effort.
  10. I like that as a general rule, but everybody likes the occasional opportunity to do what they excel at. I expect and am fine with seeing the occasional track meet guy stage & the occasional bulls eye shooter stage as well as the occasional head scratcher. What is less fun for me is when you get a whole lot of just one type of stage.
  11. Sometimes you can not even make 1 reasonably clean walk through on a complex stage with multiple options, 5 or more shooting positions and a dozen people trying to go this way and that all at the same time. But in general on an average stage I think you are correct.
  12. On very rare occasions when that happens I say something about it and then that fixes it.
  13. On a complex memory stage with a big squad it can be a big deal, particularly for those shooters who did not have the option of spending good quality time planning the stage before the match. Often courtesy is shown to the person who will be first, but not always. I guess if it was me and I could not prepare I would tell the r.o. I was not ready and ask to be dropped down the order.
  14. You treat everyone the same, we all eat the entry fee(s) or nobody eats the fee(s).
  15. It is a Tanfo, no matter what you do everyone will think it came that way from the factory. The mag opening on my 40 stock 2 looked like the gun was cast during an earthquake.
  16. If I understood Andyk correctly he inquired if his match fee (entry) could be used to allow his daughter to shoot, which is the same as getting a cash refund and applying it to another shooter. Maybe I misunderstood .
  17. I think of it as a training tool and a means of protection. As an r.o. I am not in the punishment business.
  18. I think the MD's obligation would be in following the rules and treating everyone equal. To the best of my knowledge the rules do not allow a cash refund or ,friend-family-somebody who will pay you for the entry, reassignment option for the second entry.
  19. That is the way I read it also, fair question, was responding to some of the negative commentary which may or may not be warranted. Else, I do not pretend to know how to build a gun.
  20. Well . . . . Tanfo outsmarted me, again. Installed bolo a few weeks back - s.a. seemed right - just a bit of pre-travel like I prefer so I figured the bolo arc was just fine - d.a. travel was short but set off my federals ok - figured I'd shoot 1000 rounds or so & then get the bolo tweaked to fix the d.a. . Upon shortening bolo I could not do squat to get hammer travel where it ought to be - eventually shortened past the point of "this can't be right" & started looking elsewhere. I have no idea why the single action felt right before - or why the d.a. worked at all - but eventually figured out I needed to take more material out of the arc on the bolo as it was not able to drop down enough for the wing to get behind the trigger bar . Now everything feels exactly right & d.a. is fine (new bolo & height not changed only took a bit off arc) , s.a. feels pretty much exactly the same except I have a smidge less pre-travel.
  21. That is what I was thinking. Before publicly ragging on any vendor they should get a chance to comment. Could be that the typical customer does not want to pay for more finish work that will be wasted anyway.
  22. Probably worth asking them if and why they think it is ok before getting upset about it.
  23. A warning for a soft sweep (say something during load and make ready that seemed pretty harmless) and a warning for a hard sweep as well (somebody with a 1.5-2lb trigger brings the gun fully across his weak arm while moving and opening a door as fast as he can during a stage & as an r.o. it scares the snot out of you)? If different penalties for high risk sweep versus low risk sweep is there a way to write the rules so they are crystal clear? Other thing, as r.o. I've been the recipient of a high risk sweep to my center mass a couple of times (when it happens it seems like it is always a 45 that looks like a frigging cannon barrel), if I could not have dq'd the person I would have gone home myself.
  24. Appendix D7 - 13 Optical/electronic sights REQUIRED; must be attached directly to slide between rear of slide and ejection port, and may not be mounted to the frame in any way
