Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Which gun would you buy for Limited? STI Edge or STI Apeiro? I see STI has stopped taking orders for the Apeiro, any reason why? Does this answer my question? Buy an Edge because the Apeiro did not go as planned? I know where an new Apeiro .40 is but not sure if it is better than the Edge. Is the sight tracker worth it?
  2. Thanks everyone, now looking for an Eagle .40 instead of and Edge .45! My son told me he would be more than happy to send the .45’s down range.
  3. Because of the weight? Eagle is lighter and thus legal in IDPA? What is the difference between the two besides the dust cover?
  4. How does one purchase a gun from a member on here 2000 miles away? I know all about trust. I’m in VA and sent $1800 to a fine gentleman in AZ for a data logger (drag car) 4 years ago and still waiting on it to be shipped. So is there any means of not getting screwed? Or is it a trust thing again?
  5. Any disadvantage of having a double stack instead of a single? Watching the "Better grip single stack or double stack 1911s?" topic. Hand size seems to be one key factor with a 2011 which I need. I have large hands, wear 2XL gloves. I have always wanted a STI Edge but not something I can't use in competition as far as beginner classes go. As you can tell I’m a newbie at competition shooting (sort of, done it a few times years ago). Thanks for any and all advice.
  6. What is the "best" caliber for competition? I want a STI Edge 2011 to shoot in USPSA & IDPA but not sure which caliber to get. 40 or 45. I really want the 45 due to having 2500 rounds and just like the 45 ACP. I lile the 2011 because of the larger frame. I have very large hands. My son has a Kimber 45 ACP and we want to shoot in some matches together.. How bad would it be to have a 2011 45 and get a top end for a 40 and have to best of both worlds? Anyone around Roanoke VA Rifle and Revolver Club here to point me in the right direction?
