  1. Appendix D7 - 13 Optical/electronic sights REQUIRED; must be attached directly to slide between rear of slide and ejection port, and may not be mounted to the frame in any way
  2. Everybody has things they do or do not like. For me reloading is a fundamental gun skill and a fun part of the overall challenge. My don't like is when a match seem to put greater emphasis on track meet skills than gun skills. That said. Limited time, you need to choose a gun type and go with it, and significant investment, by the time you have gamer gun, gamer gun rig, gamer gun accessories, sensible spares, you can be at around $2000 .
  3. If the speed limit on a curve is 55 but you can likely do it at 70 before risk starts becoming high, then it is rational for an officer to say ok he was only doing 62 & that it is not a worry so I will use my common sense and allow him to continue, and it is rational for a different officer to say ok he was speeding on that curve and that is a worry so I will use my common sense and give him a ticket so he does not create an accident in the future. Common sense is a matter of philosophy sometimes.
  4. I think you folks have probably got me pointed in the right direction. Thank you! Life is going to get in the way of working on the gun for the next few days. Will explore as you have noted & come back with what I see.
  5. Anyone had to go shorter than 0.4385 ? I am there with one gun and it appears that I need to go farther based on how far the hammer is going back I think my measurement is good, I get 0.4650 with an unmolested PD disco, and I think I am doing things right - 1 gun seemed great with no modification of the disco and the other 2 seemed great at about 0.4520 - pre-travel indicates that I do not need to remove any more material from the arc of the disco. The gun is working with federals so I am not in a rush, figured I'd check the brain trust to see if going shorter than 0.4385 seems reasonable before maybe wasting time and money. Could call PD again but hate to take up any more of their time if the answer is 'yea it happens sometimes'. Also thought it would be interesting to know the max that anyone has needed to remove.
  6. Don't worry be happy, I like that folks want to make sure that the rules are used as intended even though discussions get tedious.
  7. I forget the guys name, he is a well known range master & it was at a level 2 match, he said he thought it was a dumb practice but that it had been cussed and discussed previously and that it was allowed. The safety was off while the guy was cocking the gun in the holster, if he would have taken the gun out & then applied the safety & then reholstered so he could dry fire I do not think that would have raised any flags with me. Same match there was a bit of horseplay where one shooter thought it was cute to cock the hammer back on another guys gun so he would have to make a trip to the safety table. Again there was a higher power present (my stage cro), I had no use for it but apparently it is not a dq either.
  8. I think it is as easy as realizing that loading is not necessarily a continuous process. Mag in gun empty chamber starts is a fairly common example. You start loading, then you go about your business doing something else & then after the beep you finish loading. With a d.a. production gun & on classifiers I often like to dry fire & practice inserting mag & then take another snap or two when I'm back to target. Doubt that it helps me but it seems to irritate some of the s.a.o. people who can't do it so it is time well spent. The first time I saw one of the locked and cocked crowd push his hammer back while holstered so he could draw/snap I had to ask a higher power if that was legal. Makes me nervous because he is the only one who knows if the chamber is clear when he pulls the hammer back on a holstered gun.
  9. Are we discussing pre-travel or reset? My Tanfo's always have reset at about the same spot, but I have seen a lot of difference in how far forward the trigger travels after reset. Playing with grinding away material from the arc of the disco will allow you to increase this excess forward travel (which, when taken up while pulling the trigger is the same as pre-travel) if that is the goal. If you want to change the reset spot, let me know how to do it after you find out . I assume that changing trigger shapes would sort of be against your goal of making both guns as similar as possible. When in doubt I wave the white flag and ask the good folks at Patriot Defense.
  10. Pre-travel, when you release the trigger the arc on the disco determines how far forward the trigger can travel, that extra forward distance becomes pre-travel on the next trigger pull. Overtravel is usually adjusted with the set screw in your trigger. Somebody else will chime in pretty soon, if I understand what you want to do then I did the same thing not long back, will see if I can find the thread where it was explained to me, or maybe one of the gurus will show up here shortly.
  11. Have an old frame stock 2 that seems to be a Monday morning frame. Put a new safety in - single action does not work 70% of the time if you cock the hammer by racking the slide, hammer stays cocked when you pull the trigger - if you bring the hammer to fully back with your thumb and then pull the trigger again the hammer will drop as normal - the bar on the safety that stops the sear when the safety is engaged is not stopping the sear except when it is supposed to & double action works fine - with old safety reinstalled everything works fine also - the shaft of the old safety measures very slightly larger in diameter than the new safety but I suspect that this in normal production tolerance and everything feels right (no detectable slop) when the new safety is installed. Not in a bind because the gun works fine with the old safety and the new safety works fine in a different gun but it seems like something has to be on the edge of not working so I figured I'd see if the brain trust had ever run into something similar. My guess is that when the hammer is in the failed state and then I roll it back the rest of the way with my thumb I'm creating needed motion of either sear to hammer hook interface or bottom leg of sear to trigger bar interface.
  12. https://patriotdefense.com/product/tanfoglio-optimized-bolo-interrupter/ Area red lined as "1", if I understand your question correctly.
  13. Ok. Thanks. Seems sticky at locals where several may take turns with the timer & score pad and you don't even know if you are a match r.o. until somebody on the squad asks you to run a couple shooters because they would like a break. I guess if I walked upon the situation I would just make sure that the r.o. who picked up the gun also ran a couple shooters before the match was over.
  14. Why would anyone get a dq at any match if they do not do anything that the rules say is a dq? I'm missing something here I think, maybe oversimplifying, does not seem like this would even be a question.
  15. Near the end of the video you see Dave tapping mag lips more closed. Kit includes a bar that you insert through the mag & has one end shaped for the mag lips. Disclaimer - have not used one for about 3-4 years (no longer have any STI hi cap mags), best to call Dawson with questions in case I remember incorrectly.
  16. I used to think like that back when I was still in my 50's .
  17. You seem to just want to argue, and I think you must be aware than many SS folks shoot 8 round major.
  18. Somebody just likes to Except for different guns, different weight limit, different holster height, different starting condition, different accessories (magwells), skinny mags, flexibility in round count & power factor and possibly a couple other things I am forgetting, pretty much identical.
  19. Fitting the safety was easy for me. If you consider grind install check a couple or 3 times easy.
  20. The difference that I miss is that you actually do have 2 viable and competitive power factor options in SS. It was fun to switch back and forth a bit, sometimes strictly for fun/something different and sometimes because you perceived that a particular match favored one option or the other.
  21. Well yea, but we pretty much own the world now, so there is that going for us.
  22. Spell checking and yet everyone missed that Yoda would say "give will I". This forum is just really disheartening some days. Wish I had the stomach to read diddly project, but they would have Yoda saying F words and then some kind of sick picture with an animal.
