  1. My money load for that weight/profile is a 230 gr Eggleston or Bayou coated bullet over 3.7 grains of Clays with an OAL of 1.250. Oh, and the bullet is metallic blue in color.
  2. +1 for Steve Anderson's book. Also, Ben Stoeger has some excellent dry fire books and programs. Take some time to get setup right and don't cheat for speed.
  3. +1 for the VZ grips with the "golfball" texture. Add some skate tape to the front strap if you need it.....
  4. Meh. If i were in the market for new, i would still go SA Range Officer or a Trojan. Wary of Colt...........
  5. My son and i are shooting a Brazos Custom Performance Package. We are 2nd owners and couldnt be happier with it. Great gun.....
  6. I was raised in Nebraska and the 95-96 Huskers were one of the best college football teams of all time - up to that point. Not sure how they'd stack in the present era. Now all i have is memories and........hope.
  7. Thanks for the advice. We may have to shift the thermostat down a couple notches at night to account for the hot bed. I also see there is a ridiculously priced (like 1k) dual-zone temp adjustable mattress pad on Amazon that might fix the problem if nothing else works. We love the way the mattress feels - its just that it gets ass-hot before morning.
  8. Does anyone have a Tempurpedic bed that sleeps hot? If so, do you have a hack/fix that mitigates the problem? My wife has a bad hip and we are checking out Tempurpedic to see if it helps her sleep better. Already tried a Sleep Number that was like a roaster - plus crappy customer service. Went with Tempurpedic and love the way it feels - except that we both wake up at 0430 drenched in sweat. Interested if anyone else has had the issue. Hope we can make it work because the bed is really helping alleviate the pain in her hip. Thanks. Husker
  9. You have to find the middle ground. I love fishing as much as i love USPSA but i love them even more when my family is involved. My son shoots most matches with me and i rarely go fishing without him. Sometimes the conditions are too harsh to take mom out practicing or fishing but we would RATHER have her with us - and she often is. Having said that, she has her own interests/friends/pastimes which often dont jive with sweating it out at the Mile High in late June or ice fishing when its -36. The concept applies equally to most interests - i know guys who have golfed and hunted themselves out of marriages as well. If you're well-matched as a couple and honest with yourselves setting priorities for time and other resources is pretty simple. If its hard, well..........
  10. Good job getting in some practice Sat. We should have done the same. Jarrod and i went ice-fishing Sat and it was -36 when we got out of the pickup. Not a typo. High of -7 that day. I'm going to remember it this summer when we're sweating it out at the Mile High.
  11. Because they dont make a .46. Oh, and like Thermo said - because of FREEDOM.
  12. The only issue i have with the S&B primers is they dont seem to feed worth a damn in my 550. Great buy from Cabelas but i wont get them again - too much PITA. I have used the Remington with no issues.
  13. I got 16 pounds earlier this year and it was only about a 90 day wait on backorder from Grafs.
  14. You are finding honest-to-God, no *&^% Hodgdon Clays?? If true, thats good to hear. I had almost given up......
  15. My son is shooting a High Performance Edge from Brazos that we picked up used from a friend getting out of the sport. It probably had less than 1500 rnds down the pipe when we got it and we have put another 2,500 since then. Runs flawlessly - love that gun.
  16. You going 38 SC or 9 mm major for Open?
  17. For your situation, you stated mostly sport, i would get a Springfield Armory Range Officer and shoot the hell out of it. After a year or so upgrade the small parts and get a trigger job done. Spend the rest of your money on ammo and match fees. For carry, get a soul-less striker fired pistol that you wont cry over if you ever lose it after a fight. I love the premium line - Wilson, Baer, SVI, Nighthawk, et.al - and will own one someday. But i dont think the added coin gives any significant competitive advantage and why would you beat the hell out of a masterpiece like that shooting it at USPSA matches. Just my .02.
  18. If its a good price and you can afford it, it's probably worth buying regardless. It sounds LNIB and if you take care of it you will NEVER lose money on it. From that generation, there's a very good chance its a shooter too. Like Thermo said, i wouldnt throw any high-test +P+ down its throat but you dont have to. Slick it up and you'll have a nice revo that will last forever.
  19. Open gun?! Revo?! Get back on track......come over to the Stack. That's where the cool kids are playing.
  20. yeah, i am backordered for about 16 pounds of Clay Dot on Graff's. Hope to see it soon.
  21. The biggest take-away i have from this is that you still have Clays. What deal with Satan did you make? I ran out of my stash a couple months ago; Clays is unobtanium now.
  22. I agree with Moto. I run a 550 and would literally give up one of my guns before i got rid of it. The caliber changes are cheaper and faster on a 550 when compared to a 650 and i think there's less tweaking and complexity as well. I bought my 550 from Brian about 11 years ago and i liked what he told me at the time when i asked the same question - "If you truly needed the volume capability of a 650 or 1050 you would know it."
  23. After i clean my primer assembly, i put a little bit of powdered graphite between the primer bar and the black shim that it slides on. That seems to help me out. Also, check the bent push rod that pushes the primer arm back on the down-stroke. When mine starts to slide out of the bracket at the top of primer tube the bar will get balky as well. I now keep a rubber band around the rod and the primer feed tube to hold it in place. That really seems to help.
