  1. When I looked at pricing I could not justify getting a 650 & then adding a case feeder, a 1050 was just not that much more. Both are great but it is in my will to be buried with my 1050, just in case. It is worth selling a gun to get a Mr. Bullet feeder. When I load now my left hand is on the case feeder stabilizing both me and the press, my eye is on the powder charge in the case under the bullet dropper, the only thing that moves is my right arm and I'm focused on just a smooth and machine consistency like stroke.
  2. If you shoot for fun limited minor is a great idea, cheaper ammo, higher capacity mags, less recoil. If I was going to do that I'd probably get a CZ TS or TSO, no good reason just personal preference, there are many new and used guns that would suit nicely at price points ranging from happy wife to hostile divorce. If you are anxious to get the best score you can in USPSA, see other posts.
  3. No disagreement, the next question is which is better. Are you personally better off with a 2011 for the added weight and recoil control or a Glock for the reduced weight and quicker handling? Seems like some of this stuff is sort of a fad rather than a known quantity. But, shooting whatever you like best makes a great deal of sense to me.
  4. Seems like Vogel wins limited class with basically a Stock Glock?
  5. Or preventing steels from falling if the wind is coming from behind them and you are shooting 9mm. Wonder what the rule is about paper targets moved by wind gusts interfering with a shooter? R.o. Judgment call? Some days it seems like an equal disadvantage for all and then other days there will be that one or two unlucky persons who runs the stage while there is an unusual large gust.

    SP-01 OAL Issues

Probably the reason that hurricanes love it.
  7. I agree with you. I just think we have a system that is not going to work as well as it should as long as we continue to be the USPSA cave people. At a point in time it made sense for the clan to gather around a fire and hear stories from the tribal elder but we have better means available now. We have got good teachers but I don't think anyone could do that good of a job with the tools we give them. Valid comments from others suggesting that more modern means might be better as a supplement to what we have then a replacement.
  8. Makes a CZ a real bargain when you consider the money it takes to make a Tanfo trigger nice. If I decide I want something IDPA legal I guess I will go back to something based on the SP01 if the Tanfo pricing stays that high.
  9. Other locations may be more fortunate. The closest r.o. course that was available to me required 3 hrs on the road Sat and Sun or staying at a hotel & just 3 hours drive total, that course has only been available that close 1 time in memory. A cro course was available last year that was 3.5 hours away, that is the only cro course offered that close that I can remember. Besides losing the weekend & hating the boring drive I would have been out around $200 for gas-food-lodging-course fee. Point being that it is not just a long day in class, which "After 5 hours its wasted on probably most people" plus a short day in class plus a class fee. Add in transportation & lodging & meals for many, plus usually a long wait to find something offered within a reasonable distance.
  10. Any rumors on pricing? There are 3 IFG Stock 1's on gun broker right now all priced $125 - 150 over what they are listed at on PD and BS & etc websites (not in stock). Snooping around a bit it sounds like the price bump is coming prior to the dealers. Am wondering if IFG works on a low volume high profit business model, they seem to be focused on high end stuff aside from the Tanfo's.
  11. In my next life I am going to order a Les Baer Premier 2 in 40, always wanted to but didn't want to deal with the cost and lead time.
  12. Load one mag with dummy rounds. Drop empty mag, reload with loaded mag, put loaded mag back on belt & another empty mag in gun. A little less stress on the mags & a little less hassle and when I drop mags they are normally near empty so possibly more realistic. Make sure that I check clear after dry firing with empties. A match dq involving a dummy round left in chamber would really really suck.

    SP-01 OAL Issues

Which is a lot faster & cheaper lower hassle than it might sound like if someone has not gone that route. Patriot Defense did a Tanfo for me for $25.00 plus shipping with very quick turn around, not sure who all does CZ's but seems like I've read there are several good places to send a barrel. Have not read where anyone had any reliability or accuracy regrets after getting the work done. That said, I never reamed any of my CZ's. Just used a bullet with a more CZ friendly profile (Ogive if you are French), SNS 147 flat points at 1.15 oal worked well for me, loading that particular bullet shorter created issues with the occasional ftf.
  14. I know what you are saying, but there are likely anti 2a groups in every state (at a match I attended last year in a very pro 2a state some fine citizen got up early and spread a few pounds of nails across the range entrance road) so it is playing the odds wherever you are at.
  15. With 9 minor and range brass I will pick up split cases occasionally after a practice session. Does not seem to be something to worry about, can't say for sure if all of them split when I fired or if some of them were split before.
  16. Hmm, so a trainer may a mistake, but since it was documented on computer it was possible for the mistake to be caught and corrected rather than somebody repeating the same mistake over and over. Interesting. (When I wrote I was leaving this I didn't know you were winding up for a hanging high curve ball).
  17. I guess I'll leave this at I figure if we are not willing to catch up with the rest of the world, or at least try, then we should not be blaming the students. Our mileage may vary.
  18. Apparently they are not doing a good job teaching their r.o.'s though. ?
  19. But something any r.o. could take care of at a local range. Have fairly recently had to; 1. Complete + - 8 corporation specific safety training modules, all via computer & all with verification tests. 2. Attend bi-annual emergency response training (CPR, blood born pathogens, all that kind of stuff). 3. Attend Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils Inc training refresher. All that stuff was largely or completely video based. There was need for a human to be present for stuff like witnessing students do the wild thing with cpr dummies, but for consistent explanation of stuff video rocks.
  20. Which is why good training videos often incorporate the best of questions heard over time. Which is why you put it on the video and let everybody hear the same explanation, rather than what the instructor thinks of on that day, or, more commonly discussed, the particular instructors slant on things at that particular point in time.
  21. I think we (USPSA) are a bunch of complete retards for not having 90%+ of the r.o. course on electronic medium. That is not a snark at you or anyone else, and I am a broken record on the issue, but geez, it is 2018 and we suffer & moan over easy communication things that the rest of the world fixes with a cell phone & an upload to u-tube.

It is USPSA production legal with the 2018 production class rules changes, you are referring to IPSC or IDPA?
  24. In this case I'm very surprised that the first squad it happened to didn't press the issue and get the rm involved. Maybe they did & the rm backed the ro ?
